lolololol that reminds me of this failure of a whm on my server called Gandalfthewhite. He was the butt of 90% of jokes in that server.He had a bad rep among endgamers, newbies, casual players… just about everyone lol. Horrible whm who thought he was the shit.
Bst/whm will always be solo king. Mad boring, though. I took bst to 16 and couldn’t do it anymore.
Oh yeah… just remembered Valkurm Dunes… LOL. Every ffxi’ers favorite zone.

lol, it doesn’t get any better than running traiss, especially if its nit on purpose. One sec you’re resting… then you see a taru run by. Then you see the ground shake…5-10 secs later you see an army of random mobs hauling ass after the little fucker. then you turn the camera to watch hahaha. the you miss the stray aggro the got left behind and get whacked. That’s it, dead, you lose, return to HP and try again cuz there are no whms in the zone that are lvl25 to raise you. Bam, minus 10% exp just like that lol. Good thing they patched exp loss to 8%. 10% was insanely cruel.

I remember when Kirin was the end-all, be-all boss and was near unbeatable.
Now he’s mad free… even without a full alliance.
Speaking of bosses, I remember when the mission 2-3 black dragon bcnm boss was hard as fuck for me. I went back several years later to do it with a friend and I more or less solo’d the fight as a BLU while he chilled. I was mad hyped about beasting on him and his eyeball friend.
The stoylines for the job classes were very well done. I thought the BLU storyline was just too pimp. The COR storyline was sweet as well. They were beefing with the BLUs, I remember. I might go and watch some cutscenes on youtube to jog my memory.

I always wanted to play FFXI but my PC was shit back then, and when I finally got a decent one my friends were all on WoW. I think I’m gonna try XIV when it comes out and since I have more time I can save to get a decent pc/laptop right before it drops
As long as FFXIV is cross platform-able, I will be playing on my PS3. :D.
that’s what I’m worried about, but yeah if it’s cross platform then fuck getting a new laptop. I’m getting ready to slap a new HD in my PS3 anyway so expansions don’t worry me haha

I played FFXI on PS2… I’ll be playing FFXIV on PS3. Just patiently waiting for the beta sign ups for PS3. No reason why it wouldn’t be crossplatform… ffxi was. ps2, pc, and 360 players all played on the same servers.
lol @ WoW. I might post up some ToAU stuff in here in a bit. Having Alexander as the final boss was too good. His design was pretty rad, as was Odin’s. Actually, all the avatars/summons/aeons/eidolons in this game had pretty cool designs. I was hyped when they brought Diablos back. I thought he wasn’t ever coming back as a summon in another FF. Pretty crazy that he’s the ruler of the world of dreams… wasn’t he also the creator of Dynamis? That’s fucking crazy if he way. I used to be mad salty about Bahamut not being summonable, but with his role in the CoP storyline, it’s to be expected. I never did the Bahamut fights, though. I think the requirements were that you had to have finished CoP, RoZ, and that special fight/bcnm…Apocalypse Nigh I think it was called. You need a top tier group to do all that.
see seeing/hearing people talk like this is why I played WoW. It’s why I wanted to play everquest waaay back when I worked at Software Etc. and all my friends were playing it, it just sounds so interesting and fun. I’m looking forward XIV. How was it playing on PS2 btw? I assumed you used a keyboard and mouse so it was the same, yeah?

It was a blast on PS2. I had a keyboard, but no mouse. I used the PS2 controller, which was gdlk. I could chill on my bed and play instead of sitting up in front of the screen. It was very nice. And the way the buttons were mapped was perfect. Felt as comfortable as a mouse/keyboard, if not more so. I’m gonna get a wireless keyboard for my PS3 when ffxiv drops so I can up the chill factor haha

ninja edit: Was I the only on who didn’t know that the Magus Sisters were in ffxi until Dissidia came out? That was some slick shit Square pulled haha
(sigh) ff11. loved that game so much i was a sam with all sj 37. best mmorpg i ever played and really had fun ith it. and sam/dnc was godlike.cant wait to ff14 to come out. damn memories ff11 brings out

Sam/Dnc was too good. TP gain was freakin ridiculous. FFXI really was too good. Only reason WoW took over was because it was easy mode. It took like no time to get far. People didn’t wanna put in the work. Instant grats and all that. FFXI took a bit more time and learning to get good, but it was all good. Gave you more time to travel and see the world and learn all types of random interesting shit about the characters, the world, and the game itself. I used to love partying at Qufim and Yuhtunga/Yhoator Jungle.
Screw Garlaige Citadel and Crawlers Nest. Hated the shit out of those places. Aht Uhrgan areas were the best, though. Valkurm, even though it was hell, is a favorite, just because of all the good memories from partying there. Didn’t like Boyahda Tree that much, although it’s unparelled in terms of finding mobs to skill up off of. I’m forgetting some of the other level up spots… it’s been too long lol
