I think Charlie Huston’s run on Moon Knight was great, what made it better was David Finch’s artwork,it had a more gritty feel to it.
I don’t like Finch’s art - too much Top Cow in it. He definitely drew some cool spreads, like that double-pager of Moon Knight descending from the Moon Copter (lol, “Moon Copter”) in issue 1, and there were a couple pages of Ultimate X-Men where he drew a really badass sentinel, but his overall storytelling skills need improvement. His normal people are pretty unconvincing when portrayed doing mundane tasks; their body language doesn’t look right at all.
And personally, I also can’t stand the way he crosshatches everything. Just too many lines all over the place. Look at any of his people’s brows whenever they look strained or angry. Everything he draws is just overly busy.
I still liked his run on Moon Knight, but only because of the writing. Finch didn’t ruin the experience for me, but the guy who came after him almost did. Coker’s one issue was so baller that I just wish he and Huston had done more work on Moon Knight together, because that would have been special.
Dennis O’ Neil’s run on JLA was also memorable… though it may not be the sci-fi/explosive ideas masterpiece of Fox’s he was the one to flesh out the characters personalities…
Under Denny Green Arrow had a beard, Black Canary Lost his husband and migrated from Earth-2 to Earth-1 and the “Satellite-era” League was born.
