Perhaps the same could be said of all game bosses…

Yea but normally you actually have to input commands and shit to kill them… With the gambit system you set up your gambits, go make a goddamn sammich, and come back 2 hours later and the fucker is dead.

As opposed to inputting the same commands over and over again?

That was the whole point of the gambit system, to get rid of redundant commands.

I liked it. I don’t want to be doing Attack>Heal>Attack>Heal manually all day. Better save my commands for specific mometns in battle (interrupting attacks, baiting, casting buffs exactly when needed, etc)

EDIT: I also find it strange that you find FFXII so easy. Finding it easy is one thing, but easier than most other FFs? I’m not seeing that one. Maybe you overlevelled?

Man I must’ve killed about 3 hours browsing through that FF Wiki.

I found the Espers to be a fascinating read.

same here, maybe its just been years since i played it but when that boss popped up it was like getting mugged when you turn the corner into a dark alley. dude came completely outta nowhere and i couldn’t understand why i was fighting him other than “gimme watcha got or ill stick yazz”

There were some references to Necky in Disc 3, when Garland does his dozens of monologues.

But overall, I don’t think it added anything in particular to the game.

I agree, to be truthful, I could’ve used a “Gambit Like system” when playing VIII and abusing Zell’s Limit Break to dish out 500k+ on each turn against Omega. However, I myself though have a tendency to over level my characters, it is a tradition for me, because I like to go in and destroy my opponents, not make it “even” or hard.

Anyhow, in XII, I accidently overleveled at one part, and that was at the scene to which you got out of the cave and you were supposed to get the chocobo and cross that one path. However, remember, at that one part, you could go down into that one cave and fight those mobs that were ridiculous hard. I’ll be a noob right here and say it out…I seriously thought you had to go there because I didn’t see the chocobo tracks, and was like “WTF, these guys are ridiculous, did Square make these guys this hard on purpose?!”

So I plvled there for hours, and like a few days, until I was finally able to fight down there consistently. Then all of a sudden, I find out that I was “supposed” to get the chocobo…:amazed:. Oh well, I was like lvl 40+ by then, so it made it a complete breeze for a long while to come, however wow, did I make a mistake, rofl. Almost as bad as when I first played Chrono Trigger for the first time, and got confused with the whole plot leading up to Magus, and I was stuck, so I just simply lvled…then finally when facing Magus, I was like lvl 40 with Luminare and everything…which made my first fight with him well, anti-climatic, sigh (sometimes I just sat there to listen to his epic music piece).

As for IX, it was a great FF game, in my top 3 of all time, and very underrated in my opinion due to how it’s viewed by most “general” players of the FF series. However that Necron thing was in my mind, mute and I understand what he’s supposed to symbolize, however to just simply pop up 99.9% through the game…wow. Should’ve stayed at Kuja and ended with Kuja, however IX’s ending is still one of the best FF game endings of all time. I simply loved the build up + music leading to Zidane’s epic entrance to Garnet’s surprise, now that’s an epic win for your woman right there.

This is probably the case :stuck_out_tongue: I guess grinding was just a little easier when you don’t have to actually pay attention and/or input commands. Oh well - I still played through it, and enjoyed it… Just not as much as the others.

ALso, sorry im late to this bandwagon… I see that FFVII is now downloadable on the PSN. Is this updated graphics or anything? or just the exact old school PS1 game with no updates whatsoever?

Damn dude I went into the same fuckin cave and was pissed thinkin i had to figure how to get passed all those strong ass beasts an shit. totally didn’t see the Chocobo tracks.

^ As far as I know, FFVII on PSN is just the same old game again.

EDIT: Yeah, that part of FFXII was badly designed. I didn’t see the tracks for a while too.

FFVII on PSN is the same, played some on my PSP the other day. You even have to select a ‘Swap Disc’ option in the menu at the appropriate times in the game.

FFXII was easy because they pretty much made grind spots for you.
You can grind to your upper 30’s in Lhusu mines.

Second bridge with all the Skeleton Warriors and Defenders you can fight a good 40+ on the bridge and they give you about 110xp each (even with Lamont who heals you with free hi-potions the entire time). Go back 2 screens, do it again.

Why grind in the first place?

Why not?

I’m just trying to get to the root of the problem.

You say the game is easy because they left you grinding spots.

So if you’re saynig it’s a good thing the game is easy, then that’s that.

If the game is too easy, well, then, why are you grinding to make it easier on yourself?

Unless you like easy games of course, or compelled with N1 syndrome.

how much space does FFVII take up on your PSP?

I loved FFXII for the fact they left you grind spots yeah. But I loved the setting of the game and all the characters too. I thought the license board was kind of lame…but it worked for the style of game it was.

FFXII is actually one of my favorite games of the series.

Not sure why people get upset at the Gambit system. It was brilliant. It actually gave you the choice of how you want to play the game. Sure you could set them up to play the game for you, but why the hell would you do that? If so, it’s no ones fault but your own for setting them up. Putting the battle system on active, without gambits active, the game could be very challenging. Hell Wyrm was one of the most fun battles I have ever had in any game (without gambits on, and active battle).

Not sure if Sony has compressed it differently, but otherwise, it looks to be around 1.6 gig.

I enjoyed FFXII so much, that I enjoyed grinding. I didn’t even think of it as grinding, I just wanted to go out and start shit with some monsters. All 6 characters were at level 90+ by end game.

Damn, I love that game.

Oh, I’m not trying to knock you or anything, I was just wondering why grind? It’s more or less the opposite of how I play, that’s all.

I really did like the setting, characters, conversations, though it needed more cutscenes, if onyl to give you a slight reprieve from traversing huge overworlds.
