scene stealer…

So I’ve been weary of joining this discussion(or any internet discussion bout this show for that matter) for fear of people posting book spoilers but I really wanna talk about last weeks episode. Is this thread safe for people who haven’t read the books yet? Or should I just continue on my merry way?

i also havent read the books, and there has been a few instances where spoilers were gonna be told, but they were only close calls. the only thing that keeps resurfacing is how disturbing a supposed “red wedding” is.

worst we can do is shake our fists in the air if we get spoiled, so its always a risk.

A Lannister always pays their debts.

Good lawd…

There should be a seperate Ice and Fire Series / Bitch about disparities between the show and the book thread IMO.

Brotherhood stuff hasn’t been explained yet.

yeah i don’t get the book purists. this is much, much better than we had any right to expect. yeah some things could be improved, but letting that stop you from enjoying the series just seems like cutting off your nose to spite the face. i enjoy the series as a separate entity from the books.

besides, i’m not going to fly into aspie rage over the writers taking creative liberties with the story. in fact, i’m hoping they do a better job finish this series than martin has so far.

I think we saw at least one of the Brotherhood last season, but I don’t think they mentioned it.

Yeah, their leader was briefly shown in a scene. It was a very minor part, but it’s there.

More so to avoid spoilers to the plot for those who only want to watch the show.

Brotherhood couldn’t have been around last season. Stop confusing the poor people.

I don’t know all the specifics. I just play the card game and read spoilers online. I haven’t read the books. I know who the Brotherhood are…just not why they are. I confuse only myself!

Yeah there’s only so much you can show in 10 episodes. Even tho I prefer the books, the show is excellent (mostly because of Tyrion, haha).

I’m gonna guess that the brotherhood is…

Book spoiler!

Spoiler

Robert’s old crew who stuck together after his death.

yea, pretty much. They claim to be loyal to him, but they weren’t necessarily his crew or anything.

[details=Spoiler]After Catelyn captures Tyrion, Tywin sends out ser gregor, AKA the mountain, and his men to pillage the riverlands. Ned Stark sends Beric Dondarion and some of his own men to deal with them. The brotherhood is led by Dondarion and is made up of the remnants of this force plus random fighters picked up…
some extra info that hasn’t been in the show yet

Spoiler

there’s also a red priest who’s been reviving Dondarion with magic because the dude keeps dying

.[/details]

we’ve hashed this out, there isn’t a big enough fan base on this forum to justify two separate threads for book and show, so any book discussion that hasn’t already been shown in the series will be done in spoiler tags.

the rest should be safe for viewers such as yourself who are new to the series, unless a real asshole stops by

Show is like the replacement for Boardwalk Empire. Really well done and always solid. There’s never been an episode where after I saw it I’ve said “That was lame”.

They are doing a good job covering like 30 plot lines each episode in only an hour.

just watched the new episode. tyrion is easily the best character on this show. best part of the ep this week, (at least for me), was that i had just caught up to this part in the second book. also, the redhead witch is hot

Book purists need to get off their high horse. 90% of the people talking about Game of thrones didn’t even know who George R.R Martin was until a year ago.

i got introduced to ASOIAF through sheer chance. i was walking in the library and literally grabbed a book at random from the shelves. it was clash. i saw that it was part of a series, so i put it back and got the first volume.

so i knew nothing whatsoever about the series until i started reading it, and was immediately hooked
