The God of War III thread. Chaos will rise again! USE SPOILER TAG!

I guess so, but it was the only part that gave me any trouble. GoW1 was easier to me, and I’m playing through 2 right now and it seems to be just a little tougher than 1 but not by much.

agreed. fuck that bitch.

What are you talking about with trophies? Regular PSN trophies, or in-game trophies game uses for unlocks?

PSN trophies, there aren’t trophies in game, they’re treasures.

Paid off the ultimate edition of this game and immediately afterward found out that the European version comes with the first 2 games also. That made me pretty mad. Can’t wait to play it regardless

Yeah, I remember reading that the ultimate edition came with the first 2 games, so I switched mine to ultimate and sold my copy of GoW HD collection to my friend. Then I found out a week or two ago that only the European version came with it:bluu: Now I need to buy the HD collection again. Oh well, I’m still hype.

Man I can’t wait to get this at midnight.

collection really aint worth it, at least not for me. gow style games are good fun for 1 or 2 times, and ive already finished the first 2 gamea at least 3 times a game. no reason to do it again when theres nothing new in it, adds no fucking vallue so fuck it. ill be chopping 3 though.

So this game didn’t break street date, it’s just randomly turning up places? I see cats playing it on my psn and it makes me pissed off like Kratos himself.

AND the gamestop I pre-ordered from aint opening at midnight. Aint that a herpes-addled bitch?

Lol.

Heya Stuck - wanna hit 4 for a bit tonight?

^Don’t do it stuck. Jab Hadouken is quite the dropper.

My gamestop is doing a midnight release. Will get the game tomorrow and play it right when I get home.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:

I heard that too - “GFWL: jabhadouken SRK” is a real twat.

Given your intellectual caliber, I kind of thought it’d hard for you to get us confused, DR. :shake:

…but then I remembered the whole “So… I almost did my cousin on Turkey Day thing”. :nono:

In light of that particular episode, I’m more or less accepting that you’re easily mixed up. :bgrin:

All love, man (No Incesto). :razzy:

The last fight is a bit glitchy as far as I know. I managed to break the boss in 2 different ways, one making him basically unkillable and the other making him extremely easy to kill (on Titan difficulty). As for my thoughts on the game I’ll put it in a spoiler tag if people are interested, contains mild spoilers as I will mention bosses, but I won’t mention the story or what happens, just how I felt about it. Final game impressions/semi-review.

Final Game Impressions/Review

[details=Spoiler]I feel like outside of a couple very annoying bits and the mostly terrible cutscenes, GoW3 is the best of the series gameplay-wise. The Poseidon battle is the best opening of the series and despite IGN’s discussion on it, I never felt like the game dropped off after that. If the game removed certain (in my opinion) stupid useless parts, I could have finished the game in 1 sitting, but because of them and some other issues I had to break the game into 3 parts, technically 2, but I had to take a break after glitching out the game and making the last boss nigh unkillable.

I think boss battles were better done this time around and the puzzle parts are better done. The things I could do without are the overly long falling/flying bits where Kratos does his vent flying mini-game. When they’re short, they’re decent, but when they’re long, they’re just frustrating and annoying because you basically have to memorize paths and even then, you’ll sometimes hit stuff that looks like it shouldn’t hit you and other times if you’re lucky, you’ll clip through stuff that looks like it should hit you. It’s silly and I feel like justification to stop you from fighting just doesn’t make sense.

Another aside is I’ve never been a fan of the gauntlet areas. You don’t know how long they last for one thing and they aren’t much fun to me. There are 2 gauntlet arenas in this game that I can remember. 1 really long battle with many difficult enemies and another one that isn’t as long, but involves floor spikes that will instantly kill you if you’re caught on them. I like that there are some clever battle scenarios put in where they seem really impossible, but become really easy once you find some “trick” to it. Using different weapons also changes what you do as well in battle and that’s great though weapon switching on the fly isn’t as fluid as I thought it would be and I really didn’t find a reason to do it outside of a few battles.

There are a bunch of other clever things including stuff you can do with the side items you pick up which I like. There are things they just leave untold to you until you stumble onto them and it might annoy people who want to try and get your platinum with 1 play through of all the content. Won’t happen since the game seems to be designed to be played multiple times.

I think the game blends a lot of things together and borrows from a lot of games. I felt a bit of Uncharted 2 in the way encounters and levels were designed, could have been better though since GoW isn’t on that level of area traversal, it’s still very limited and very basic and really it could have been better compared to other games. One of the boss battles quickly reminded me of a Batman: Arkham Asylum battle, but done much better. I have to hand it to the Santa Monica studio on making these boss battles much better than before. It’s nice to see bosses actually react to getting hit and making it matter. As a last note, the controls aren’t perfect. I found them a bit cumbersome even after finishing the game. Double jumping isn’t good, they should have been more lenient with it and extended the amount of time you’re allowed to double jump after a normal jump. Every game has that similar double jump time down as a standard, God of War 3 changes that for some unknown reason and I’ve died many many times just because I didn’t hit jump fast enough to double jump out of long lived habits. It doesn’t make or break the game, but it’s something I will remember about the game and that’s not a good thing.

In all, I would give God of War 3 an 8/10. It falls short in a lot of areas, but it’s still a great game and does some things very well making them both great to watch, fun to play and challenging at the same time. The points knocked from the score are purely because some sections aren’t paced properly. They are too long and aren’t action game oriented requiring mostly memorization and little skill. Platforming is a chore and forcing the player to hold up and spam X to pass through nonsensically long sections doesn’t increase the breadth and scale of the world, it merely annoys you especially when those sections are basically you going back through them, there’s nothing to look at except for Kratos climbing a chain for a long time. The ending is also contrived, some will disagree, but I think few will say it’s a great ending. It kind of pulls the energy out of the game and in the end I feel like it ultimately hurts the game a lot. From the last fight and on it feels like everybody got lazy, the boss encounter was terrible from being very buggy and honestly did not have an epic feel to it. The quality of the game drops significantly and for me, it falls over the border as being just plain silly. I think that God of War as a franchise through all of the games have done this and it’s rather sad. The team is always super focused on an incredible intro, but they always fail at the end. I think if they created an end akin to the level of creativity and effort put into the intro, the game would easily be a 9 and above for me even with the other downsides.[/details]

Ending (you’ve been warned)

Spoiler

Kratos kills himself Seppuku style. GG God of War. As a side note, if you’ve played FF13, Hope seems to be the theme of March oddly enough and quite funny after playing GoW3.

… @ ending

God damn I was joking with you man LOL

THAT said, I did make out with my cousin a few weeks ago, just never posted it because of shame. I hope you’re fucking happy, you C.Viper dropper ;_;

Spoiler

The ending is a lot more drawn out, but what I posted is basically what happens, the other parts of the sequence are pretty piss poor compared to the rest of the game and it pained me to play through it. Terrible ending in my opinion.

Gat dammit! <sp> (Stuckeyism), me too man! :stuck_out_tongue:

…I blame the overwhelmingly British portion of my blood, for the sardonic nature of my sense of humor. :lovin:

Black humorist, sadistic prats, that we Brits are.

At least you have hot cousins. (Pm detailed shame please, kthanx.)

I have thirteen cousins, total. And the only female amongst them is damned near old enough to have birthed me.

Lets stop getting off topic in the thread.

**Man please…go head with that shit.

@ jab, yeah i’ll play some**
