No one is saying that Trump is protected from criticism, surely a scan of the news, Twitter, etc would show that certainly isn’t the case. If members of his fanbase try that shit, they should be arrested and prosecuted like they are right now. You act like people just let this happen and Whitmer is tied to a chair in parts unknown right now.
If Gretchen Whitmer doesn’t want that kind of attention, then she should resign her position and let someone who can handle the pressure take it. I don’t like Reagan for the most part, but that motherfucker got SHOT and proceeded to give a speech. Don’t tell me someone with a full security detail can’t handle nutjobs with goofy plots when she has the power of the entire state of michigan to keep herself safe.

You can’t yell “fire” in a crowded theater and expect to get off scott free if people get hurt. But let’s forget legality for a moment- if someone figured out a perfectly legal thing to say that would get you and maybe your family killed, do you think it’s a responsible thing for them to go out and shout it at rallies? You think that’s the kind the kind of behavior people should want in the highest office?
And what’s with the “well we could probably find a law she broke” shit to justify it?

He isn’t doing that though, or well, he is, only in the opinion of people who want to believe he is.
And I have a much bigger problem with presidents signing orders that mean hundreds of thousands of people are going to die in a country we happen to be bombing this week then I do them saying things that make people uncomfortable.
I think we’re going to find out that a lot of actions governors have taken during Covid are unconstitutional.

Dude, the people who believe he’s saying that include the people arming up a going out there to try and make it happen. And it’s not like it’s a “whoops my bad” on his part because he’s right back out there immediately doing the same thing.

I don’t care what plots was attempted against her, those types of plots are foiled a few times a month by the FBI.
