If you guys are gonna hold local tournaments the same days as other local tournaments up here why not at least try to change the time? 8pm last time was good. And people could make it to both events that way.
Also maybe this is me just being a cheap-ass, but for the small turnout these events have and the lack of top players (aside from Champ & Tokido’s random appearance 2 weeks ago), exciting matches, good monitors, etc.; isn’t $15 entry kind of asking a lot? I understand the $5 venue fee can’t be avoided, but perhaps less people are attending these events because paying $15 to enter a <16 man bracket isn’t hype enough? Ever consider $5 pot + $5 venue for entry fee?
Also, have you considered investing in some Asus monitors?
the event im talkin about at a amateur level is 75…winner gets nothing
intermediate is 150 winner gets 1k
top pros (people like jwong) pay 250$ and you get 1 CHANCE 5 minutes to win/show your stuff
top pros ranking is
top 8
8th - 7th 1k
6 - 1500
5 - 2k
4th - 2500
3rd 3k
2 5 k
1st 10k
and thats FINALS
for qualification its amateur intermediate pro divisions
and its usually 30 per division that show up…
SO all in all your entering to help, to support the community, to help gaming move forward and eventually get to 1st place 20k prize money
so just pay the 15$ and remeber your helping yourself and fellow gamers
I’m pretty sure (and by pretty sure I mean 100% sure, bet-my-life-on-this-shit sure) Wong doesn’t pay $250 to enter tournaments… since Evo is the biggest open fighting game tournament in the world and entry is like ~$70 total.
Why is it that console gamers always think there is wayyyy more money being pumped into the fighting game tournament scene than there really is… 9__9
