Accept that Dormammu has no universal attack string. I wish I had something more encouraging to say to you, but every time you use c.M after c.L, unless you know the matchup, you’re risking a whiff and punish. The only real solution is that we as Dormammu players learn what absolutely can be punished, and if we’re just throwing the c.L out there to fish for a hit, we accept that it’s in our best interests to cancel into Flame Carpet because it’s safe, and c.L doesn’t provide time to hit confirm.
Edit: I did actually take the time to record every single character c.L, c.M whiffs on in the Matchup section. I realize the thread is in disarray right now, though.
So recently I’ve been running Dorm as my second with Zero on point, it’s been working out pretty good. You can do Sougenmou and then cancel to chaotic flame on reaction to a lot of stuff, so then you have Dorm on point with Zero powered up projectiles for zoning, it’s super nice. You can also do it off of level 3 buster so if you ever see them call an assist… easy mode punish. Zero also builds a ton of meter for dorm and you can also call the orbs and then DHC back to for easy unblockables if you don’t already have sougenmou active.
Trying to find a good third for the team. I do like ammy though… flame carpet > cold star allows for easy high low mix ups and hit confirms. You can also M teleport while cold star is hitting and then do air dash forward and vary timing just slightly so you have a choice of left / right mixup. If they get used to that you can start air dashing down and going low with the same timing… his mixups are pretty nasty and easy to set up with cold star.
Also was wondering if anyone has tried C.Viper with dorm… seems like if you start a block string and call her immediately, end the string in flame carpet, you can get an unblockable into a combo of your choice.
I recommend a beam, like Doom or Iron Man. Great for Zero and Dormammu.
Flame Carpet + Burn Kick is unblockable, but you generally won’t be able to combo off of it.
Yeah the only problem with running a beam assist character with that team is that all the beam characters make kinda shitty anchors. Magneto’s is probably the best of the beam characters in terms of being able to stand alone but his beam is a bit difficult to combo off of isn’t it? (IE: teleport for dorm and zero command dash into beam). I tried running doom as anchor… he’s definitely not ideal IMO, same goes for iron man. The assist is good but you’re SOL if the first two characters die.
Also you can just raw launcher off of the burning kick unblockable i believe, probably depends on the timing. Burning kick pops them up a bit in an untechable state.
edit: Ok tried it out tonight, I think I’ll run with Dante. Jam session is just too useful. I like screen control (and comboing off of flame carpet easily lol). Plus the lock down for 8 way air dash mix ups.
Well, that saves me a response.
Who would best fit alongside haggar and dormammu?
Probably some sort of ranged assist since it would help both of them and Haggar handles the in close stuff for dorm.
To be added in some form during a later update, after SRK gets its shit together:
Apparently the game gave Flame Carpet planted by itself and one canceled from a normal different properties.
Everytime Dormammu uses a normal and hits , he can cancel into flame carpet regardless of whether their is already a flame carpet on screen.
I’ve been able to get 3 using a push-blocking dummy before the first one vanishes.
Uses? IDK.
Did anyone else know this?
Yeah someone mentioned it awhile back but it kinda fell under the rug.
I added a mention of it to the Flame Carpet section, but everything is in such disarray…
Out of curiousity. Can’t you make a whiffed C. M safe with Fly or 0C 0C (or any other stacked up liberations)? Or any other special besides the obvious slow ones?.
Dormammu can cancel c. M at any frame of it regardless of it touching the opponent, and I currently can’t test.
It wouldn’t be safe any way. If they were mashing something, you’re getting hit.
You can do those things, but they won’t be realistically safe. Unless you hit c.M instinctively and then cancel it before it even comes out, you will not have the reaction time to judge a whiffed c.M to make it safe. If you cancel c.M immediately into some thing, then you can maintain pressure.
Also, the thread is fixed now, after 5 hours of labor fixing all of the bullshit created by the forum change. Everything is now saved in Microsoft Word to prevent this in the future. Enjoy!
Great work, man. That post got bombed.
Yeah, Karst. It looks a lot better now.

What are the notations for this combo? It looks like tag in ADDF, fly,H,L hole,H, L hole, S. Is this correct? I’m brand new to Dorm, hoping someone could verify this for me.
I’m not sure this has been mentioned but it’s not reflected in the sticky for the Spencer matchup, so…
Chaotic Flame is indeed safe against Spencer…unless he has X-Factor and two bars. Otherwise he can Bionic Arm, XFC, Bionic Arm during the hyper and smash Dorm in the face.
This happened to me the other day, I thought it was super smart and at the same time I was super sad.
Chaotic flame is never safe against Spencer unless you are at full screen distance, even at 3/4 of the screen he can bionic arm trough the chaotic flame and hit you.
I have also another tip regarding this match up: the flame carpet is a double-edged sword against Spencer because he can do a bionic arm on reaction when he sees us putting down the carpet, he will hit us but the flame carpet will also hit allowing him to recover in time to use another bionic arm.
Basically he can combo 2 bionic arm without the use of the xfactor.
Pay attention and don’t let Spencer players find this information lol
Does anyone think we’re going to see more Dormammus on any supposed anti-Phoenix teams at EVO?
