The God of War III thread. Chaos will rise again! USE SPOILER TAG!

^how long did it take you to beat the game?

About 8 hours and 45 minutes, i think. It was under 9.

Actually for some reason spoiler tags do not work when I use firefox, so I just avoid posting anything that could be one.

Naaa, I was just being cynical. Remember he’s got winged boots. I should have put quotes around it as you didn’t pick up on it.

I think I’d know the difference between the son of a craftsman and the Godly Messenger on the PlayStation3 Computer Entertainment Console

Well, I’m about half way. What level did you beat it on?

He said normal.

Took me 17 or so on Hard. But I am parrying like Daigo in Third Strike now.

Man, parrying is easy as hell. I was getting throttled on Hard in the beginning. Till I was aware that I was rockin the Golden Fleece. The parry window timing is not really that strict at all.

I haven’t gotten through too many boss battles, but are there moves that aren’t parry-able? I’m not doing as much experimentation since I rented it?

There are a few moves that are unparryable. Along with some OHKO moves too. So Parrying isn’t the end all. But yea the parry window is HUGE. Half the time I think the attack is gonna hit me and I parry.

The final boss of this game is a bitch. Any tips? Mark as spoilers please.

boss tip

Spoiler

Attack him when he prepares to dash towards Gaia’s heart, it’ll stop the dash (if you can’t do that then just attack him when he’s draining health from her heart.) Kill clones off as quickly as possible, they aren’t too tough. Don’t get too greedy is the only other thing I can suggest.

i’m sure it would never go to the 360, but i’m sure they ARE losing money by it being a PS3 exclusive.

since it is a short game, i think ill wait for a price drop

Depends on how much you want to get into it. Hard mode took me 17 hours. And there are challenge modes and an even harder mode.

Dude this game is worth every penny of the $60+ I paid for it. Big shit that it takes 8+ hours to beat on normal difficulty, those eight hours are fucking amazing. I remember doing the same thing for Ico when it came out and I beat that game the SAME day I bought it and it didn’t bother me one bit because it was such a fantastic experience.

I beat it yesterday and I’m going to play it on Titan Mode soon too. Then I’ll play it again. And again and again.

I really doubt I’m going to get sick of this game anytime soon.

Running Fear Kratos runs? Sounds gutsy~

That’s like saying, “Nintendo is losing money because Mario Galaxy isn’t multi-platform” or “Microsoft is losing money because ODST isn’t multi-platform.” Every system has exclusives that help move consoles and it has been like this since the dawn of gaming. Have you been living under a rock since the 80’s? The fact of the matter is that the game is going to sell tons of units and push PS3 hardware sales through the roof.

Take your trolling elsewhere plz, people are trying to enjoy themselves in this thread.

I haven’t been playing much but.
I just beat Hermes. I don’t know how far I am into the game but I’m liking it so far.
The game doesn’t give that “HOLY FUCK WOWEE” effect I was hoping for. It’s more of the same. Though I did enjoy the Hermes chase and his weapon you get is pretty unique. And I really enjoyed the Poseidon battle.

But, I do get the :amazed: factor when I look at some of the backdrops and how busy they are. Like for instant when Preces (The fire titan) is in the back ground fighting Helios while you are fighting off the Centaur General, random mobs and the chimera. That was amazing to me along with all the other small details they’ve added in.

I have a feeling I’m missing a lot of power ups though since the only upgrade I’ve gotten is one health upgrade. I have 2 feathers and 2 horns though.
I’ll probably finish up the game tomorrow and then go back to FFXIII
This game is a beast man. I was going to get both GOW3 and FF13, but I decided against FF13, and got GOW3 instead. Never regret that decision one bit. This game is well done from start to finish. I was also impressed with how much they changed the demo level with new lighting and texture details. I like the new abilities they gave him.

Man this game is gettin serious

BATTLE TIME!!!

Spoiler

Having a little difficulty with the Cerberus and the Scythe wielding things right after you plummet down the chain of balance. The exploding pups keep killing me!!!
I kick them back, and dodge when the next one comes out and stands by me, but for some reason, I continuously fail. . . .

Since there isn’t a life bar, I wish there was some sort of visual cue showing how bad you are beating something senseless.

ending

Spoiler

That’s it? Most unsatisfying ending ever.

What I did

[details=Spoiler]
That fight is Bitchtastic on hard. What I did was spammed the hell out of him with cestus and kept doing it while roll canceling until the first Satyr popped out. I then when into Rage of Sparta and did as much damage as I could to the Cerberus, hoping to get him down another head. Beat him senseless with more Cestus.
When both Satyrs came out I used the Blades of Exile fully upgraded to do some damage to the cerberus and whenever the Satyrs got too close spammed the Phalanx magic. Phalanx arrows from level 3 put them in juggle state so you can switch back to cestus and do some more damage on the Cerberus. Comes down to some luck though.
I believe you can also wrestle away the weapons from the satyrs.

For the pups just roll cancel with the cestus when they get near.[/details]

Weapon Tiers in this game

Spoiler

God Tier = Blades of Exile; they get the best magic in the game when it’s fully upgraded, are incredibly versatile and fast. Can hit hard with Tartarus Rage. And have a long range grab.
Top Tier = Nemean Cestus; The boss killer. Does MASSIVE damage and lets you roll cancel all the regular hits. Makes some of the fights much easier.
Mid Tier = Hooks of Hades; They are decent but the blades of Exile do everything better. The summons are cool but they are not as powerful as the Phalanx. No grab that pulls you in hurts as well.
Shit tier = Electric Blade Things; These were terrible. There was nothing good about them. Too hard to combo, not enough damage, lack of any good AoE, and huge recovery time.

And we’re all very glad that you don’t. :bgrin:

When in doubt though, a dude needs to hit “preview post”. :smokin:

If the tags don’t show up, then scratch the spoiler.

'Tis not that hard, m’man.

That new avatar is quite possibly equal to the legendary “Baby-On-Board Mika, Mika On The Stairs” one.
