They fucked up open beta too. Tens of thousands of players couldn’t play and considering SE said open beta was supposed to be a demo for people to try out the game they probably lost a lot of potential customers. Fast forward one week and they’re fucking up early access (and will probably fuck up official launch) too so there goes even more revenue, either from people demanding refunds or who may have but now aren’t gonna pay the sub fee after the first free month ends due to this experience. All SE has given people thus far are a bunch of copy pasted “Please understand” and “We are deeply sorry for this inconvenience” messages. What I’d like to know do they have a response when people write back with Dear SE, you aren’t getting my money, please understand.
People are giving him the whole first world problems routine in chat. Valid I suppose, it does make me wonder if an online game will ever manage a smooth launch. Guild Wars 2, Diablo 3, Sim City they all had shit on this scale if not worse.
Yea now I’m startin to get a little cranky. My mother dun damn played all day. Every time i go out there shes like “you wanna play?” So we try and stupid servers full or completely down. She goes back to playin.
Maybe my memories tainted by the one time event weekends rather than the actual launch. The one with the Karka was especially horrible.
I haven’t had any more hard crashes, deleting the files in My Documents seemed to fix it, had to reassign hotbars and gearsets. Already got too much junk in my inventory.
Aside from the trading post not being up for the first few days GW2’s problems was lag due to everyone starting out in the low level zones although moving to higher level zone areas would fix that. You got the usual server queues (which was short), disconnections and people couldn’t play with their friends because they were put on the overflow server but here’s key thing, at least people could still play GW2.
14 slaps you with a 1017/90000 errors, group list failed to load, doesn’t tell you if logins are even open, a lack of transparency with what they are doing during maintenance and if you get disconnected good luck logging back in. Speaking of which, for a game that borrows a lot of gameplay ideas from modern day MMOs they failed to include one of the most important things. Booting idle players after a period of inactivity. We got people logging in then going to sleep as they leave the game on for 8 hours. This prevents everyone else who actually want to play the game from connecting.
If we all weren’t so far with our characters, I would have had us move to Alexander.
It’s so chill and QUIET here. No asshats shouting for people to join their shells/FCs. Actually, no shouts, PERIOD. And there’s like no one in this server, so there’s no insane competition for mobs. So good.
