Just because someone finds a setting to be hackneyed and forced doesnât mean they donât understand what is being portrayed. There are better ways to drive a narrative that doesnât involve some fantasy version of a '50s street gang Doo-wopping over a burning trashcan, featuring Ed Sheeran. Felt like some overpriced Superbowl promotional.
That was the tension in the scene. Is Arya going to kill some Lannisters?
Still, thatâs what Iâm wondering. Is she still going to murder them sometime before next episode. Like, she rides away on her horse saying something nice, but the camera pans out to reveal a very dead Ed with a hole in his eye. Or will she really just be on her way.
If she kills them all in the night, which is more a faceless manâs skill set, what does that tell the audience about her? Sheâs now really a cold mother fucker who will kill everyone. So weâd have a hard time to find sympathy for this confirmed indiscriminate, cold blooded killer.
Anyways, I think she lets them live so the audience can see she has some humanity left, but Iâm probably wrong.
Oh shit shall we begin? My nigga the Hound getting fast tracked to becomming the Lord of Light or some bullshit, normally he cant even look at fire and now its granting him the power of precognition. Nice touch him burying the farmer and the daughter, his character development has been the highlight of the show for me.
The Ed Sheeran part was forced but not a big deal. Aryaâs actor is a fangirl of the guy and got him in herself.
Him being there doesnât take away from the tension of the scene and the interesting things they are setting up with Aryaâs character. She is now in a scenerio where if she keeps her beliefs of killing all Lannisters she will be making a full heel turn. Becoming the monster or not going full serial killer and joining her family.
Letting some guest who barely had any lines ruin a cool plot set up for you is misguided.
I didnât know Ed Shereen was going to have a cameo, so I didnât know it was him in that scene and it didnât seem horribly out of place. It sounds like yall werenât going to like any scene with him in it. Solid season premiere, canât wait for next week.
Okay episode, just the Frey lot dying and thatâs it. Kingâs Landing scenes were kinda boring and so were the Old Town ones. Clegane finding his humanity and the discovery of the dragon glass over in Dragonstone weâre great scenes.
Prior to the season premiere, I watched the recap episode âGame of Thrones - The Story So Farâ with some bits having members of the cast sharing their thoughts. One thing I noticed was that the main cast was NOT part of the episode and only featured actors whose characters had died or been written out of the story.
Among them were Finn Jones (Ser Loras), Iwan Rheon (Ramsay Bolton), Michelle Fairley (Catelyn Stark) and Kristian Nairn (Hodor). [details=Spoiler]Curiously, Jacob Anderson (Grey Worm) was there also which means he will perish soon enough, maybe within the season.
[/details]
Last scene of the episode was nicely done, looking forward to next week.
My only complaint about the Sheeran thing (not knowing it was him before I read up on the episode after having watched it) is the sound mixing.
They made the singing sound like a backing soundtrack, not guys singing in the woods. I seriously thought it was just a backing track for some reason until the soldiers appeared.
On the special features, they provide an after season interview with characters who died that season, e.g. after season 4 you get Shae and Tywin actors. I wish they were able to spend more time with them, itâs always so entertaining to see them reflect on their time.
Shae and Tywinâs first days on set were under particularly brutal conditions.
this was a TV special on Sky 1 leading up to the first episode of this season. there were non-GoT people/fans among the talking bits but it was the part i had pointed out that stood for me since this was surely not going to be a part of the DVD/bluray set they always release when a season wraps up.
iâm calling it already then.
Spoiler
grey worm kicks the bucket but MAAAYBE he gets to pork missandei. how heâs going to do that is anybodyâs guess and/or filthy imagination lolololol
Whatever happened to the Dothraki soldiers that were loyal to Daenerys? I recall season 2 (or 3) in where she was like in some pyramid in where one of the Dothraki soldiers was trying to protect her from the undead. They just disappeared the moment Daenerys meets the masters of the unsullied⌠unless i missed an episode that explains what happened to them.
I dont listen to garbage pop music so I had no clue who the hell ed sheeren was. He just looked like some regular ugly ass dude dont see what the big deal is.
Nah fuck that guy, radio station we have on at work spammed the shit out of him at the start of this year, fuck hearing him at least 4 times a day, especially when one of his fucking songs is just the same as one of his others but with someone rapping over it.
And if that wasnât enough the news kept fucking talking about the fucker and his tours or whatever bullshit it was too, fucker was the Roman Reigns of the radio.
Damn, if his character shows up again it better be a fucking death scene.
