The thing is though is that this scene happens before Jaime begins redeeming himself in the books. The show started his shift into a somewhat decent human being too early and they shouldn’t have included this scene at all if they wanted the audience to believe his character was changing. The whole scene just felt really out of place.

Just when people were beginning to like Jaime they do this. I agree it’s out of place. The show needs more rape though. They talk of rape a lot but the only time I saw it was when drogo was forcing the doggy style on Emily Clark.

Where are the Blurred Line memes?

So I’ve been looking through the interwebs to see the buzz about the scene and the results are quite interesting:

-Some fans are upset the scenario is not at all like what’s depicted in the books.
-Fangirls are upset that Jaime got character assassinated after his winding road to redemption.
-Feminazis are calling it evidence of rape culture in the media.
-George R.R. Martin is playing the Swiss diplomat card.
-And some girls are pretty much admitting that they fingered themselves to the scene.

The latter I find funny, because that’s quite a weird cultural divergence between “No means no, no exceptions!” and “The way he grabbed Cersei and threw her to the ground was soooo hawwwt!”

Humans are interesting…

Cant believe people put a 2nd thought into the scene tbh, they are a pair of incestuous maniacs and part of the most fucked up family in a world where brothers will willing give his sister up to barbarian hordes just so he can stick a few brown people in his army.

Yeah…I wouldn’t give much, if any thought to what the stupid Feminazis are saying considering they’re more fucked up than anything that’s happened on the show. Hm…maybe THEY were born from incest? I’m starting to think that would make a surprising amount of sense.

Dany amassing a metric ass ton of grunts. Gonna be hard to stop her once she lands on Westeiros.

They dont make it to westeiros bro, they stop by monkey village just before getting the the port and they all succumb to aids.

Just this on Twitter: http://www.danbarham.com/dinklage/

No kidding. Every character in this series is screwed up.

I didn’t really put any thought in the scene when I first watched it, because they are so fucked up. However, when people started to say that it was a completely different scenario than the books, I looked into it. It just seemed weird though given that when writers create a story they tend to stick to the narrative and plot they spent a lot of time building towards. In this case, Jaime sacrificed himself to save Brienne from being brutally raped, and mentions how rape is worse than death, only for the writers/directors to put him in an ambiguous situation that challenges his morality.

Honestly, I’m glad I don’t read the novels based on all these book based dramas, it just makes a complication of one’s expectations and causes them to overanalyze every frame. At least this way I can just take the show for what it is, and be none the wiser.

What does annoy me is that people want a thematic drama, but without the gritty “reality” of what occurs in a pseudo-Medieval era. Maybe they should stick to Robin Hood: Men in Tights then.

People are over analyzing it just to milk everything from it though. It wasnt even a rape scene, Cerci clearly wanted the D, was it fucked up that they did the deed under their dead son? Yes. Was that scene particularly fucked up for GoT? Hell no.

When I watched it it was like “meh, fucking lanisters”. Am surprised people are talking about it like something special happened, it was clearly :coffee: for GoT if youve read the books or not.

I never believed it was rape, but maybe the director should have made that a tad more clear.

Oh no Jaime is a hypocrite o_0!

Oh no people can do unexpected things!

Lol

I’ll “take” my women roughly, if that’s what she wants.

A bit of detail on Dorne, good info a bunch of spoilers though

Maybe next episode they show them naked talking to each other plotting to kill Tyrion. I dont think Cerci considers it rape, its more like i got a headache & our son is dead, not here can we mourn please then fuck…

How dare Tywin disrespect King Joffrey like that. A king needs to be an asshole just so niggas know their place. GoT is gone be a lot less interesting without him around. That girl who travels with The Hound and Tywin are the only interesting characters left.

R.I.P Eternal King Joffrey and Rob Stark.

Jon Snow will be bad ass when he stops being bitch made, am guessing he will become overlord of the world after pulling off the most epic solo vs dragos (big dragon) and will probably settle down to a quiet life and bang his 2 half sisters.

There’s a dissonance between the vocal minority harping on about what women should want, and the majority. The fact of the matter is no does not always equal no; in this day and age it sounds horrible, said aloud, but it is the truth. The fact of the matter is it is impossible to ascertain whether or not it is rape, without knowing their sexual history with one another. For all we know, she has put up a similar resistance in the past, only to rebuke him for stopping.

It is like, I see the things people whine about, and think to myself ‘‘are you being honest with yourself’’. Reminds me of the big stink kicked up over that blurred line song ( In the UK anyway); I thought to myself, ‘‘are the contents of the song inaccurate…’’. It’s like people are trying to be this cardboard cut out of a cause.

Anyway; the highlight of the episode, for me, was Tywin speaking ill of Joffrey, whilst Cersei mourned in the background.

These people obviously don’t care that they are siblings and she’s wanted the D before. Like rcaido said, we’ll know for sure if it’s actually rape the next time we see them interact with one another. But I’m betting they’ll be perfectly fine. She might actually want the D again.

People are fine with watching people pay for sex, have gay sex, killing people because of who is/isn’t having sex, midget sex, talking about and referring to underage sex, incest, but the possibility of rape and all hell breaks lose.
