You 3rd player’s have it way too good. I knew i should have picked up 3s:rolleyes:… Its not to late for me though…

It’s definitely not too late to pick up dat 3rd. There’s a lot of middle ground as far as tourney players where you can pick up the game and with practice do pretty well simply because a lot of the middle ground isn’t super strong at the game. The game doesn’t necessarily play a whole lot like other SF games strategy wise but having SF knowledge under your belt will help you understand the basics that other 3S players have trouble with. Once you get to learning the timings for parrying of attacks and option selecting you’ve already got half of the game down. It’s not like CVS2 or Marvel where you got sooo much to learn just to even have a chance of breaking top 8 at a tourney. The biggest hurdle in 3S is the top of the top US players and obviously the Japanese who definitely are that much better at the mind games of 3S. People talk about how the strategies are very basic but it’s defintely a long road to being top of the top. Especially considering we still haven’t taken the top spot at Evo yet.
It’s funny because I used to think at one point that 3S was never gonna get anywhere. I’ve been in a 3S fan since back when everyone hated on it on the Dreamcast. I feel good to be one of the older school 3S players who know about the struggle to get the game to where it is today. If you had asked me 5 years ago if I thought 3S would ever get this big I’d say no way…there’s too many haters, CVS2 and Marvel are poppin off and there’s not much hope without a PS2 release. Now the game is just blown up and it’s pretty much the game to be competitive in with newer players popping up all the time.

CvS2 over GG is actually surprising, considering GG would’ve brought in more heads than CvS2 and more money overall, especially considering that Evo needs the money now that there are no more sponsors and regional events.
I’ll still be going to Evo, most likely (gotta learn dat Smash first though), for a GG side tournament, party in Vegas, and watch some crazy matches (really excited for STHD); however, I hope with CvS2 being at Evo again this year that the community kicks it into high gear before and after Evo. If the CvS2 community continues the way its been going for the past year (i.e. not really anywhere, seemingly on a decline) then it would have been a big waste to have it at Evo compared to GG. Just my thoughts.
Hopefully GG will be back at Evo next year.
