The FINAL FANTASY XIV™ Thread: SRKGD's Goin' Balls Deep #Kreygasm

Good shit, me im down, Im a mmo noob but shit i can listen and learn. shit right now im just trying to gear up a bit, and get my relic. I know having better gear will get me to my #1 goal which is my relic weapon lol.

so i have no problem helping with runs etc cause i think running with you guys will be 1 thousand times better than some of the cooking crews i ran with.

Well, to be honest, I’ve been just running nightly dungeons with Arora and Raeal. We have pretty much got our habits down pat, main thing I’m looking forward to are end game shit, with people who know and can teach us how to play the way we should.
Goal is still to hit 50 ASAP.

How should I distribute leveling? I don’t care too much about bumrushing to 50, but from what I’ve seen from my friends playing the game, you don’t want to grab all the quests in a rush to 50 since you’ll want those other quests for your other classes. Also saw professions are wack for leveling and there are classes that share spells with other classes etc.

oh man the tryhard beta colors come out

all casuals soon to be kicked from FC YOU JUST WAIT

also rockb has your crakka ass been playing this damn game yet

I’m down for runs but I got to get these other abilities and such.

That’s like the most time consuming thing.

I said the same thing a few pages back. MMO players don’t play MMOs for years anymore, it’s exhaust the content ASAP then move onto the next game.

14 isn’t without its flaws though, and in some ways it reminds me of Diablo 3. The game is fun… until you hit max level. Then everything homogenizes into the same builds and party setup. The linear progression and lack of skill trees don’t help either and makes end game completely gear dependent outside of who can hit their damage rotations faster (which unsurprisingly, is also the same). Another thing this shares with D3 is how much of a grind end game is with how often you repeat the same dungeons and how terrible the RNG is. How often have you heard stories of people doing the HM fights dozens of times and never seeing their weapon drop?

On another note, nothing to do with you but I hate how that word “elitism” is always used in conjunction with MMOs. Guys like Adrian Peterson and LeBron James are elite. There ain’t nothing elite about people who play computer games for 8 hrs a day.

Oh thank god, finally killed Titan HM today. I literally was grinding away at him with the same party for 4 hours straight yesterday, getting down to 2% at one point when people got hit by bombs because they weren’t paying close enough attention. I hate that guy. I’m a Monk, and I do imagine it’s hard for a tank considering most parties will only want 1 tank, 2 healer, 5 DPS. Just keep at it though… or buy your way through!

Just surpassed two mil too! Yay. But now comes more tome grinding. I need 700 more for relic weapon ugh. I still only have half a Darklight set as well. Considering asking my FC’s crafter (who is 50 in every craft lol) about the HQ i70 stuff, but it costs so much money to buy the mats (that cost 125 tomes, or around 30-35k gil on my server). If housing wasn’t just for FC in 2.1 I’d save for sure but now I dunno… if I can’t get my own personal mansion I dunno if I wanna save for a long time. Problem is all that i70 gryphonskin gear even with full materia will get replaced by Binding Coil of Bahamut gear so it’s probably not wise to drop a mil or more to deck myself out.

I could also say there’s nothing elite about a guy throwing a rubber ball through a hoop, different strokes I guess.

And the end game of ff14 is no different than the end game of every other mmo to ever exist. You run the same instances till you can do them in your sleep for gear, then you do it again when another comes out. The thrill is in coordinating a large group of people in taking down difficult content and collecting loots. This is the end game for all mmo’s and will be till the end of time. The only difference with FF14 is that there’s no pvp to break up that cycle. Raiding wasn’t all that bad when you could grab some friends and go gank people during the day, or use those coordination skills to do pvp battlegrounds with a stack of guild mates when you didn’t feel like running instances.

Also, games like WoW have wised up a very large percentage of mmo players. Everyone’s done this end game song and dance many times before in different mmo’s, so I can honestly understand why people would want to cut as much time as possible out of there runs by asking for people with Relic weapons. I know when i do my AK for the day and there’s some scumbag with a lv 49 weapon in the group I want to blow my brains out cause I know it’s gonna be a 40+ minute run for 40 freakin myths. I say dont hate the player, hate the game.

