I’ve been considering possibilities after landing the homing fire orb super to set up traps afterwards or ideally to reset the combo. So I wonder if it would make sense to tinker with an assist that would allow dorm to do that. If something could be put together that would make the whole thing just one planned out combo with a high-probablity reset after the fire orb, you’d probably be looking at a ~100% combo there, especially if u had meter.

He still has flight?

I think is creator/destructor power combinations are really really useful, but it’s gonna be a lot of planning and a lot of luck. you can’t really squeeze them in mid combo to get what you want from scratch, and my gameplan is going to always have 3d stocked so i can punish/extend a combo should the need arise. If i’m completely bodying someone, or facing a team that can’t get in, i’d definately go in on some spikes and some meteor showers, cause them shits is ridiculous.

Also after FURTHER danger room testing, you can get fire carped to juggle mid screen, but you won’t get a suffer afterwards, but you CAN get a launch.

I’ve been doing some hsien-ko setups using dormammu’s dark hole assist, and it’s really nice. covers a lot of space, mid screen, pretty quick startup, and it leaves them open for resets afterwards. Definitely the assist to use, although a 3d liberation assist would also be retarded for someone like sentinel to extend his already broken combos. I could see sentinel 100%ing someone with no meter with that assist.

I suppose you could theoretically jump -> fly -> Dark Hole, but going into flight mode would need to be near-instantaneous since you are trying to predict your opponent’s placement. Maybe Jester can enlighten us on this point. Last I checked, his flight only lasted about 4 seconds.

I guess that’s sort of my thinking. If I’m playing against a strong keepaway team with no “get off me”, it looks like I can just rushdown with Dormammu by using his teleport (I’m having trouble seeing how MODOK can defend against this). If they have an AAA and start expecting the teleport though, then hellfire spam might be a nice way to say “you don’t want to trade projectiles with me”.

Excellent! Do you need to be right in their face to make it happen, or is this something where if they just happen to stumble into the fire you can make it happen?

Why Hsien-Ko in particular? Still holding out for Dark Hole’s uses with Sentinel. crosses fingers

Fly doesn’t last long at all… There is also a slight startup, it’s not instant.

Thanks for answering those questions Jester, lot of info I didn’t know. Dormammu seems really damn interesting to use, can’t wait to hit the training room.

EDIT: Can you DHC Stalker Flare into Trish’s Round Harvest, so that Flare will stay out? And vice-versa. Seems like bullying to me haha, serious lockdown.

The flare always stays out when you dhc it. If the stalker flare would hit in the combo anyway, then you can dhc into shinku hadoken and it’ll connect.

Also, you can combo his lvl 3, it hits otg, and is also an instant full screen punish. I was playing with smoothviper earlier, and he was using arthur, and he used the goddess’ bracelet from full screen, and i did my lvl3 on reaction and scooped him.

You don’t need any special circumstances to get flame carpet juggles mid screen, but character weight still matters, so you might have to add/omit a button in the combo to get it right.

I’ve been playing dormammu/sentinel for the past few hours, and it’s pretty godlike. Dark hole assist keeps ppl off of sentinel’s big ass, and since sent is so huge he kind of protects dormammu from regular attacks, but supers still own assists for free. Also with dormammu on point, sentinel force keeps ppl locked down hard. I’m starting to like purify just as much as dark hole.

I wanted to use hsien-ko just cause i liked her, but she has real trouble catching characters that want to stay away, so I’m gonna have to use her on a different team. I’m still toying around trying to find a good get off me assist for dormammu, morrigan and captain america’s uppercuts are ass, tatsu assists are ass, zero’s uppercut is decent, and haggar’s lariat assist is pretty good cause it’s instant and juggles them a bit. I’m gonna see what’s good with a few other ppl, I’m sure that i’ll find the magic assist. I tried skrull’s tenderizer and orbital grudge, both are bleh, altho tenderizer is good if you have a rushdown team, it locks them down and since it goes upwards, it prevents jumps.

Put up a combo and strategy thread, because we needed more threads in here and I wanted a place where people could throw things to test that wasn’t just Dormammu GD. Will be filling it up after I finish a bunch of homework.

Yeah, a lot of AAA don’t have that much invincibility on startup so they’re not going to get pressure off of you like in mvc2(like Morrigan’s and Ryu’s AAA are fast but not fully invincible). Magneto’s counter assist should be able to get people off of you though.

Edit: Having someone test the AAA right now. Morrigan’s and Ryu’s AAA can be hit out of startup, but Morrigan’s seems to be the better of the two (probably faster and more priority, so probably a smaller window to hit her out of it). Morrigan lands about half screen and Ryu lands about half her distance. These don’t seem like you can get combo setups like off of psylocke’s or cyke’s AAA, but it may be possible.

Cap, Zero, and Spidey seem to have no invinciblity on startup and can be hit on recovery and upon landing.

Chun’s, Joe’s and Thor’s can be hit on startup, active, and recovery, but not when they land to the ground. Chun’s AAA seems pretty decent though.

Double edit: I don’t think AAA are going to be used to get people off of you in this game from what I have played and keep on hearing from other people. Your best bet is to probably try Magneto’s force field or Morrigan’s srk.

Awesome, I am glad my planned combo works well. I figured Sentinel Force would be a bit better than Air Raid. Since Sentinel Force’s drones hit a little slow, can you cross-up using teleport between hits? Also, how many Dark Holes can get off thanks to Sentinel Force’s blockstun? Any great uses for Black Hole as an assist for Sentinel yet? What is making you like Purification?

Really? I thought Morrigan’s was supposed to be good. Anyway, I have been thinking either Ryu’s Shoryuken or Amaterasu’s Bloom. The neat thing about Ryu is it means you can punish assists hard between Chaotic Flame and Shinkuu as well.

That info you posted is accurate. I’m gonna give that magneto assist a try, as well as amaterasu’s bloom, cause it’s instant and haggar’s instant lariat is pretty dope. I like purification because if it hits, you can get 2 or 3 more for free, and you can toss out a stalking flare and spam even more purifications. Plus it prevents chars from running at all, and owns them free if they try to dash. if they get hit with one, they HAVE to block another one to get out safely, and I loves me some guaranteed damage.

I’ve been toying with dark hole as an assist and using sentinel to try and get something going off of it, but it’s not too great. It does, however, give sent enough time to fly and exchange(frying pan) which is nice because if it hits, you get a bounce and free launcher, and if it doesn’t, you’re still in at an advantage.

Also, baiting opponent supers with assists is godlike, because chaotic flame > every super for free except maybe deadpool’s guns or hadoken beam supers.

i think maybe amaterasu’s ice beads assist might be a good get off me assist because it pushes back. dont quote me on it though, cause its just a theory…

I just want to make sure I heard you right: you can combo Purification off of Purification?

Have you tried catching people with it after OTG Rocket Punch?

Delicious! Have you done any testing on what assists Chaotic Flame XFC Chaotic Flame can kill at full health?

Part of a good “get off me” assist is invincibility on startup, which Cold Stars does not have. Cold Stars fits more in the same area as Chunner’s lightning kicks - combo extender and good if you can bait someone.
