Why would moves that increase meter work under conditions in which you don’t gain meter?

If anything, Astral Vision is BS for going against the trend and letting you gain meter during a mode super.

Veil of Mist does stop ALL meter gain. All other variants (Devil Trigger, Sougenmu, etc) do the same.

Doesn’t stop that combo you made from kicking ass though. Nice job.

Because it works for every other character with a “no meter gain right now” rule.

Astral Vision isn’t going against any trend for letting you gain meter. Install hypers are all different. SRK even has a list of these, so it shouldn’t be a secret to anyone:

Hypers that persist on tag-out but prevent meter building while active:
Devil Trigger, Vale of Mist, Sougenmu, Rimoukon, Berserker Charge

Hypers that allow you to keep building meter and persist on tag-out:
Viewtiful God Hand, Golden Armor, Mad Beast

Add to the first list Firebrand’s Luminous Body and Chaos Tide, the second list Vergil’s Devil Trigger and Ouroboros. Astral Vision is not unique or special. The general rule with install hypers seems to be “if this could let you combo solo off of a hit you normally couldn’t, then you can’t build meter”. Thus Dante has tricks like Acid Rain, Devil Trigger, Air Trick that aren’t nomally possible, Vergil has Rapid Slash into Spiral Swords and Devil Trigger, Wolverine has Berserker Slash into Berserker Charge, etc. Vale of Mist and Rimoukon likely don’t allow meter building because they’d be a little ridiculous if they did.

Um, no. I can gain meter from Dark Harmonizer during any other “no meter gain” hyper in the game. I use Dark Harmonizer to keep Devil Trigger up permanently for Vergil and wreck face all the time. I’ve also used it to keep up semi-permanent Rimoukon in the past, or to refresh Ouroboros, etc. This is unique to Amaterasu. Therefore, it uniquely sucks!

Hey if I were to put ammy in the second slot, what are some good assists that would back her up? I assume beams, arrows and tastu, but any other ideas? I starting a nemesis ammy team and cant for the life of me think of a third character that i want to play (doom is not even a factor)

I was thinking him, but the problem is nemesis uses his wall bounce (clothesline L) in all his combos for damage, setting up frame traps, and making his block strings safe

Spitfire twice is a great assist as well. Log Trap is for if you want to optimize Ammy more, whereas Spitfire is more like a cross between Drones and Arrows, plus it works better for Nemesis.

Dante is pretty much the only character I’d like behind Ammy. Everyone else uses her assist better than she can use theirs.

is ammy hard to learn? scale of 1-10? i’m in a team crisis again and i was thinking of playing joe/ammy/hawkeye

That’s my team! :smiley: I’d say to learn her at a functional level is only a 5 or a 6. But to learn her at a level where you’re using every tool she has for every situation at the exact right time… is 10 out of 10. I feel she’s comparable to Dante in that regard, where on paper she has the tools for every matchup, but executing it is gonna take time and effort.

That team is solid, you just can’t afford to make mistakes compared to top tier teams. Having Ammy second can be tough, she doesn’t do a whole lotta damage and she works best when she can burn meter, so keep that in mind when having a meter hog anchor such as Hawkeye. Arrows help her neutral game a lot, and you can get real creative with her resets, that’s how I usually play it. Play between Ammy and Hawkeye, too. They’re both great anchors and putting Ice behind Hawk lets him keep the pressure on up close. Hawk + Ammy team super is amazing too, Hawkeye can OTG after it for a small combo or command flip over them to cross them up during gaps of Ammy’s super.

Marvel 3 standards? definitely a 10 then. She is extremely hard to get a good feel for.

I feel like most people think she’s scrubby and easy to play because of the option/select F+H on top of her quick normals, but she is a rather awkward character that is great in the hands of someone who can use her well.

This is good for the most part (It’s great that someone took BL’s tech and put it in a cleaner video for everyone to see, I’ve been using his level up strategies for months now), but I think you should THC to level up Frank when you can. You can get to level 3 off of a stray THC hit, and Level 4 or maybe even 5 if you put it at the end of a combo. Some characters with weird fall physics/hitboxes will fall out of it if you time it wrong, that’s the only danger of using it. You can get two pictures with the THC AND extra damage, whereas with the Cart DHC to VoM, you’ll get him to level 4 without the bottle, but you won’t build any meter since VoM is out.

Against certain characters like V.Joe and RR, it’s definitely better to go for the Cart DHC to VoM, since it’s guaranteed to work on everyone.

8-9. Managing her stances properly is the hardest thing about her. I feel like it’s even harder if you played Ammy in vanilla, since you need to wean yourself off of air-dashing. Playing her as anchor is maybe a 6-7 since you don’t have to worry about resets and her combos are way, way easier.

Yeah my problem w/ ammy since I played her in vanilla is that sometimes I still get in the bad habit of trying to air dash or if they are close to me I air dash towards them and sometimes I get punished for that lol. Still a bad habit I need to shake off lol.

So, I’m new to the game. I’m thinking of running Ammy on point and Hawkeye, but I can’t decide on a third character. Any suggestions on who I should try?
