As bad as that seems for Netflix the article also says despite the almost 6% loss in Netflix viewers going to Disney, Netflix is projected to gain back over double that by the end of 2020.

Started to rewatch Gargoyles from S1. My friend calls me up to let me know the voice of Goliath will be at a comic con next year near me. Welp time for a car ride and a long line standing for that autograph.
Honestly, I don’t think this is going to stay that way. If anything, at least Netflix has new stuff going for it. Nostalgia only goes so far. Also gotta see how many people renew in the second year.
Oh for sure. I think that’s why Disney has planned a lot of the expanded MCU shows the way they have for year two and three.
Also there is always stuff for them to announce during SDCC, NYCC and D23. As well as them adding content almost weekly whether it’s back catalog or new shows.
Disney knows that nostalgia has an expiration date for a lot of people.
Pretty much agree. Nothing here is going to keep me using the platform on a regular basis.
Well they got a shitload of Marvel shows coming so there’s that.
EDIT: Nvm, misread.
I been watching the Jeff goldblum show so I have one other thing to watch on it. I been rewatching Clone Wars while I’m at it.
If Disney would greenlight the rumored new episodes of X-Men 92 & Gargoyles, I’d subscribe in a heartbeat
Not having an endless buffet of Star Wars trash to consume like cheap fast food isnt a problem.
I’m at work, so I had to read the article quickly. So if my comprehension of the article is wrong, I apologize in advance. My impression is that he is saying Disney should better scheduled their original content. They should have another original show ready to go when The Mandalorian ended.
While it is in no man’s land now, DC Universe handled this better. After Titans season 1 wrapped up, Young Justice season 3 started. After the mid season finale, Doom Patrol started. When Doom Patrol wrapped up, the second half of Young Justice season 3 started. There was steady stream of new content. Disney’s Marvel content isn’t ready yet and Clone Wars season 7 is two months out.
It is a problem but I already bought in for the year. Should have researched better before doing the subscription. However it is fine, the old Disney afternoon shows will be fine to rewatch and give me a family friendly alternative to Netflix stuff without having to stick to the kids profile.
That’s pretty much it. As things are now, you can just wait for a season to finish, watch the shows in a few nights and cut it off the following month.
My wife likes the National Geographic stuff, and I am only 2 seasons into Clone Wars, and haven’t touched Rebels yet at all. I paid for the year because it’s cheaper, and I still have stuff to watch.
I checked out The Force Awakens last week and I wasn’t extremely impressed with the quality. Most notably, the sound was compressed. And it would stutter every so often. I watched TLJ right afterwards using my UHD blu-ray copy and it was a night and day difference.
I’m not really holding this against D+ though, that’s just the nature of streaming. But I’d rather stick with my blu-ray copies when watching the OT and sequels. Meaning the 4k treatment of those movies isn’t all that impressive to me until they release on UHD blu-ray.
I have the bundle, I’m always watching UFC on ESPN+. If I only had Disney+, it would be on hiatus.
Naw I get it, im just sayin that pumping out content isn’t exactly the answer either.
Got you, that’s a fair point. Disney seems to have a lot on the docket, based on their schedule, it looks like they launched the service a year too soon. They seem to have enough content, it just isn’t ready.
Yea that’s all I’m saying. I understand streamers are hungry for Star Wars but that doesn’t mean they should shit out content.
We just got done with 3 Star Wars movies that are incredibly divisive because the only reason they got made was people wanted more SW. Didn’t even wait to have a plan. Just shot their shot and hoped for the best.
Let’s not keep doing this lol.
Star Wars need to re subscribe to “less is more”. Otherwise it loses its special quality.
From 1977 to 2002 we had 5 live action theatrical movies.
From 2015 - 2020, we will have had 5.
Go low and slow and plan it out.
The thing is, Disney came bursting out the gate with original content for D+. The Mandalorian is the only thing they had that mainsteam audiences gave a shit about. Guys like the ones who wrote the article won’t give shit for High School Musical, and Encore. National Geographic stuff may as well not exist.
That’s basically me. Well, the National Geographic stuff is cool but not subbing for it.
