The Game of Thrones OFFICIAL thread

well man, i really recommend you read through storm of swords now before it gets spoilered for you cause that is his magnum opus

^ yeah thst was pretty fucked up. This show owns, Iā€™ll have to read the books after Dark tower.

I just found a site with chapter by chapter summaries. So gonna finish that and get back on track. Yeah, I heard storm of swords is pretty epicā€¦ canā€™t wait till I crack it open. (Iā€™ve had SoS laying around for 4 years haha)

On a sidenote, just watched the first episode. Pretty good. Tyrion getting mad t&a, Daenerysā€™ thick ass and incest whattt??? Production looks really well done, acting is pretty good. Iā€™m loving it so far.

how fantasy is this shit?

is there like dragons and monsters and shit?

or is it more ā€˜realisticā€™ fantasy

my friend Weeks once said, this book series isnā€™t ā€œDungeons and *******ā€

so thereā€™s not pointy eared elves running around throwing lightning bolts.

its a low magic fantasy setting, kind of like LOTR. magic appears rarely and infrequently.

Iā€™m holding off on watching this series until I can finish the first book. Iā€™m hearing from friends that the first episode was quite good, although the transition from book to TV series was understandably shaky.

I was so pissed off at that point of the book, I told my wife I wouldnā€™t finish reading unless she told me if Bran survives.

Great telling of the books from what I saw. Everyone pretty much looked like I imagined them too. I thought Winterfell would be more woodsier, but other than that itā€™s awesome.

Itā€™s not super-fantasy - like LotR, but they introduce some dragons much later on. And zombies. >:)

Honestly I thought Tyrion would be uglier. Like smeagolish lol. I think Cat is a bit fugly as well. Cersei, Dany, Ned and Robert look exactly how I imagined them.

Game of Thrones renewed for second season

I wonder if that was a stunt butt.

Co-signed.

Crows ought to litigate for slander, as bad as Feast was.

He basically turned a tightly knit, character driven story into herp-derp fan-fap-fiction, with that one.

Only fat-ass basement dwelling Dungeons & Dragons lovin, closet weeaboos would ever even BEGIN to formulate the thought of, much less full-on desiring page time being given to a morbidly obese virgin getting his freak on with a lactating inbreed.

That was, of course, much better than the Cersei chapters.

What the fuck was Martin smoking when he decided to give her her own PoV?

Dance ainā€™t gonna ever redeem it, but if it doesnā€™t suck, and he gets the rest of the series out in the next couple of years, I might muster enough interest to finish what I started.

But I doubt* he *will.

As I see it.

So Iā€™m going to start watching this show after I read this:

Cops: Man Battered Kin During Argument Over HBOā€™s ā€œGame Of Thronesā€ | The Smoking Gun

Update - A Song of Ice and Fire - George R. R. Martinā€™s Official Website

Really is done. July date is real.

Great.

Call me when he gets the other 2-3 done.

Iā€™m not fucking with it until then.

In all probability, Sanderson is going to have such a lucrative career ghost writing, that heā€™s never going to get another original work done, lol.

Yeah, I love Brandon Sanderson. Too bad itā€™s going to be a long time until the next WoK is out.

Friend of mine begged me to read the books but I never got around to it. Definitely going to give them a try. Only a few episodes in and Iā€™m hooked.

Too much incest though. Not cool.

its not incest its WINcest

itā€™s got a lot of fantasy elements (dragons, undead creatures) but theyā€™re actually rather muted

The magical elements are really low key, in fact most of the characters donā€™t believe in magic or that dragons ever even existed, to them itā€™s mostly legend and shit. You arenā€™t going to see wizards throwing fireballs and stuff like that; you will see a lot of people getting their shit wrecked in swordfights though.

Itā€™s a lot more focused on political wheeling and dealing, battles, shifting strategies, etc. Itā€™s loosely inspired by the Wars of the Roses that took place in England where Lancaster and York fought over the British crown

That said, it is, at the end, a fantasy series, and the fantasy elements are crucial to the story (The Others, the Wall, the dragons) so those things will come up.

lol fish: you remember the message my friend texted me when he read the part about the Red Wedding?

Pm me that text, lol.

The red weddingā€¦

Martin himself skipped giving the worst details in prose, but the series is probably not going to.

Great 2 episodes so far, but I will not read the books.
Short attention span in my adulthood.
