The Flash TV Series Thread

“Introducing” Linda Park? She was in the first fucking episode.

pilot you mean…musta got recasted.

Canary/Sara Lance was recast as well, same difference.

And besides, with all of DC’s New 52 dickriding, you’d think Patty Spivot would be showing up. That, I don’t actually mind - I like Patty for some reason.

new hot girl pretending to be a nerd is kinda hot

she’s triangulating my dicc

She isn’t new.

So has anyone been keeping up with barrys speed?

Episode 1 he was running at about 400mph, over 340 knots at the test. Not sure how much he sped up to unravel that tornado. I think episode 2 or 3 he said he can run a mile in 3 seconds, so that puts him at 1200mph, almost Mach 2. During the test runs and stuff, he seems to hover at 300+mph, but if he can run a mile in 3 seconds, he is basically just holding back right now, which is understandable since his speed still affects the environment around him.

Typically through mastery of the speed force, flash pretty much can do what he wants without affecting the surrounding environment, using his speed force aura, but i know thats dependent on the writing, and version of flash being used. In many cases he is mindful of his speed, as to not go mach 1 in a city and kill people, and destroy shit. Its a tv show, so i assume he wont be going too fast anytime soon, especially if youre trying to get at least 5-6 seasons out of this.

I’m sure they have good writers who can extend this out. If they can do it for smallville for superman, then they can do it with the flash. I dont expect the speedforce to be a thing until season 2 sometime, and maybe he gets a small taste of it at the end of season 1.

they’ve kinda hinted at speedforce stuff in the past couple episode. felicity asking about what happens if he goes too fast ect.he’s def holding back…not even cause of enviroment reasons but because he doesnt know what will happen. he is holding back in other areas purely because they dont know what will happen. i mean…the man hasnt even discovered the fact he can vibrate through things yet. give it some time.

It’s probably not that he’s holding back so much as he hasn’t tapped into his full potential. Last episode had him facing Captain Cold and he initially couldn’t outrun his beam to save a guy from being frozen to death, then later in the same episode he saves everyone in the train cars while they’re flipping/rolling on the ground.

Previews for the next episode or two shows him running up the side of a building and along water. Clearly they’re showing he’s still tapping into how fast he can go and what other uses his speed has (the guy can throw rocks like bullets for instance, but I doubt we’ll see him do that anytime soon).

Yeah, they have shown him be wayyy faster during times of crisis then when they are testing his limits. He is not consciously going to his full potential on this show alone, let alone what he is capable of in comics.

which is normal in flash…alot of wallys speed tricks were subconcious. especially when he tapped into the speed force…when everything went slowmo the first time it was like his version of spidey senses.

The writers could easily explain it by noting that his body and powers are slowly adapting/evolving even after the coma. Barry being ashamed of not being able to save that man’s life made him even more determined to save those train passengers, it didn’t seem like a subconscious effort but more of a test of willpower to go faster than he has normally done before. Maybe he just unlocked that extra level of speed (an extra portion of the speedforce if you will), and now he’ll be more easily able to achieve that same sense of speed afterward.

The other various uses of superspeed (vibrating molecules, tornado arms) are more than likely just an issue of experience more than anything. He doesn’t know what he can do until he actually conceives the idea in his head and attempts it, and that’s a reasonable thing in terms of his day-to-day usage of his powers and the show’s episodic nature.

The only reason he couldn’t outrun the Ice Beam was because he got shot beforehand.

he hasnt tapped into anything speedforce wise. everything so far is normal flash stuff, i was just using some of wallys stuff an example since this version of barry is very much a mix of both original barry and wally. i expect wally’s mental block to come into more obvious play later in this series.

i think the writers are fucking up personally if they plan on introducing wally later on.

Hasn’t he? Dude left his best friend mid conversation and she didn’t even notice he was gone, time literally stopped.

Preview to next episode

Okay… that was pretty fucking awesome :o

YEEEEEEES

thats normal. i cant speak too much on barry cause he was dead when i grew up. but wallys always been able to do that, what is more speedforce related is when he’s having a conversation and the speedforce kicks in due to danger.

when he got back from the speedforce adventures…he got attacked by super speed ninjas. everything automatically slowed down for him. hence why the speed force tends to be like his spidey senses in the latter of the 90s.

but wally has always been able to run as speeds that made everyone slow down, ever flash has even the ones who never touched the speedforce.

I appreciate seeing him doing things for the first time. In Justice League cartoons/movies, he runs on water and up buildings like nothing. It’s a given he can do those things. Plus it’s hilarious he pumps himself up too before saving that guy.

Dat Clancy Brown General Eiling.
