Ok, I tried as hard as I could to defend the idea of the Gem System but this is just retarded. Pre-order gems with better effects than the normal ones and no drawbacks? Fuck that shit.
If these aren’t unblockable in-game then I say ban the DLC gems.
Your optimism was pretty remarkable… but anyone who’s keen on how Capcom is dealing with their titles nowadays would have guessed that pre-order Gems would outclass anything.
The system is still pretty underwhelming as a whole, they’re not revolutionizing anything. I’d rather have a solid “boring” game, than a clusterfuck title who recks flashness to cater down to scrubs.
shit, even you Jamp…I thought they were going to have some kind of balance here but…again i was proven wrong by Capcom. Are you still looking forward to this game come March?
I feel they made exactly that. Just for the sake of making it less difficult for beginners.
they could have just done an option that enables “super easy mode but -10% dmg”. or 3 “options” before hand you can pick:
+5% dmg
+5% defense / health
+5% speed
+10% meter gain
+Auto Tech for 1/2 bars
+Auto Block for 1 bar
+Easy mode, -10% dmg
+Super Easy mode, -10% dmg
+no chip damage (I like that!)
so you can either pick +15% dmg, or 10% defense and 10% meter gain, or 15% speed or auto tech, auto block and super easy mode.
this is actually easy understandable, and still brings some sort of “difference” to fit your playstyle without being to time consuming to search etc.
I still hope they’ll fix the game itself. As long as the game is fun - and has all my favourite characters in it, which it does - I’ll gladly play it. Fix the damn chains and Capcom will have my money, but none of it will go towards buying gems. I’ll gladly deal with that shit online but I won’t be supporting it.
I’m still okay with the Gem System per se, no reason to ban the gems included in the game - though I’m a little bit worried about those Vitality gems.
well SFxTK is coming out in March…by then i should have been completed FFXIII-2…and i won’t see Tag2 until next X-Mas~ so idk…i kinda wanted to look forward to a good game come march…i had high hopes for it…the more i see of gems…its always mixed feelings…maybe if i see Asuka my Opinion will change again…idk…though im having a blast with KOFXIII…
point is, i dont want to be bummed out on SFxTK because of their lame marketing plan…as i actually like this game for one reason or another…i just dont want to lose intrest in it…i want to believe it will be a good game…its just hard to see that when they throw Gems in your face every 5 seconds…
you make the game seem less appealing(tip…never get a job in marketing) fundamentally Gems are a decent way to add another layer…we all get that and the standard gems are OK in most peoples book, the DLC Gems is what grinding peoples Gears. At first was saying well maybe they are being cheap for not getting the CE, then i realised not everyone is fourtunate to have a Gamestop or is willing to spend $10 dollars on this game…or whatever reason…everyone should get the same stuff is what the agrument is at the end of the day…
I’ve always hated the idea of having Different Pre-Order Incentives at different places(FFXIII-2 is a nightmare when it comes to that) and its a terrible idea here because it not only alienates players who bought it from different stores, it makes things worse for TO and the community as a whole because for those who didn’t get the CE, they are oblivious to the DLC gems and their effects first hand.
the Gems themselves are not the problem anymore…im sure we are all past that…but rather how they are trying to market them is…
Okay, there’s too many Gems with “special abilities,” man.
Why in the hell should you get an “Attack Boost” for having your attacks blocked? C’mon now.
I mean, “Landing a counter hit” to activate the “Speed Gem” is a reasonable activation, but having Healing and Assist Gems (and its requirements) is all kinds of stupid.
SFxT continues its trend of sounding worse and worse with each bit of info that’s released. I wasn’t expecting much when it came to gems but this is just so bad.
Stats boosts as opposed to changes to your character’s options available which is what the gem system was originally intended for.
Activation conditions that don’t offer any of the strategies or mindgames that Seth Killian had discussed. Landing an attack, getting hit by an attack, and blocking an attack are hardly conditions you can avoid and use to your own advantage.
Immense Power Gem lvl 2 EX (Pre Order/CE): Your partner connects with 2 launcher: +20% dmg; +10% healing (20 seconds)
Immense Power Gem lvl 2 EX (Pre Order/CE): Your partner connects with 2 launcher: +20% dmg; +10% meter healing (20 seconds)
Immense Power Gem lvl 2 EX (Pre Order/CE): Your partner connects with 2 launcher: +20% dmg (30 seconds)
= 60% more damage, 10% healing, 10% meter healing for whooping 20 seconds (20% more damage aferwards for additional 10 seconds)
auto-super sayajin as soon as you land 2x launcher… and your character who tags in, will have that damage boost automatically while your opponent can still be juggled… herp derp broken : X
