Yeah people seem to ignore the fact that inflation is also a big cause of gas going up. And so as our purchasing power is reduced- the same goes for the oil companies who make profit in US dollars. I mean if the dollar lost 90% of its value then oil companies profits should be through the roof- but their purchasing power isn’t really- so its phony profits.
Holy fuck, I lold.
fuck the bullshit. those oil companies are not pleased with the U.S foreign policy. We go into an arab country and fucking blow shit up left and right. Those OPEC fuckers have family, mistress, friends, business partners, real estate, and are not happy with the U.S. Basically, i wouldnt doubt that they are hitting our economy, since they know we are already weakened financially from the occupation in IRaq. look what the war is doing to our economy, fucking it up. now say some other 3 world country decides to go to war with us , they will soon be in fuckin debt, not sure they wanna battle unless they got the money and army to stand up to the U.s. And where do arabs get there money from…not camels milk…not textiles…not prostitution… profit from oil is fuckin it. for example iran, saudi, they are arab countries and notice how the U.S is now in iraq fucking up shit, you think those surrounding countries like it. imagine that one of our nato allies ( english speaking country) was getting bombed, we would regulate that shit like no other. we as a country need an alternate fuel to ourselves, something that will replace oil. I’m not racist, just think that paying 88.00 dollars to fill my truck up is Ri cock U lous.
Prius Price - 21-23K
Corolla - 13-17k
Prius - ~21-23k 48 city / 45 hwy / 12 gal tank
Corolla - ~15-18k 26 city / 35 hwy / 13.2 gal tank
Prius City ~ 576 miles 3.70 gal fill up / 11 gals ~ $40.70
Prius Hmy ~ 540 miles
Corolla City ~ 343 miles 3.70 gal fill up / 12 gals ~ $44.40
Corolla Hmy ~ 462 miles
Doing a quick google search for maint. cost for the Prius, the average for my zip was ~$300 a year.
Now factor in the fabrication process between the two vehicles, and you’ll see why “green” cars aren’t really eco-friendly as they appear, nor are they cheaper (overall, not just consumer end).
3.58 a gallon for cheap stuff here in orlando!! Sort of regretting my purchase of the 2004 mustang GT I recently got. Great thing about it is that its a 5 speed so that helps me out alot. takes me about 45-50 dollars to fill up. Not to mention that I go to school 5 days a week almost 20 miles one way….
My heart nearly sank when I pulled up to the pump 2 days ago. The person before me had to pay 100 dollars to fill up their tank. I was like wow…. I used to joke all the time with people saying how people will offer sexual services just to get gas. Thats actually happening. My best bud works at a gas station. He says that women all the time are offering him sexual services for gas…
not trying to sound like an ass what does eco-friendly have to do with gas? I mean, if it gets from point A to B using less gas, why should I care if its eco-friendly or not?
You are thinking short-term. If you view the hybrid from fabrication to consumer lifetime, then you are using more petrol than standard vehicle’s fabrication to consumer lifetime. And you should care sorta care about the environment in general…
crruuuunnnnnkkkkkkkkkkk
gas is 4.29 for REGULAR in down town san francisco
Joke was funnier when I did it. :arazz:
i’m gonna make my car all electric. i saw a guy who converts cars to electric on tv a while ago. wonder how much that costs
fuck:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:
You do realise that a lot of the US funding for the war in Iraq is borrowed from China?
And alternative fuel ain’t gona happen. The only viable option is biofuel - which makes people lose food. Nobody in developing countries is gona accept losing food just so that other people can drive their cars. Take Haiti for example - people are rioting for food because the corn is exported to Argentina so it gets processed to biofuel.
Poor people in Haiti are mixing water with mud, let it dry and eat it. The price of food has gone so high because there is a shortage and they can’t afford food anymore. That is crazy man, not to mention unacceptable.
you forget about Bio-diesel which uses old cooking oil.
gas is fucking expensive in cali, its 4 something in sd, at least where im at
Currently, if every last drop of old cooking oil in the USA was refined into bio-diesel, it would account for 1-2% of America’s daily petrol needs. Bio-diesel isn’t a long-term, mass-application solution, it simply allows small communities/people to become more self-sufficient.
IMO, diesel is the next step forward. With technology the way it is, it is VERY possible to produce diesel engines that produce very small amounts of pollution (especially comapred to diesels from the 80’s) and produce far more HP and gas mileage. Usually cars with diesel engines get better mileage and HP than their gas powered brethren. Compare big diesel trucks to their gas engine brothers–usually FAR more torque, similar HP, and at least about 15-20% better mileage.
The beauty of diesel is that the infrastructure is already there. We are just aking that oil and stretching it a lot further.
Of course, someone needsto get to the bottom of the price gouging for diesel. That shit is just wrong…
hydrogen should be the next step, cali already has some stations throughout the state…
im outi
Roberth
Hydrogen is good. I see diesel mostly as a stopgap til the next best thing is found. I mean, diesel STILL uses the fossil fuels that are buttfucking us. It just means that what it uses is better conserved than regular gas. Hydrogen has far more benefits, dont get me wrong, but it has no infrastructure to speak of yet. The infrasturcture for diesel is already there, just ramp up production and slow on regulr gas (BTW, diesel is FAR cheaper and easier to produce than gasoline is). Pumps and tanks and stations are all available. You wouldnt have to be building something completely different all over the country.
Of course, it doesnt really matter what we think because a)we have no power/$$ and b)they dont care what we thinkg
$3.50 here in Lebanon, TN
diesel + stick shift jettas get about 45MPG… diesel + stick shift beetles get about 60MPG…
that is all.
