Hmm… narcissism, narcissism… I recall the day I learned that word in 7th grade; we read the legend of Narcissus, a man so infatuated with his beauty that he fell in love with his own reflection… literally. I wonder what dictionary.com states the definition of narcissism as:
Now, let’s dissect my posts then, shall we?
1)“Damn, I wish I had this much appreciation back in other communities! XD I don’t think I’ve actually provided nearly as much anywhere else as I have to the Spidey boards though.”
In the statement above, I am expressing my gratitude towards other members of the forums that have complimented my work and have referred people to my channel when they are in need of assistance. (Which I don’t even feel that the videos I have uploaded onto my channel are that effective; I don’t have any footage of my hands performing anything, several outdated and obsolete combos, and a couple clips that are already on my combo video) Also, I have always been terrible with explaining concepts into words because my OCD forces this perfectionist mindset into my brain, causing me to over-complicate statements and posts.
In the next sentence, I state how I haven’t provided *nearly *as much to other communities as I have here. (herp derp redundancy) What I mean by that is that I have barely contributed anything to the Yoshi boards on SWF (well, nothing except Double Jump Heavy Armor percents for Falco, a whole bunch of dead-end research, and any time I would attempt to put my two cents in towards any Match-Up, I’d get blasted because I wasn’t an overrated player by the name of Poltergust. Hell, my nickname amongst them is the Piss Yoshi!), and all I have been able to do on the SFIV Cammy boards is lurk and make meaningless posts and unanswered questions.
I am grateful here to even be ACKNOWLEDGED. Now, if this were an example of narcissism, I’d probably state something along the lines of how I solely advanced the metagame of Spider-man; ignoring the fact that the only reason why I was able to start researching Spidey was by helping Xero find an X-Factor loop; ignoring the fact that Phantasy discovered the raw tag after Spider Sting, as well as a slight damage increase on Xero’s classic 800k BnB -the variation of the BnB I use more than anything-; ignoring the fact that Evil_Rahsaan has been providing us with top-level representation in tournament and new ways to look at our web-slinging character; ignoring the fact that iNerd has been helping organize things on these boards since day 1; ignoring the fact that japanese players EXPONENTIALLY increased our damage output and discovered a corner infinite; ignoring the fact that “Hey, I’ve only been playing Marvel for 6 months, so I’m still learning how to get ***decent *** at this game!”; and ignoring the fact that I take your low-level trolling into consideration so that I can one day actually provoke some sort of legitimate trolling out of you. <3
- “OH MY GOD, XERO, YOU SHOULD’VE SEEN THE UWT READ I GOT ON KAJOQ TODAY. IT WAS FUCKING RIDICULOUS. I ended up behind his Akuma (I think I was Zippin’ around or something) and predicted that he was going to be in the air by the time I had landed so I went for a raw UWT. He still had his back to me and had been attempting to divekick back down to the ground when I had popped it. He was flying away from me, yet my UWT caught him MAX horizontal range. I was fucking hyped LOL.”
Hmm, I was happy about a read that I randomly threw out against someone that normally WRECKS me. Someone that both Xero and I know in person because he’s from Atlanta but he lives in Kentucky right now. In fact, I’m not even sure if I could call it a read; I predicted that he’d be airborne at the time that I decided to throw a raw UWT out, but I was so hesitant that it didn’t come out until I was in disbelief that he would still be in the air by the time the web came out.
However, I should’ve mentioned in the first place that I didn’t believe that I had initially caught him from the look of the screen freeze, and then “I was fucking hyped LOL” because it had actually managed to catch him.
tl;dr #2
^^^ This.
I could’ve just used this as my entire explanation for the second post. I actually feel like I get too loud at tournaments when I seem some ridiculous event occur. But yeah, I didn’t make some hyperbolic claim like it was the best UWT read ever, and that I’m the greatest Spider-man player who ever walked the Earth, let alone because of that *one *read. I don’t even know if I’m really *that *good of a Spider-man player. I can perform difficult combos mid-match and I’m willing to use any and every move that Spider-man has in almost every way imaginable, but I still have never been to a Marvel/Street Fighter tournament so I have nothing to compare to.
Really big tl;dr: I like to make big posts and I get excited veeeerrrryyyyy easily. XD
