None of them are. You have to keep a healthy balance and switch between the ones you need. Also, the custom made Optima are better than the default ones. They’re alright, but there’s more situations that the default ones don’t cover.

Today I beat FF1. Final boss was defeated by my red mage’s attack of 16 points. 16 points. I laughed HARD. :rofl: And now onto FF2.

getting ready to wrap up ff9. it’s been a fun ride. i’m finishing up the chocobo hot and cold sidequest so i can reach ozma. then it’s on to finishing memoria. god, how i hate digging for chocograph pieces. what a waste of time. my main party is zidane (fixed), quina, amarant, and steiner. like you guys said, quina’s too damn good. great support blue spells from mighty guard, angel’s snack, white wind, and bad breath. along with great damage from frog drop. i didn’t find the frog catching shennanigans to be much of a problem. as soon as each qu’s marsh was available i would catch all frogs (except 1 female and 1 male), then continue the story a bit then go back to the marshes when i had boat/airship available again. rinse and repeat. i wish i could switch zidane out so i can replay with all four of the other characters i missed.

my thoughts on ff10: what a terrible game. i stopped near the end so i could start playing ff9. the linearity wasn’t the problem since i don’t mind linearity as long as the story and gameplay are good, which in ff10 is not bad. what sucked was the lack of abilities/skills, weapons/items, and customization. i was literally using the same shitty weapon and accessory for 90% of the game which was apparently good enough to take on all the monsters anyway. the concept of customizing weapons and accessories was nice but the lack of slots and the lack of items to create the effects you wanted is what killed it.

I thought 10 had more customizing and skills than I needed. Remember you could make weapons with customized skills but I only used what I needed and nothing else.

Man, I need to hit up my old FF10 save file… I was in the process of wiping out all stat spheres that weren’t +4 from the sphere grid, farming +4 spheres from monster arena mobs, then replacing them erased slots with the +4 spheres. All 255 stats, 99999HP, and 9999MP. Sick!

Next time I play FF9 and FF12, I’m gonna do a level 1 run. Play and complete the entire game 100% (well, not f9. 99.9% complete on that because I won’t reach Excalibur II on time) with a level 1 party. Should be pretty fun. I’ll probably hate doing it in ff12 because I have to some hardcore farming at the beginning to get money for equipment. I can probably low-level run ff8 as well. Dunno about 7 and below, though.

Was talking to my boy about ff11 and realized how much I missed that game. It was too beast. Storyline was way too good for an MMO. My 75 Blue Mage/Ninja was too pimo… Had some of the Homam Gear, Swift Belt, Beast Slayer, the str+dex ring you get for beating COP expansion, etc… I had a ton of pimp gear for my BLU that I don’t even remember the name of. Had a sick TP build, crazy +str build for when I had to throw out a blu spell for damage, or when I subbed thf (For those of you that played this game… a well equipped BLU + sneak attack + Disseverment… you know what I’m talking about). Did a lot of sky/sea/assault runs with my linkshell/guild and got a ton of beautiful shit for my BLU. Finished up to Mission 6 in the main storyline, finished all missions except the final boss of Rise of the Zilart, finished all of Chains of Promathia (gdlk. the omega weapon fight in that airship invasion/battle was too epic), finished most of Treasures of Aht Uhrgan (sick storyline), and went as far as I could in Wings of the Goddess before we had to wait for the patch to finish the rest of the story.

FF11’s storyline is better than a lot of the other games in the series, imho. Lots of people just don’t know because they missed out/slept on it because it was an MMO.

This game was soo much fun, holy shit. I almost want to reactivate my subscription and hop back into the swing of things. I quit because FF14 is coming out. That game will be beast.

Which of you peeps played FFXI (long enough to make good discussion)?

Hoping some of yall who skipped out on FF11 will jump on FF14 when it drops. We can have an srk group and do shit together. It’ll be mad fun.

i also played ffxi way too much. hunted so many kraken clubs from lord of onzozo pre-BCNM nerf. spent so many hours staying awake for that shitty spawn, but our small group dominated that NM for the longest time. RMT ruined that game imo. my biggest joy from play ffxi was HNM hunting in small groups. sure you can get a huge party or alliance to take on some NMs, but i liked the challenge of hunting NMs/HNMs like Capricious Cassie or Behemoth solo or with 1 other. i’ll probably play ff14 as well. hopefully i’ll be almost done with school since ffxi is what probably made me drop out the first time. the nostalgia for that game… my god… so many fond memories…

I actually started playing FFXI again because some friends of mine decided to start playing it again. Right now I’m working on getting my THF to 75 before FF14 comes out, because sadly we all know FF11 is going to die the moment it comes out.

Anyhow, FF11 is a great game, the storylines through the various nations and expansions are actually very nice, not to mention the individual stories for each job (Dragon Knight anyone?) which add so much to the game. I’ve met a lot of cool people on the game and I’ll still be playing it up until the release of FF14.

It’s alot better than the original version for sure, you get a colosseum mode that gives you these awesome tournaments with some pretty hard enemies to fight and you also get to capture monsters and use them in your team if you ever get bored of using yuna/rikku/paine.
Having a tonberry on your team is badass aint gonna lie. New dresspheres are fun too.

I agree that RMTs ruined FFXI. They were fuckin up. My only real complaint about ff11 was that it was hard as fuck to make money in the beginning. You had to spent a ton of money to make money, so when you started out with like 100 or 200 gil, and the cheapst helmet was like 500-1000, and you didn’t get gil from killing regular mobs, and the only mobs that gave gil in the area (Beastmen) only gave like 12 to 64 gil per kill, you knew you were fucked lol.

Some of the funniest moments involved some idiot running a train to the zone, where people were resting and shit, then the mob would kill everyone at the zone line. Insane MPK shenanigans. The amount of hate and rage that people had for the guy who ran the train could kill you hahahaha. This was before the patch that despawned a mob once their target zoned. A long time ago.

Anyone ever got sent to jail? I’ve never been “arrested” by a GM before… always wondered what it was like lol
