The Fight Night Round 4 Thread

yah… haha i love it, always full 10 rounds, i stopped trying to get dizzys and kos, now i just play to hurt over rounds…but its still difficult. Seems like your stamina and health bar goes down much faster from your opponents

Button mashing fuckers ruin the online game.

Counter them hard… They’re going to keep on doing it as long as you keep letting them do so. Few big shots to the dome due to their wrecklessness and most will start trying to play a bit smarter, not all, but most.

If you just space them out and pick your shots wisely, they’re going to end up worn out pretty quickly. If they INSIST on tryin to continue to play the “never stop swinging” game, each counter opportunity hit the gut instead of the head, it takes MASSIVE chunks out of their stamina bar. At this point they have two options, run away to regain stamina, or stay in close for you to kill them, as hits do FAR more damage when they hit a boxer who doesn’t have any stamina left, or so it seems.

So far I’m 19 and 1, with that one loss being due to my power flickering.

in legacy i belive i’m 40- 4, i’m still in the “contender” stage tho, i am playing on the default dificulity as it didnt ask me to change anything. Anyone know if thats Hard or medium or what?

I’m talking about online…Not the legacy mode. I’ve barely touched the single player.

Damn, I didn’t realise this was already out in USA/Europe, I have to wait until next Thursday for the Australian release.

Sounds like online is a bit hit and miss, but still sounds better than FNR3 at least. The single player sounds far better than FNR3’s though.

Not that much better.

If you hate counters stop being overagressive ^^
You’re not supposed to try to KO the opponent in the first rounds, unless you’re far better than him.

yes…unless you’re far better than him.

BTW Left, Right Hooks >>>

In re: to Legacy mode, I tried fighting every month and eventually got owned when I hit the top 20, the other boxers were way too good.

Going to create a new Legacy boxer and fight maybe 3-4 times a year just to get in the extra training sessions. And deal with the online WC mode.

Guy got so mad, he had to send me a voice msg calling me an American reject and other shit.

Just popping in here to say I love Fight Night Round 4 (mostly) and here are my thoughts:
LIKE:
-Shiny new graphics
-60 fps means fast decision making (or fast KOs)
-Button controls removed from game
-Height/reach matter

DISLIKE:
-Heads too big on bodies/Frankenstein forehead on custom chars.
-R2 to haymaker is too simplified (and makes a non-straight/jab counter more difficult)
-I liked blocking quadrants to parry in FNR3. Timing blocks has a narrow window in FNR4.
-Spaghetti arms sometimes get wrapped around necks and wig out.
-Slight advantage to the inside game.

Review: even more fun than FNR3!

I don’t flail. It just seems the AI has the “rubber-band” thing going when they get behind their counter ability goes up. I also really hate how big the counter window is when you get countered. It’s like two seconds! Ridiculous!

Anyone got any dece vids of people actually boxing in this game and not just getting inside and mashing the stick? Anyone got any tips for beating people who do this as well? It’s like the Balrog jab lockdown all over again ^^;

Legacy mode, im in top 20 now as well- still contender tho. Yah i’m getting my ass whopped, its frustrating. I lead and all of suddend he AI leads…wtf?

You can still block during those 2 seconds if they don’t use a fast enough punch, it’s just theres a second or two after you can react that the game still counts it a as a counter.

Only sometimes. Most of the time I just wiff super hard (and I’m not throwing haymakers) and just float there while I’m trying to get my guard up. I’m also hating how absolutely useless the “Lean” is. I think I dodge like 5% of my opponents punches with it now.

Also the AI never seems to bite on my weaves >:|

I sound like I suck at FN but I’ve been playing this shit since Knockout Kings on the PS1

Is there any way to throw a feint? I don’t think there is

lol I have no idea what I’m doing in this, don’t think I’ve beat a random or the computer yet

The trick to weaves is to buffer them into your combos, you can buffer a weave during a punch so it comes out right after. I’ll throw a jab, body hook, weave, uppercut as a BnB combo.

Lean works, but you have to time it perfectly. It’s punch accuracy that’s gone up, as punches all track now. Personally I use weaves with dash steps to avoid punches.

are there any guides or lists of bnbs? I know there are combos in the bag training mode but are these written down anywhere on the web? tht cd be helpful

what’s a dash step, dilly? fwd, fwd? the weaves (gcf on left stick) seems so sluggish as to be useless :frowning:
