Some new images of FF13-2 have popped up, sadly it would seem the gameplay is the same from FF13, though I really hope they’ve improved the AI (USE ESUNA BEFORE HEALING ME, ODINDAMNIT!)

Also please don’t nerf Death, the way they made it in FF13 was great and I hope they utilize its concept in future FFs.
Nothing really, I’m just worrying that if they do include Death in this game they might change some of its properties (like maybe oh it doesn’t do big damage instead of KO)
I liked the battle system in 13. At least it didn’t bore me to death like the old ones. Ai is stupid, but that why they gave you 6 paradigm slots. Death wasn’t necessary in 13 anyways. It was just for lazy people who didn’t want to figure out the right way of doing shit. The only thing bull shit about death was Vanille’s death trick on Long Gui doing 999,999.
I didn’t have glaring problems with the AI other than when they were Medics. Rest of the time they seemed quite competent, especially compared to AI partners in other titles.
They could be annoying as Synergists too, wherein they wouldn’t cast Shell and Protect together. If you could assign the order of which buffs or debuffs to cast for each role, that’d be great.
What if they applied a tweeked version of the Gambit System or the Priority System (From KH) to the A.I.s so you can sort of program their behavior, per Paradigm. I never had a problem with getting Goofy and Donald to do what I wanted them to in KH for the most part and i personally think the gambit system is brilliant and removed a lot of the stupid repetition from the series when it came to battle.
Anyway I think XIII’s combat system is fun it just need refinement to make it into something really good while now it’s just decent. A compelling narrative (Or just a list of hunts and cool dungeons honestly) would be great in making the thing worth playing to.
Oh and revamp the Summon System please. Ground up.
The spells they cast in the game were based on what sort of paradigm you got set up and who is in what role. So it’s like “If I am doing this role in this team, this is what I’d do.”
…that said, it’s hard to keep track, and Gambits would’ve been more awesome.
IMO the only thing they need to change about FFXIII’s battle system is to get rid of the whole “game over if leader dies” BS. If they do that, it’ll be perfect. But even if not, I had plenty of fun with XIII and am looking forward to more in XIII-2.
…but if they do that, chances are you may never lose a battle or get a game over.
Let’s say your leader dies, but is revived with a Phoenix down or with a medic, this prevents you from losing a battle, aside from maybe all your characters getting KOed.
On the other hand though, they could just change how battles could be lost @3@
