Yeah I’m with you on there. SF4’s great for what it is but when you venture into new games nowadays, they don’t feel as easy and people may correlate it with more time consuming waste with training mode in another game that they think may or may not be more popular. But then again like these new games may not allow you to mash more, it just has a little more precise requirement.
Let’s be honest, TTT2 is hella intimidating, but after taking some time to look at how the juggling and stuff works, it’s all just about visual confirmation anyway. See something pop up? Let it float down to your head’s height and just start rhythmically push buttons. All of this pays off and lends itself to other games too. Which IMO helped me relearn older games better personally.
Honestly trying out the newer games made me realize I could do a lot better in the execution department and refining it with multiple games is a universal progression.
I think some of you are more appreciative for SFxT because it isn’t an auto-pilot fest. The only real auto-piloting of the game may be a few jumpy chars and boost combos but beyond that it’s all memorizing which buttons to push for the lengthy stuff. It’s good stuff man.
How many of you guys have Skype? I’ve decided that for my livestream, I’ll just commentate sets of Ranked Matches from ssf4evo’s channel and I’d love to have a different person from the Defense Force each week join me and make any corrections. Shoot me a PM if any of you are interested.
i dropped AE but it wasnt because i couldnt play both and it wasnt because of time. I only played SF4 as long as I did because it was the only real option i had for online play using Vega. It wasnt really fun… so much as it was work. SFxT tho is fun. So i stick with this one
OPh look at all those people who played 3S, MVC2, CVS2, and ST back in the day, such a rare sight. Dropping games is some of te dumbest shit, you don’t need to be godlike at everything, just practice enough to get solid and compete a bit just to have fun. I play SFxT, UMVC3, Aquapazza, BlazBlue, CVS2, TTT2, VF5, DOA5, and Melty Blood all right now. And that’s only current games not counting ones like 3S, ST, MVC2, Breakers, VSAV, Karnov’s, KOF98, KOF2k2, and countless others. Play what you like dammit.
IIRC a lot of people that were ST players hated MvC1 and 2 (like me), also a lotta people that liked Alpha 2/3 jumped on CvS1 and 2 and dropped alpha series. And IIRC, i think there was a big split in the FGC between 3S, CvS2, and MvC2. I dont think there were too many players that stuck with all 3 games or even 2. I know i only stuck with 1. I dropped ST for A1, A1 for A2, A2, for A3 (wish they kept A1 and A2 control system in A3), dropped A3 for CvS1, dropped CvS1 for CvS2, etc etc until now.
This isnt to say there’s anything wrong with playing multiple games, or that it’s not possible to excel in multiple games. But it sure does make it harder to have a large player base with more games for people to choose from, and it makes it harder to excel in because you have way more information to cover.
Their were alot of players that played all three, they may not have been the best but they were competent. What I’m getting at is that this whyole 1 game and 1 game only shit is purely BS. I can’t believe nigs are complaining about to many games coming out, all that means is more options if people got off this stupid shit.
yeah you but cant deny that it shrinks the player base. You draw people into a genre by providing a bad ass game everyone wants and gets excited about. Like seriously, why is playstation all stars and injustice coming out? how well do these developers actually plan on their games selling? I still to this day have no idea what all the P4A hype was all about. SCV i expected to flop, KoF13 I expected to flop although it’s gone on a lot longer than I expected, MK was an obvious flop although it too did a lot better than i expected…
but my perspective is from the point of view of a more than casual player. I dunno the sales figures on any of these games so maybe in the end it was worth it. Even if the general competitive community only plays it for 3 months.
I’m pretty sure tho that Injustice will be dead competitively within 6 months of release and playstation all stars will be dead within 3 months of release. By dead I mean the games getting about as much coverage as SCV and MK right now.
That must mean SFxT is beyond “dead”. P4A is just the new hyped anime fighter that’s a pretty decent game. But it’s sad that most are just using it as a place holder until the new BB and GG drop, that’s when most likely P4A will be played by the dedicated fans only.
What makes P4A so “hated” anyway? It seems like a pretty decent fighter to me. The only issues I really see with it are the auto-combos and easy reversals.
Granted, I haven’t really played it yet, only seeing gameplay footage, but it doesn’t look that bad.
IMO it pretty much is. I mean look at the character forums. Most dont even have people posting in them anymore. There are times where an endless search shows zero lobbies for extended periods of time. There are probably only a couple thousand people that play this game regularly, and only a couple hundred at any given time. If adding 12 new characters and fixing the basic issues with the gameplay didnt save this game then it’s pretty much done. It didnt help that TTT2, P4A, and DoA5 came out, or that MrWiz said early on that SFxT wont be at Evo, or that it was barely covered at all at Evo, or the issues with the gems both pre and post launch, etc etc etc
dont get me wrong i dont think it’s a bad game at all… i just dont get what the big deal was about it pre release
P4A came with the “honest fighter” feel, that everyone harps on about now a days. And the only character forum that I usually see booming is the lili forums. She must have some awesome tech being discovered.
I’m hoping that the anti-roll tech I found will get more character forums to be active…considering that while I discovered it with Heihachi it can apply to more than one character.
Currently working on a video…should be uploaded soon.
She just has a lot of good tools and she really transferred over into this game really well. A lot of Lili players are vocal and don’t mind sharing tech and strategies. Don’t be fooled though, there aren’t many Lili players out there despite how balanced and solid she is.
But… how could anyone not like DOA5?
Aside from how they changed not only how stuns and holds, core mechanics of the game, actually work, aside from how they put effort into making every character actually look and feel unique…
The game has juggles *and *jiggles. Seriously, what more do you people want?
People have to go derp on anything they can’t adapt to. It’s even more stupid when they even don’t play the game (which most of the SFxT hate is made of: false info).
I’m not saying that the flops weren’t good games. I’m just saying that they aren’t going to last competetively. TTT2 has the best shot at being the next years long lasting FG… but even that I don’t see happening.
More options = playerbase spread thinner across each game. Longer wait times online, less competition/skilled players, less exploration of each game etc. etc. Why is that so difficult to understand?
Get out here with that bullshit I figured out a ton of stuff about Fighter’s History Dynamite and Breakers Revenge on my own there is only a handful of people that play those games. And, if you have no body to play sit in training mode figuring out new combos and maybe glitches.
