When Nanto (Phoenix) falls into disarray, Hokuto (Dormammu) appears.

I think we are going to see more Phoenixes as anti-Phoenix teams.

The MvC3 tourney at EVO 2011 will now be known as “We Can’t Control It! Phoenixes Gone Wild!”

I added a section on his reset options as per someone’s request on GFAQs.

Haven’t tested it yet but if you chaotic flame from a good bit away and then see them do bionic arm, is it possible to DHC to an activation super and just block? That’d get you a free punish unless the spencer DHCs or x factors.

Question: What are some good setups involving Dorm’s teleports? I know calling Magneto beam to immediate teleport (switching M and H for the mixup) is strong, but I dont think I’m doing the optimal transition to ground combo to launch when it hits, and don’t capitalize. Annoying.

And then I was thinking maybe that setup could work with Doom beam or Task arrows (in particular Task). But the arrows seem a tad slower and less reliable. Am I wrong on that? I really really want to play a rushdown heavy, teleport-oriented Dorm team, but every time I try to play Dorm I suck. I’m sure it’s me, and not dormammu, but I’m looking for some fun toys to play with to get something effective working. The current thought is Dorm Wesker Taskmaster, though if you guys respond saying Magneto beam is the ultimate Dorm teleport setup assist, I would switch him in for Task.

It depends on your timing, but this is why having Wesker behind Dormammu is a good idea - you can always DHC to Rhino Charge.

What sort of optimization are you speaking of? I’m not entirely following you, but I generally just do j.H, c.L, c.M, s.S.

They are slower and less reliable for teleport cross-ups, but they have benefits, too.

I think the beam options are primarily personal preference on who you want on the team, and how comfortable you are with various levels of damage scaling. MastaCJ, whom I have a video of in the main posts, uses Magneto. A good number of people use Doom. Almost no one uses MODOK/Iron Man, but that’s just because no one wants to use those characters.

I had been using jM after the M teleport to make sure I reach. Maybe that’s the problem?

I’d much rather play Taskmaster, the character, but I’d rather play Magneto the beam, I guess. I’ve known a long time that Mag beam + Dorm crossup is really sick, and it’s exactly the sort of style I’d want to play (and Ive def watched CJ!). i just happen to be much better w/ task than Mag (especially if in an anchor position).

Also, I’d like to play cake backed with eat it too assist.

I personally feel that going with who you can actually play trumps any partial beniftis of have a character strictly for an assist. For Example I like Iron MAn but I pretty much suck with him and dont have the patience at the moment to really sit down and put the effort/time into learning him but on the other hand I like doom and have a much better understanding of how to use him and and I am overall better with him(not great or anything just much better than me playing Iron Man), so he is on my team. So basically what im saying is if you willing to take some time out and really learn magneto then add him to your team. On the other hand if you just want the assist, stick to task because mag is going to become dead weight while task will be an overall benifit to your team. (you could aslo look at the pros and cons…health, damge, team stability, etc. to help make your decision)

Oh and you can still perform the cross up with dorm and Task like you would with mag, just let the arrows hit first (After you Tp) and try using Heavy instead of j.m. H tends to knock ppl upward so that you can chain into cr.mp. You can also extended combos with the Task like you would with mag to so your not losing out on too much IMO.

Yeah, I get where you’re coming from. It’s just that mag beam is PERFECT for this setup, where as Task and Doom have to make a concession, however slight. Not saying your advice is bad overall, it’s not. But the idea to even use Dorm at all is based on this setup with Mag beam. As for the jC, long as it reaches on a B teleport, then yes that is much better, thanks

Yeah H should reach because the arrows will push them toward you. Im sure it would be the same for a beam as well.

j.M after Mass Change M is your best (sometimes only) option.

Mass Change H should use j.H.

It’s not entirely a concession. Dormammu DHCs into Taskmaster much better than Dormammu into Magneto. It’s just a tradeoff.

After a landed Mass Change M into jM, what’s the best way to transition that to a launch combo? The closer up jH ones arent a problem, but the farther away jMs… Also, as you’ll likely see from my post in the team building thread, I very much am embracing Task over Mag now since I found an excellent team structure where they fit… just beautifully  The problem, as indicated in the other post, is how (un?)helpful Dark Hole is for Task.

You can use it to fill the hole between 6H and whatever you do after that without getting air thrown =)

Right, that’s pretty much exactly what I’m doing. The only “issue,” if it is an issue, is I’m used to Cold Star for that function, and Dark Hole’s stun is significantly shorter. Though perhaps I could turn the neg to a pos and do some tick throws off it? <shrug> thinkin’ aloud.

It also obscures what you’re doing behind it. You could mix up and jump in or just let 6H recover and go low, and they can’t see behind the dark hole. Nothing amazing but atleast it gives you damage opportunities whenever they block.

After j.M, the only thing that will land against the entire cast is c.H. Whether you can launch from that depends on characters and positioning.

I did post a thing or two about Dark Hole with Taskmaster in the Team Building section.

The best thing is to use it as a setup for Taskmaster’s unblockable.

Hey guys I would like your opinion on which Dark Spell is mostly used and is an all around useful Dark Spell?

3D0C is without a doubt the easiest to use and most versatile, followed by 1D2C, then 2D1C, and 0D3C.

Anyway, a little announcement: today my place of work decided to update its browsing filter, and GameFAQs, Shoryuken, and Eventhubs, along with several other websites, are all considered “Game Media” or “Game Playing” now, and are thus blocked. Posting while at work was my primary time to post here, and as such I will be posting much, much less. I will try to set aside a little time once a week to check out what’s going on, but thread updates will become more infrequent (though certainly not abandoned!).

If you have content that you feel is deserving of the thread, please PM it to me so it does not get lost in the shuffle. Not that this forum is that busy anyway, haha!

Yo Karst!

How you been man?? I been out for awhile… all over Makoto in AE. Did you ever move to Chicago? I do still play Dorm, and i’ve been going to casuals around Chicago… if you’re here, I thought maybe you could come out to a gathering or two? Let me know man!
