That’s what people said about Zero and now it’s clear he’s an S tier that has favorable matchups against other S tiers including Wesker and Wolvie. That was kinda clear to me from the beginning since he’s a walking death star of hit boxes but yeah.
You don’t have to have the absolute toppest tier to win in this game. Everybody does high damage and everybody has some cheap situation that you can put another character into where their only recourse is to XF guard cancel or guess air grab.
Especially now that invincible assists are toned most matchups with rushdown characters like Jill are basically going to come down to “insert Jill in favorable position with strong assist ready, mix up with shit they can’t block on reaction, hit them and then profit”. She has mix ups that are arguably harder to block than Magneto’s plus command grab at close range. She has the old school MVC2 style 4 corner mix ups where you basically have to block in 4 possible directions the right way and then hopefully pushguard her out when she didn’t call an assist. With an assist like Akuma in the middle she can swing behind you while Akuma is out and if you didn’t switch your left/right block you get hit. It’s almost not even worth trying to block.
Felicia’s level 3 is a typical level 3 that you can now mash so it will probably do around 500k damage plus now instead of the normaly 400 to 440ish. You have to combo it off of specific special moves, it’s not just hit them with s.H super like Wesker or Dante. The main extra features it has is that it’s invincible for 60 frames and she can control the distance of it like Storm’s elemental range. Long as the opponent is at normal jump height she can hit them out of their super or special moves even from full screen, land the level 3, relaunch off the level 3 into another level 1 or even level 3 if she had 5 meters when she landed the level 3. Meaning if she hits you with the level 3 after a long combo, unless you have more than 1 million health you’re probably dead or will then get put in a throw/cat spike reset and then die.
Zoning type characters have to be really careful about zoning Felicia with 3 meters. Whatever you do has to be from super jump height or she’s just going to blow through it and take off most of your life.
In general this game just has cheap ass characters so the importance is more so around building a team that works together than one on one style games where you’re solely worried about how high up the tear list they are and who they lose to. Losing matchups can be helped with the correct assist setups from other characters also.
Whenever the first Xanadu tournament is for UMVC3…expect to lose to like somebody random playing Frank West or Rocket Raccoon before you even lose to anybody who will be super high tier. In this game everybody’s got crazy shit that you will just get hit by until you’ve fought it enough to know how to deal with it. Back when the game first came out Taty’s Avenger team was a legit threat at Xanadu for a bit. The team didn’t have great synergy but people had trouble dealing with Cap’s special moves and Thor’s command grab stuff and people would lose to that stuff. It’s MVC3.
All I know about it is that a bunch of cats hop on you. Mind is blown.
Someone in the Chun Li thread who supposedly understands Japanese said it was mistranslated and the legs are actually nerfed. They already did beat most everything so there would be no logical reason to make them have more priority.

Apparently not since it’s probably still up for debate if Wesker really has 1000k health. Maximillian and other sources before have reported it being less and in videos it’s hard to see it as exactly 1000k. We’ll see once the guide comes out I guess.

I read Japanese and it does say the priority was nerfed. If the line has the words “Hyakuretsu Kyaku” and “weaker” in it, I don’t know how you can translate that as a buff.
Lightning Legs definitely didn’t need a priority buff, but I thought SF4 shows what happens when you nerf characters who aren’t top tier and then roll in a bunch of new people.
