at one point the FBI did a survey and they managed to sneak 95% of their test items through the security lines. Hopefully the catch rate is better than 5% now, but I doubt it’s very high.

On my way to Final Round last year I had to open my TE up to prove it wasn’t a bomb. Fortunately they agreed to hold my plane if necessary but it was still a ridiculous thirty-minute process where I had to explain where I was going, what I was doing, and why there were so many wires and circuit boards. Even at the risk of going through that again, I still insist on taking my stick with me as carry-on luggage.

Dude just asked me if they could look into it and just took it to the side, shined the flashlight on the inside, and then proceeded to give that back…but robbed me of my shampoo. I ended up just putting my TE inside my luggage on the way back just cause I didn’t feel like dealing with it and didn’t want to take the risk of missing my flight (which I almost did going to florida)

I thought I told you guys what happened to my stick post evo 2010. I was in a rush since I decided to watch a few more money matches. This was also back when I never checked my stick in cause I didn’t want it damaged. Anyways, I go through security, they pull my bag out and obviously they wanted to check my stick. They decide to do the cotton pad rub down with it and then pop that sample into the machine. Lo and behold, the machine starts beeping really loud with a bright blinking red message that said “EXPLOSIVES DETECTED.” You never want to hear “we have a situation over here” at TSA when your flight takes off in 20 mins. Since I dual modded my stick myself and didn’t do a super clean job on using thinner wire, there were probably wires all over the place in my stick, thus looking super suspicious. So they did the full pat down on me, dumped everything out of my bag, did more cotton pad tests only to find out 10 minutes later that the machine has been bugging out for the entire day. According to the head TSA guy, tiny purses to shoes have been setting that machine off.

This is also why you should be at the airport at least 1-2 hours before your flight and 2-3 hours before your international flight
