The Good But Generally Bad Police Thread

No charges for Cleveland police officers in shooting death of 12-year-old Tamir Rice: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2015/12/28/tamir-rice-grand-jury-announcement-expected-monday/

Yeah, i figured that. Being a gungho cop can pretty much never be challenged in the court of law, especially when the threat was a black teen with what was thought to be a handgun.

A cop is allowed to do exactly what that officer did with no way to really punish them outside of the public shaming them. Quite honestly, i dont know what to charge him with either. Thats how shitty that situation was. A kid was walking around playing with a fake gun in public around people, and even at one point appeared to point and aim it at the person that walked by him. Someone called it in, because how the fuck can you determine if its a toy or not, since it looks real as fuck. I probably wouldve called the police too, before i try to be captain planet, assuming hes just a kid playing with a real looking toy gun.

His parents and the community should be mad they failed tamir rice. I think i said that in the thread a while ago. He essentially died because of lazy parenting, which is the norm for americans in general.

The kid did nothing criminal and the officers were the ones that escalated the situation that led to Tamir Rice’s death.

The prosecutor called the shooting and Rice’s death “a perfect storm of human error” yet no one is held accountable for those errors. The prosecutor and police chief will likely do their best to put the blame on the parents of Tamir Rice or Tamir himself for not teaching the kid what to do and what not to do in that situation. I don’t blame them. They “have to” put someone accountable for the kid’s death (it’s a PC/PR thing). I wouldn’t be surprised if the parents and activists take this case a step further though.

I hope everyone learns from this incident. :s

Yeah, but there isnt anything short of some type of low key criminal negligence type shit that they would even been able to try to get the cop with.

Like nothing was on tamirs side that day at all

1)Hes black
2) Hes playing with and pointing a toy handgun that looks like a real handgun at people
3) Ohios open carry doesnt protect you if someone calls 911 and says youre pointing it at people, which he was.

That cop was definitely crazy, and endangered himself and his partner. Maybe if the 911 dispatcher wouldve made clear that the person that called it in, said it may be fake, MAYBE the cops wouldve responded a little different, but i doubt it.

Maybe that cop was thinking he was about to prevent a mass shooting in the park, or some nonsense, so he pretended to be rambo. I dont know, but from what we do know, yeah, tamir and his parents are going to have to take most of that blame.

I see people on twitter talking about open carry, and the 911 call, clearly uninformed about both, because theyre quoting the its probably fake part, and not the part where the guy says he is pointing it at people, and keeps taking it in and out of his pants. I know we have video of other white males being crazy with guns in public, and not getting gunned down in 3 seconds, but i dont know what to say. Thats that situation, and this is this one.

More bad news in chicago…Rahm better dust off his resume. I’ll be surprised if he lasts another term.

CNN)Two more shooting deaths by Chicago police are prompting swift action by the Mayor Rahm Emanuel, as well as by residents who want the mayor to go.

The latest upheaval came after Chicago police fatally shot Bettie Jones, 55, and Quintonio LeGrier, 19, while answering a call about a domestic disturbance.

Jones, a mother of five, shouldn’t have been shot, police say. She was “accidentally struck and tragically killed” by an officer.

Many question the shooting of LeGrier, who police say was combative. LeGrier’s family said he suffered from mental illness, CNN affiliate WLS reported.

On Sunday night, Emanuel ordered changes in how city police officers are trained to handle calls involving people who may have mental health problems.

“There are serious questions about yesterday’s shootings that must be answered in full by the Independent Police Review Authority’s investigation,” Emanuel said.

“While their investigation is underway, we must also make real changes within our police department today, and it is clear changes are needed to how officers respond to mental health crises.”

Emanuel, under fire for a series of fatal police shootings, directed the Chicago Police Department and the leaders of the Independent Police Review Authority to meet immediately to “determine the deficiencies in the current training, and determine what steps can be taken immediately to address them.”

On Monday, a member of Emanuel’s office announced the mayor would cut short a vacation in Cuba and arrive back in Chicago on Tuesday afternoon.

“He is cutting his family trip short so that he can continue the ongoing work of restoring accountability and trust in the Chicago Police Department,” Stephen Spector said in an email.

At what point will Americans realise that police unions are the heart of the problem.

You can’t run a properly disciplined police force when you can’t fire police who misbehave. That shit’s elementary, but nobody but Scott Walker seems to have the stones to take on the all powerful public sector unions.

The cop tells the other cop, thats not him, hes not black with a black shirt on. Yet they still detain him, and then other officers without communicating with officers already on the scene, let a dog loose on the fucking guys car, and it mauls his daughters arm.

MY NIGGA. TRUST ME, if that was me, id dedicate the rest of my life to cop killin. EASY. The more innocent the better. Theyre never gonna learn. Law enforcement needs a good purging. So fucking livid over this video.

=(

Sorry odin. lol. I’ll edit it for you.

haha No worries!
I know I don’t fit into the stereotypes of white Americans.
White Europeans look at them with the same disdain as black Americans do.

Here’s a few good reads and opinion pieces on the whole Tamir Rice case:

I keep attempting to tell myself: “There are good/honest police officers in this country.” Over and over again. And over again.
I’ve actually encountered some. I’ve also had first hand experience with some assholes.

The thing that gets me the most is a couple of years ago where I read some story stating that throughout the
entire USA, some cities more specifically, will not hire on new officers if there IQ is above a certain level. I do not
know what that number is, but fucking cripes if this thread doesn’t show it.

I would’ve killed that dog. Immediately.

Police training needs a hard examination. It appears that decent human beings with badges aren’t the problem; the issue more so lies with assholes who can hide behind draconian, poorly worded laws as they wash their hands with innocent blood. We need a greater emphasis on nonviolent conflict resolution that makes active harm to a person recommended only if an immediate danger could be demonstrated in a court of law. We have so many more ways of solving problems than with guns, and the police need to be exemplars of that idea.

I mean most of the time when an animal attacks a human, it’s put down. That dog obviously is fucking trained on some old other shit.

I’ve been around service dogs in the military and stateside and I couldn’t imagine one attack a child, they aren’t trained to jump on a damn baby.

Then you’d have been shot for murdering a police officer.

Hah. That’s what you think.

We need to push to people that you can lose your job if you fuck up