It does suck that there are no skill trees though, probably my most disliked part of the game. Anyways, 2.1 looks to be adding a ton of content, more than I thought they were going to. And I honestly can’t wait to try the pvp. Even if it sucks I’ll still do it cause the pvp gear looks sick. I just hope warriors get the massive buffs they deserve. Don’t dissapoint me yoshi.

I think you just solved the mystery of why everyone is rushing end game content. Why continuously pay $12.99/month for a game you already bought when you can get the same experience in every other MMO in existence, with most of them being free. PvP will suck, people said the same thing for Diablo 3 and how PvP would save the game from the shitty grind and loot system. But hey, 2.1 is coming out… in December. At least all the people shouting they want party members with relics for AK will be long gone by then.

And it isn’t about throwing a rubber ball through a hoop or however you want to trivialize sports. It’s about how when you’re “elite” you should look like this vs looking like this.

But the guy in the second picture could be a certified genius who cured cancer or created the next iphone or something. I’d call him elite over some dime a dozen dude with muscles. Not sure what looks have to do with being elite.

And people will keep paying for this game because it’s final fantasy. The bleeding edge guilds running turn 5 BC already aren’t the people who keep mmo’s in business anyways. They are the 1%, square doesn’t care about them. The People want to see Cid and have Lightning and Snow costumes and Kill Doom Train and Ruby weapon 7 updates from now, those are the people square is gonna pander to. Doom train is gonna race through all the zones and hit everyone with all status effects and will be a week long fate battle were you have to eventually make him drive off a cliff. People are gonna hang around for that.

And I have no clue why you keep going back to Diablo 3. The fact that you even played that game enough to talk about it like you are invalidates all your opinions.

I bet you that #2 outclasses #1 in tactics and reflexes though.

Guy in 2nd picture styles on people with 50 hit Seth combos. It’s actually more entertaining to watch than seeing guy #1 break out 50 yd TD catches tbh.

It’s cool bro, you don’t have to defend the game. I bring up D3 because I also got bored of that game one month after release. 14 only cost $25 so I got my money’s worth.

Why does this game hate me. Coral 1k each on Friday night. Then people undercut the next day around 950-900 when the original price was 800, ok whatever. So I go out of my way to advance the story so I can make money during the week between school and work, and at some point yesterday the price dipped down to 350. Really…what the fuck. Except I only find out about this after I fish up 220-240 NQ and 60-70 HQ in 4-5 hours. They are lucky people remain anonymous with retainers or I would be cussing out the person who crashed the price like that. The dumb part is the earrings made with coral sell for 4500 each so crafters make even a bigger profit now.

Anyway, what crafts is everyone leveling cause I feel like we have 2 high level goldsmiths in addition to me trying to level it.

Thanks for the shinfo i’ll buy up some of that coral:)

Finally saw someone from the SRK FC at a FATE near Camp Tranquil today. Didn’t think you guys really existed.

Up to level 34 on my WHM, and almost about to unlock Brayflox’s Longstop. I’m so behind on the main quest line, and I’m not even grinding anything. It’s all that rested Exp.

Anyone else having an issue with there being no action bar for your chocobo when it’s helping you fight? I’ve got mine up to rank 2, but it has no action bar, so I can’t really tell it to do anything. It just attacks whatever mob I’m attacking. I thought that something was wrong with my pet bar, but when I switch to arcanist it works just fine.

I dunno, I’m enjoying Reborn.
Is that a bad thing?

You may want to just set it up on your hotbar…
Press C on keyboard, click on chocobo icon above your "armor list"
Click on skills you want to have on hotbar.

i uploaded this beastly track after finding the soundtrack

I think I tried doing that, but I could only add the stances to the action bar, not special abilities that you spend SP points on. I’ll try again the next time I play though.

Watch in HD 720p to see it in full detail:
