What’s there to think about?

Thats what I want to know, seems backwards to reward someone for when their opponent is not just walking into their fist.I wanna see how those attack boost on opponent blocking gems work out for grapplers.

Not everyone’s played this mind you. You can’t assume that the people who will get this get this game are strictly those who played SF4.

the setup I’m gonna start with:

both characters:
Immense Power level 1: Your partner connects with a launcher attack: +10% damage
Onslaught Level 2: Your partner connects with a launcher attack: +40% meter gain
this simply makes sure that the gem activation isn’t in vain, since it lets you combo right afterwards. I dare to say that this will be pretty common.

for the third slot I think those are interesting:
Fortitude Level 1: Get hit by a 5 hit combo: 100 Damage Absorb - since you allready getting hit (abc-l is allready a 4 hit combo) it won’t get wasted.
or Life Force Level 1: Get hit by 2 special moves: +80 hp over 5 sekunden (if multiply activations are possible, then the other with +60 instantly)

and a counter gem für Pandora Builds:
Iron Wall Level 3: Your Opponent activates Pandora: +30% Defense

With the preorder/ce gems you can change to this:
Immense power Level 1 EX (2 slots): Your partner connects with 2 launcher attacks: +20% damage, + 10% healing (or super gauge healing or 10 seconds longer [30 seconds])
Immense power level Level 2 (1 slot): Connect with 10 normal moves: +20% damage

Possibility not to select any gem? That’s good news.

If the gems turn out to be really that bad, I guess the only mode I won’t touch is Ranked match. Offline and friend rooms are safe.

You can mash a DP in any game it isn’t hard. Now if someone said after a dash they immediately do a qcf motion and a dp comes out than input latency is pretty generous. No one confirmed this. All they said was oh you can mash dp’s in this game. That doesn’t mean shit to be honest. So yes there IS something to think about.

I’m going to assume that Ono is at least marginally interested in good game-play and say that ez modo gems activating won’t fire off other gems.

Otherwise…

can you activate a gem more then ONCE PER ROUND? (after the time it’s on has faded ofc)

I’m not understanding why Capcom wants gems to be the “leading drive” of this game … or w/e

i’d laugh if i happen to buy this game and see that no one’s even using them.

Also what’s up with the pre-order packs crap? Do I really have to shop at a particular store for a particular gem pack?

This is hilarious. Man watch the gem system cause more of a loss in sales than if they never had it there in the first place.

As far as I can tell, there is no info on that. I would really like to know about this myself. They had shown awhile back a photo with a greyed out gem. I was just also thinking about how often would it be possible to activate most of these (given that they can be activated more than once). Most standard gems seem to last for 20 seconds, which is the duration of all gems with a “Block 5 attacks” condition. Let’s say it takes a generous 10 sec for me to block 5 attacks. That would mean (all else being equal) I can get 20 sec buff every 10 sec. In the ABSOLUTE best case scenario I can activate them 3.x times in a match from 99 to 0. This of course is a very crude way of approaching it so I’m assuming this all depends on what choices are made during a given match.

so no one knows? IF it would be possible, I’m pretty sure it can’t be activated (or counted towards the ignition) while the gem itself is active.
but that +60hp / 2 special attacks with no time limit would be pretty darn useful when running into guile or sagat with them fireballs.

I don’t know if you watched the latest episode of “Scrub The Line” but there’s a reason their only example was Kazuya’s mist step, which an unknown move we can’t yet understand nor criticize.
Imagine how the internet will rage if they showed Zangief’s move list.

well on EventHubs Seth had explained that you have to make it known in the online lobby you wish not to play with Gems, and only then they “may” not use them. there is no way to filter them out.
also to add to that, Ranked matches seem like they will always have Gems so unless they want a disadvantage they’ll be using Gems…including DLC Gems~

offline is the only place where you have control over Gems~ even then i think the CPU still will use Gems in Arcade Mode…so even then its limited sort to speak.
