Uhh…that sucks ass. I remember watching an SBO stream last year before streams were even a common thing. I don’t even care about the Shiozawa cup. They should really stream SBO, though.
No, they don’t ask for permission. They just do it, and it’s up to the arcade employees to either stop them or turn a blind eye. I don’t know why this is being debated so much… you can’t exactly videotape shit inside a store in America (if they catch you they’ll usually tell you to stop) so why do you think it’s any different in arcades?
US arcades don’t give a shit about recording. Also, most businesses probably wouldn’t care very much if you recorded, as long as you had a decent reason, not just because you’re goofing around, trying to get famous on youtube.
actually i remember you had to get permission from the arcade and the mall (if it was in one) to record at tilt here in newark.

why SHOULDNT the event be streamed? are you mad that street fighter 4 is mainstream? if the chat is a problem, why not turn off chat?
something as special as SBO/Shiozawa should be streamed for fans to watch. not everyone has money for a plane ticket to japan. most have work, school, kids, obligations to take care off.

The problem would be fixed if the hosts just disabled chat, or use a stream that doesn’t even have chat like the one SBO pioneered a couple years back at SBO4 that started this whole stream-tournament trend.
Tell us how you really feel. The person you initially quoted at no time stated any expectation of a stream, merely asked as the time was approaching for the event if a stream would exist. I can understand being annoyed because often people ask about a stream, but…so?
I don’t think it’s about being spoonfed either, there are a lot of people who want to see purely as fans of the game. I’d want to watch NBA players play in a pickup game before the playoffs (especially if the teams were all mixed up like this 5 on 5) without the desire to x-copy.
Have you ever heard football fans? Fans are fans, they always spout stupid shit. They always expect more for less.
I understand that the game means a lot to you and you dislike what you see as a bastardization of it’s fanbase, but do realize there are tons of people who love to play the game who would just want to see purely because it would…well…be fun to watch. I don’t mind waiting for vids, and if there is no vids oh well. I’m not as personally invested as some and if that means I’m not “entitled” to watch, so be it. I hope there are vids in the future as a fan of fighting games and high level competition.
