The Future of SFxT

Sorry. You know how it is with this kind of ‘discussion’.

Lol sry i laughed.
And he got infracted. =)

Never get tired of hearing how shitty SF4 supposedly is. SFxT is a better game but there’s no need to take a dump on the series it branched off from.

So all the people complaining about X-Factor and Wesker’s crap doesn’t count? Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is free as hell, anyone telling you any different is either lying to themselves or is just that ignorant but let’s not even start to ignore how much of a blatant cash grab SFxT has become.

Still alot of improvements need to be made to SFxT but even Capcom is doubting if it’s worth the trouble.

Source?

Honestly? This game only needs a few tweaks and it’s good to go. It doesn’t need an overhaul and most of the things people complain about baselessly are evident in SF4 which is still the highest entry fighter for just about every week and major and people just DEAL WITH IT. So yeah, people still don’t realize a lot of the hate SFxT gets is not entirely gameplay related and it is also unfounded. I very much understand and don’t like the DLC practices either but the game is enjoyable and they won’t get another nickel or dime off me unless they’re very very pretty costumes for which I also paid for on SF4/SSF4.

Anyways, I can outline a few things they can just adjust and the game turns into a new dynamic. Most characters probably don’t need a huge overall balance, a few changes can make all the difference as we can see in how they have handled SF4 up to AE 2012. You can definitely blow people up in about 2-3 combos for frayyyy without having to time out. People just aren’t learning the game. I’ve started to play it a bit more now and I like how the DLC characters are tuned. I think the game needs more passive system wide tuning than individual character “issues” if there are any.

Cut grey health, less incentive to heal but it doesn’t make it a free pass to win for some matches that drag. There are turtling playstyles everywhere so you cannot argue this is a bad thing of the game. No matter how much damage they put into the characters in a balanced manner and what not, someone will down-back in here.
Speed up walking, shifts the movement in the stages.
Stages shortened, this won’t happen but it would be great. Shorter stages, more attacking, less walking, more meter, more “offense”, more tagging, etc etc…
Make tech rolls throwable while retaining strike/projectile invincibility. I like having options and vortex stuff is mindless shenanigans. SF4 is designed off it and there’s clearly very strong characters that have a very clear advantage with it using option selects.
Or make tech roll distances shortened
And one last thing, reduce juggle potential counters on a lot of moves. This is a game celebrating both franchises with the latter (Tekken) being extremely juggle and bounce happy, it saddens me to see unhittable states achieved so fast for certain characters and it pales in comparison to some explored teams. Look at Ryan Hunter’s Julia x Steve Fox team…

3% timeout master race laughs at you all

No concrete proof but the timer is something that doesn’t seem to be much of an issue to fix. Atleast pause the timer during the supers/ultras etc.
Guy’s Elbow Drop does not hit aerial opponents, minor gripe but I main the dude so…
The number of stages should be increased, this is more of a cosmetic change but hey this would add to the general enjoyment of the game.

BTW how much are the alt costumes going to cost? You know the ones that are being held on to most likely for the PS Vita relief.

i couldn’t fucking tell you what my numbers are since my data likes to keep corrupting on me.

As much as I love this game and want it to live some of you defenders are on some funky ass stuff if you think throws and walk speeds are fine. ESPECIALLY walk speeds, walking in this game is ass.

It’s true that some characters have very slow walkspeeds and that throws have poor range and slower startup than AE.

However, what most players don’t understand is that walkspeed and throw range barely matters since you either frame trap as a meaty, via a string or CADC most of the times. And the generally slow walkspeed is ironically what helps bad characters play footsies with stronger characters. Again, different game, different rules.

20-25%? Even a basic boost combo does around 280-330 damage so the weakest combos in the game are between 28% and 33%. Average 1 bar is 400-480 damage. And between 500 and 600 for 2 bars. But some teams can do a lot more than that. DP xx tag cancel gets you like 400 something and knocksdown.

^ 4 small sequences showing how aggressive the game can be, why damage scaling barely matters, why offensive pressure is still better than defensive reversal xx tag cancel. Why frame traps and throws are still good, why wake up roll with no recovery doesn’t matter. Why time outs don’t happen that much when people know what they’re doing and don’t drop their stuff.

Yes, reversal DP xx switch is stronger than DP xx FADC from AE. But that’s also why it’s easy to bait and punish. When most players are low on life and they desperately need to tag, they start playing poorly and get predictable. And a lot of players with bad defense go for a hail mary DP xx switch if they have the meter. It’s an effective ass out move but at low levels mostly. At high level you still see it, but players need to have setups for them or do them at times where it’s less expected because everyone has setups to make your shit whiff.

tell sakura that. bitch is near running with her walk speed.

…And THAT is why I said it might have been best if Tataki just went to bed before owning that statement.

Honestly Sakura and Akuma and characters close to those are the only ones with walkspeeds that are acceptable to me, everyone else moves way to fucking slow and combined with such large stages moving around feels like a chore.

then there are some exceptions. Like lili has a slow walk speed but her feisty rabbit spin can either move her slowly or greatly across the screen. Most of the slower characters are anchors anyway. Decent speed moving characters are usually point. I like the pace of the game. It does have it’s lulls in the fray but i use that time to think of my next approach or how to counter my opponent.

I would rather just speed up the time duration of supers/cross art, and not make it eat up so much time. Time outs aren’t really a bad thing, the issue is that certain things that the player cannot control that eat up too much time for my taste. Like in 6-5 left sec in the clock, you can’t do a cross-art before a time over.

SF4 had the same problem, I didn’t like in that game…I’ll probably won’t like it in SFXT either.

Can you please stop getting your jimmies rustled?

Whatever you problem is, it is more than obvious that the popularity of SFXT is not the best it could be. UMVC3 and SF4 get hate as well, but the different is that people keep on playing it. It doesn’t matter if which game is better or not, results are results. UMVC3 and SF4 have been top 2 in everything. SFXT in entries offline have been lowered a peg and you could actually see SFXT pool matches on streams once a upon a time.

We never see SFXT in streams, we don’t know what exactly happen in SFXT Summer Jam and don’t see too much offline tournaments for the game. I feel like the SFXT should fix that. SFXT can be hype problem was that, the community didn’t show off that it was possible.

Again, if anyone is wanting to make this game get on to the limelight again. You all been told how to multiple times in other threads, but you guys are still complaining. All I can say is tough luck you had your free ride.

this thread is going nowhere and people aren’t even talking about progressive stuff and is another place where people are bickering. Imo just close it. Otherwise it’s going to be another 3 pages of why sfxt was a bad monterary purchase or how mechanics of the game suck and all these other semantics that do not even follow the intended subject of the post. All this has turned to is a “discussion thread” and more specifically, why we hate the game and why we love the game and defend it when people put it down.

Actually, people have been trying to put things in the works with online tournaments and letting people know when offline tourneys are going on. So it’s a start.

Best way to explain it really is that this game is finished and will never be in the limelight again, but there’s still a possibly of it having a niche, delicated community like 3S and VF. You just need to accept the fact that this game isn’t for everyone and make up for the lack of numbers by increasing the delication and coming out to more events. But bitching and complaining and refusing to do anything until the game becomes magically accepted by others is a way to guarantee that the game will die off even faster.

all i saw in vulcan video was opponents getting blown up. it didn’t answer any of my questions dealing with the shit walkspeed, shit oki, etc. you know what, i don’t care anymore. this game is pretty done anyway as far as being up there in popularity with sf4, umvc3, persona, etc. so at least when i go to tournaments, i’ll most likely never see this abomination.
