THE GAS THREAD- News, Prices, and Feelings (5+ years in the making)

there you go… fucking assholes with their new cars…

nah, i got a 2006 chevy aveo. i can’t afford anything more than $8k right now, and this was a fairly new car, $7.8k, and had everything i wanted… 20k highway miles on it… i already put 12k more miles on that shit… only had it since august…

Before that I had a 92 Ford Mecury Tracer, still didn’t feel the price difference much. I guess I just don’t get upset over gas prices, I look at it as one less pizza I can order for the week.

good shit… positivity! w00t

Screw it, I normally didn’t factor Gas into my budget, but now, 35-38 bucks a week for gas (60 miles roundtrip to work, all highway). Its not fazing me at all, just set the money aside every two weeks for two weeks and I am cool. I am using that to my advantage though, since I am one of the furtherest employees in the company, the “I am working from home” line does come out when it needs to.

I cut out fast foods and eating out everyday at work out my diet/life and that MORE than covers the cost of gas; plus its healthier.

you know, i’ve found that i eat healthier now as well. i eat a lot more fruit because it’s cheaper, drink water instead of soda because it’s cheaper, and when i do get stuff other than fruit, it’s like a 60-cent can of chicken, steal a packet of fat-free mayo from the deli, and make chicken salad and crackers… so yup… i’ve been eating healthier… but i still smoke…

Gas is $3.35 where I live. My 05 Corolla gets 27mpg, and it’s an 11 gallon tank so I’m not to sad, but my 02 Odyssey gets 15-18mpg, and it’s a 15 gallon tank, so I cry a little everytime I fill that sucker up (Corolla = my car, Odyssey = wife’s car).

$3.15 or so here in Lebanon, TN. It’s about 32 or so for my 90 Corolla to fill up (thank god she gets like 36MPG). I feel sorry for the diesel people, though–$3.89 in this neck of the woods. Why the crap is diesel so expensive? Usually it costs a little more, but when oil goes up, diesel flat out rockets out of control. Hell, right before the gas started going up again, diesel was as cheap if not cheaper than regular fuel…

I think we are getting to a point where having a car with more than 4 cylinders is a luxury. I guess having your toy/hobby/track car would be cool, but not as a daily driver.

looks like summer imma just be crusin the block…LOL

$3.08 in NC at BJ’s Wholesale…thats practically all I use the card for now.

HAHA! I drive a accent too!

WTF, Gas companies!!!

Why are you fuckin’ with us :annoy:

The other day gas was like at $3.12 in Texas, and I notice it slowly going down to like $3.09 (perty much going down a penny a day).

Now, today I just saw it jump up to $3.24?!?!? WTF?!?!?!? :wasted:

Gas prices are still floatin’ around the $3.50 mark over here.

Come summer we’re gonna think $3.50 was a great deal vs whatever the hell we’re gonna have to pay.

I shell out $3.70 a gallon for premium. Not that I want to, but my car requires it. Wish I had my civic again…

Your crying over $3.24? you got it good man =(

Gas average is $3.20 here in Phoenix, AZ. I’m glad I started taking the bus to work, but this will really suck when summer starts next month.

^^ they say it will hit $4.00+ a gallon this summer too

It’s fucking $3.39 for regular here! it takes $50 to fill up the tank for a week! and all I do is go to work, go home, and go get groceries/gas once a week.

Needless to say I cut back everything I do. heck I used to buy at least 1 new game and 1 new transformer a month but I cut that shit out now. and now with the price of food going up I’ve been eating less too. however a good side effect is I’m starting to lose a little weight.

If I need something now I take the Bicycle to Wally world that is about 2 miles form the house. you’d be surprised at the number of bikes you see chained up outside of places now too.

it already hit $4.00+ in my area. (San Francisco)

Well, you ARE on the Left Coast. Most of the discrepancies between prices regionally is due to one thing: the gasoline tax.

Do a bit of research into what your state collects per gallon, then start pestering lawmakers in your area to either:

a) impose a moratorium on collection (some states have done this to lower prices; what they do is just not collect the tax for a certain period of time), or
b) simply lower the tax by a quarter (25).

Either of these measures will lower the prices almost immediately, and increase tax revenues elsewhere.

Not when you live in Texas…

Finally hit a new high of $3.29 here. Now to get my motorcycle license to get 80mpg to crash and burn.
