The elusive kara palm

the dash after s.mk is sick, KO did that way back in 2000 on that ryochin ysb ko tape that was goin around(btw, what’s the name of that tape?). Only difference was the combo. He grabbed him with opponent in the corner, s.mkxxGJ, dash, palm…combo. I’ve been trying to pull that off put never have been able to get s.mk off a grab to connect. :lame:

i got a question,

when i do the st mp, then the kara palm, i only move a little bit forward when the palm comes out, whats up that?

very cool stuff. Is it possible to do the kara palm using MP and LK only? I tried doing it pyrolee’s way but it would be very hard to do during a match. I also recorded a short video of me attempting the kara palm (imbaressing but who cares).

BTW i know i had infinite meter, but codebreaker makes for capcom’s crappy 3s training mode. CvS had infinite A groove…

Things to work on: Activating GJ. :tup:

you should always use the MP to kara palm. All 3 punches give you the same palm, but if you mess it up, you will not get a whiffed throw and you will juggle them with your standing MP.

Kara palm is easy, but never worth doing because of the difficulty.
I can karapalm at 80-90% and even still it’s not worth doing because you lose the chance to deal damage you could have dealt with the regular GJ combo had you missed the kara palm

i wanna kara palm somebody but the timing is fuckin nuts i can get the palm itself but it always seems to hit to slow and they already hit the ground

holy fucking shit - there were a couple AWESOME yun players at evo doing kara-palms in MATCH play like it was no fucking thang! People were all like “oooohhhhh, aaahhhhh” it was pretty cool. One of the guys went by the name TEK, (i’m a noob so i haven’t really heard of many people’s names yet)fucking awesome to see that shit. I guess some people can get this down consistantly… shrugs

I can’t wait to see the Evo matches, but recently I’ve seen on a-cho a yun player land a palm then 3 kara palms in a row flawlessly. He also had another kara palm in a combo and did part of a ground genei jin combo in another. They’re getting too good…

it’s pretty easy. neutral strong, qcb, kara jab(short~jab).
The key is to get your joystick from down position, to back position, AS FAST AS POSSIBLE. Easiest way is to keep stick at neutral when you press strong.

If you press short~jab to slow after qcb, yun will motion backwards before a palm comes out. This is because the recoil of the strong is like 2 frames(milli seconds).

here’s a better breakdown:
neutral, strong, down, downback, back+kara throw(short~jab)
the motions and buttons must come out right after each other, you have 7 frames to go from strong, all the way to back position, and then press kara throw(short~jab)

All that boils down to doing a kara palm as fast as humanly possible after a strong.

everyone here can do a kara palm…just activate then press strong first.

this took me maybe 10 hours of practice, but that was after i learned roll cancel timing.

i put ring finger on strong, pointer on short, middle on jab. this feels natural to me because of the finger lengths, plus it’s easier to do 3 buttons consecutively with 3 fingers.
c royd is right in theory though, way safer.

I find kara command throw to be harder though, and worth learning just as much as kara palm :xeye:
that’s: f, df, d, rh, db, b+short. not a lotta wiggle room in this one.

mester was kara palming people in the 5 on 5 like whoa to add something useful try practicing by doing the nitto strong,short really fast so you move fast across the screen i still don’t do em consistently but like 2 out of 10 i use strong personally cause if you fuck it up with jab you get a throw if you mess up with strong the juggle continues

after reading some of your post, i see some of you use fierce for the palm? im thinking, is fierce too far away for yoour fingers? hehe…
anyways, as for me. i tried using the method pyro uses for palms…
(it is a little easier to kara palam when starting
f+strong,quickly to qcb+lk~lp)

feirce works on everyone, i tested it. best damage to, by like 7 points. :clap:

feirce is easiest for me now. and i’ll tell you why. when you spread your fingers out that much, you can use your wrist to kara between short and feirce.
The wrist jiggle makes it really easy.

tap strong with middle, qcb, (wrist jiggle-left to right) thumb short, pinky or ring feirce.

wrist muscle is stronger than fingers so it’s kinda natural. don’t make me get out the sports medicine textbook!

there’s a difference in damage depending on what strength palm you use? I thought a palm was a palm, plain and simple…

I’ve been integrating karapalms into my play recently and I use fierce. I usually don’t land every palm but when I miss I land the fierce, so the meat of the GJ is all palms and fierces which hurts! I think characters like Elena and chun are easiest to karapalm, I can easily get a palm then 3 karapalms.

I also have been going straight from midscreen shoulders into corner and then immediately karapalm after the last shoulder, easy to do and works nice.

Second, I use Cr.Rdh to Kara-Kobukushi. I can’t do it any other way.

I said that kara palm feirce works on all characters. well it does, but it’s hard to set up.

vs. yun/yang, dudley,NOT Remy, Ibuki, and all those anoying small people, if you do a mid-screen combo starting with s.strong, f.feirce, rush punch feirce(3 hits), feirce palm…you won’t connect the maximum 4 palms, you’ll either get 2 or 3.

I think this has to do with how the character bounces, cause Remy just takes the palms like a bitch. I was trying it vs. Ibuki and a bunch of dudleys last night at TGA, and ibuki wasn’t havin that shit. Dudley was kinda 50/50.

Jab worked on ibuki and so did medium, aswell as dudley.

feirce is sketch, use strong, that’s my word.

There is no difference.
