I realized that I goofed on Sony’s date actually and fixed it. Both Microsoft and Sony will actually be doing their conferences on Monday before E3 officially kicks off and Nintendo just now confirmed that they will be doing their’s Tuesday at 9am. I think this is the first time in awhile that 2 companies are doing their conferences on Monday. It also gives Nintendo room for their conference…Neither Microsoft nor Sony will have to go after them and they can set the bar.
Electronic Arts and Ubisoft’s dates have also been placed up there. So I guess we’re waiting on Konami now.
Edit: Had to check on that and nope Sony actually moved their conference to Monday last year. I was incorrect.
I feel the same way, except for the KH series. I can’t be bothered to play a bunch of portable spinoffs when I don’t even have the slightest clue of what’s going on with KH3. Besides, seeing a bunch of shitty cosplay makes me wanna play the game even less.
Actually the only conference of the Big 3 I’m betting will be lackluster this year is Microsoft’s. Sony’s conference should more or less be pretty damn solid since they have a good chunk of exclusives. Nintendo’s is a wild card…3DS stuff I’m expecting to be great but that conference is going to be riding on Wii U.
I dunno where to put this sooo I’ll put it here. Konami and Namco/Bandai got fucked in the stock market today after a court ruling dealt a huge blow to Japan’s social gaming bubble. You might have heard that some notable SquareEnix staff quit and joined the top mobile game companies (DeNA and GREE) because it’s been a booming business for the past couple years. Traditional game companies (Konami, Namco) receive greater profit from social games than the games they make for console/traditional handheld. The ruling over the weekend is going to mean huge cuts in revenue (which is perfectly fine and just, from an ethical standpoint).
I’m confident the last Guardian will pull through, Versus 13 is a maybe. I am hoping E3 surprises me because it looks like a dull show this year. This is kind of what happens on the verge of a new generation. Probably good for my wallet though cause I already have my eye on 4 titles for this year.
