THE GAS THREAD- News, Prices, and Feelings (5+ years in the making)

Barrel of oil = $135

In may 2007: $70

This is crazy. I don’t even know who to get annoyed or frustrated at about this.

OPEC claims to have huge reserves (350 billion barrels just sitting there according to the newspapers here) but then says nobody asks them for extra oil (WTF?), then you get governments who get large tax margins on oil, and not to mention the oil companies themselves.

Last quarter BP published mad profits (can’t remember the figure but I think it was in the region of $15 billion).

This fucking situation is so big with so many stakeholders benefitting from this in the short run, and normal people that need to pay for petrol/gas get fucked and can’t do anything but watch.

Filled up for $3.74 yesterday, apparently thats pretty good?!?!?

The Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is a group of thirteen countries[1][2] made up of Algeria, Angola, Ecuador (which rejoined OPEC in November 2007), Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela. The organization has maintained its headquarters in Vienna since 1965, hosting regular meetings between the oil ministers of its member states.

I want to know the prices in those fucking countries…Also, aren’t we at war/have troops in Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Qatar and Saudi???

I highly doubt we have troops in Iran or Libya. I dont think those folks like us very much :amazed:

Price of gas is apparently like 65 cents a gallon. I’m not even kidding on that.

venezuela is about 12 cents a gallon when converted to US currency and to gallons instead of liter

here’s a list of a lot of other places

http://money.cnn.com/pf/features/lists/global_gasprices/

But what is the amount of cars on the road??? i mean we can sit here an point out other countries… but our economy is shot… theirs is probably doing well or even if it isn’t… there are really no cars on the road… they’ve probably never seen an cadillac…

we gotta get our shyt together… simple an plain cause its ruinin a lot of shyt from relationships to business…

Dubai is in the United Arab Emirates; those fuckers OWN Bugatti’s and shit. Have man made islands and what not…the fuck are we doing wrong? I mean, on the real and fuckin’ sale boat hotel on a man made island…

$4.35 for unleaded in chicago…seen it this morning smh

First time ever diesel is higher then basically anything here in germany. 1.53 Euro for a liter. -_-

Oh yeah and if that is not enough … gallon of unleaded gas costing about $8.60 per gallon in Germany.

Hells, this will bring the slight + in the economy down again.

so its not the cheap dollar making the price go up because even in places where the currency is 2x that of the dollar, they are still 2x what we are.

To be honest im getting a bit annoyed my wallet is thining but also excited since myself and my fellow LPs have shares in BP too. Am i evil? Nope nigga want to get paid

I agree it is hitting me hard doing this real estate thing. All the traveling where these dayum buyers of mine arent placing offers. It dayum near forcing me to do RE part time

I think it is the wall street journal

Well it serves them right. Which documentary are we talking about there are so many of them that talk about how suburbia came to be. Majority of the burbs came to be around the time after the riots when MLK and malcolm X was assassinated. Or the proper term is “white flight” But of course the burb folk need a place to stay so they’ll gentrify an area to get those insert low income folk out and the cycle continues again.

that should really get you going this car is Prince Waleed. One has to pay a G just to touch it. That is bullshit! I have a feeling im late with the pic.

It was both. On the one hand it’s not as bad now as it is then. Back then gas stations literally ran out of gas and there was rationing. But on the other hand, it’s more expensive right now than it was then, even factoring in for inflation and the general worthlessness of the dollar.

It’s really only a matter of time before it gets that bad again. Gas will probably go down to $3.50 or so in a few months before going up again, but after that, the sky’s the limit for how gross the US economy could possibly get. Everything we buy is tied to the price of oil because of trucking/shipping/air freight costs. Food has a double shock effect because not only does it have to be trucked in, it costs a lot of energy to produce.

The whole upcoming energy crisis is my personal incentive to get my shit together before 2010. That’s when things will get really crazy, so the numbers say.

Gas is 3.88 a gallon here in Orlando. Fuck life…

is it just me or are most of the gas stations owned by people from the middle east? i think they knew gas prices where going to jump so they bought all the gas stations. the only way to lower the gas price is to stop trading with countries who produce the gas until they lower the price of a barrel.

I’ve got horrible gas at the moment.

That article about how we’d possibly be better off with the way things are going was interesting. I don’t know if I agree with it, but it at least showed a different perspective instead of the usual rants.

Nobody cares.

And? Who really gives a fuck if the gas price fluctuates a penny or 2 over night?

Who doesn’t?

Obviously a lot of people care about gas prices, you monkey-minded ass nincumfuckinpoop.

4.01 ugh my wallet is getting raped
