The first tournament. Are you/do you know one of the people too b**** to enter?

I just started going to tourniments, nothing huge, $5-$20 buy ins for varrying ammounts of prize money and I got to say, I loved the whole experience. It’s like everything is on a bigger scale compared to casuals. I play far beyond my level in the clutch (though when I screwed up, I screw up big LOL). And the competition is always great. Not like the random Flowchart Kens you run into online, these people actually know their craft, and can teach you somthing if you’re willing to accept a loss as your fault (as opposed to “OMG he’s laggin’ so bad” ect ect).

In summation, tourniments are awesome. Plus if there’s a scene in your area, it’s a great way to find players to lab with. I got 3 solid lab partners from the last event I was at, and one seriously great player from the one before that.

Good ish.

O, lol the reason why i dont play my tournaments, is cuz they’re all empire arcadia tournaments around me. That means I need to pay 20 dollars to play, and with a name like empire arcadia, i have no confidence to go into that thing. Im trying to look for some lower level play tournaments, in my area of new york, but have yet to find any

yeah, instead of playing against the absolute best in America in person, it’d be better to not play them at all and to instead play laggy online matches vs flowchart kens, while you wait for a low level tournament.

Hey now. I just want to keep my money. This is all a ploy to get bigger prizes for the winners… hahaha

More power to you, no reason to waste $20 and get eliminated the first game, then again in the first fight in the loser’s bracket.

Turn that $20 into quarters and spend like 2 hours losing(and learning) mid-day against a small crowd.

My first tournament I wasnt supposed to enter, I was just going with my brother but it was a bad turnout so I played and didnt do too horrible. Overall it was a fun experience.

Tournaments aren’t all about placing high… It’s also about learning and meeting people from the scene around your local area.

My first tourny was a couple weeks ago at the house of cicada tournament in socal and even though i knew i wasn’t going to beat alex valle, it was cool to see/meet the pros. Plus having top players means top 8 is gonna be hype

I’m very happy that I decided to go to tourneys regularly after SF4 came out. It was tough the first few times getting a handle on my nerves but it gets way better over time. It really pushes you to become a better player, not to mention the comradery that comes from getting to know players and the scene. I used to worry about getting scrubbed out but don’t really care about that more. I would like to be a little more consistent in my placings though!

I know someone who I believe has a lot of potential, she is a pretty decent Honda player, and surprisingly good at nailing the technical stuff like piano HHS xx Super and stuff, but she has always been scared to enter tourneys. Maybe it has to do with being a girl in a male-dominated scene, but she is selling her self short. She has expressed interest in entering tourneys, she loves going to watch them; but when it comes down to it I think she is just afraid of scrubbing out in public. I wish I could convince her that nobody really does that well in their first few tourneys, that just the experience of going to a tourney will improve her game tremendously. She seems fairly happy just sticking to online play, but with the potential she has, it’s a shame. If anything it’d be nice to see another Honda being used!

Seriously are their any tournies in Delaware?
