I don’t recall seeing diving from the Netherlands, but they were getting fouled a lot. Surprised there was only one red card awarded.
Getting stomped at by Bastos who eventually had to go before he risked a red card.
Not to mention receiving Melo’s boot like that.
The amount of fouls he had to put up with really showed that the Brazilians feared him.
Too bad De Jong and van der Wiel are missing the next match,especially Ajax youngster Vd Wiel is playing very well for someone who hasn’t even got 10 caps yet.
We’ve still got De Zeeuw and Schaars to play next to Van Bommel so that’s not a real problem.

Brazil played physical and yes playing that way will give fouls away, and yeah if you foul you deserve to get called for it, BUT what doesn’t help is holland rolling around faking injury, prime example bastios after he the yellow card fouled robben where his trailing foot CLIPPED! robbens, what does robben do? fly in the air and go down rolling around feigning injury trying to get bastios sent off.
And lets not forget van bommel who shouldn’t have even been on the pitch after at least commiting 3 yellow card fouls, but didn’t even get one so yeah there should have been more than one red card

he kept the ball and made 50% of Holland’s attacking game AND won a red card from brazil. You can hate him all you want but he’s still a very good player and nobody can deny that.

Perhaps that one was faked but all of the fouls before that one were real, adding up every single one of them was worth a yellow card.
Van Bommel knows how to play a ref, he did that after his very first foul and from that point on they became friend :lol:

Bastos should have been sent off, no doubt. Lucio could have been sent off for a handball in the box, which would have been a Dutch penalty. There was also a blatant off the ball, hands-raised foul by Lucio which by the book is a red.
I take your point about Van Bommel, but none of the fouls were yellow card offenses (although this is subjective), in fact in two cases he actually cleanly won the ball. I think one yellow is fair, especially considering neither Bastos nor Lucio was sent off.
I’m neutral by the way. With all respect I can’t help but think your view is being clouded by your lost bucks and hatred for Robben and Van Persie. The worst thing the dutch did was make the most of fouls, and let’s face it, EVERY team does that, including the ‘nice’ teams like Spain. (Torres vs Chile, Capdevila? vs Portugal).
There’s absolutely no doubt that Brazil were the dirtier team in that match. I haven’t even mentioned some of Maicon’s challenges when in attack.

I’ve never said robben was not a good player, but his antics are pretty boring and if i were a dutch man i’d be pretty embarrassed somebody like that was representing my country, talent or no talent.

Those two have very much quality in them to be compared to those and as for winning the red card that is not always bad, he didnt dive 100 metres he got fouled and stomped and THAT won him the red card.
