So much Chrono Trigger yesterday and a few minutes ago.

Just kicked Masa and Mune, as well as the fusion. And now I’m trying to remember what to do next, I went back to Melchior’s Hut and there was a note saying “He’s out peddling his wares”. It’s been 7 years since I played CT from beginning to end. Not to mention this replacement copy I got for my first one I lost 3 years ago doesn’t have the New Game+ on it, so I gotta beat the game from scratch.

Just got 2 great Japanese SFC Square titles off ebay: Front Mission and Bahamut Lagoon. Can’t wait.

:wow: I’ll bet you have the Super Famicom version of Mega Man & Bass/Rock Man & Forte too. :wow:

Anyway, I started playing Metal Slug Advance yesterday. Now this is my first MS game so I’m new to everything. This is definitly old-school gaming. It may even be bettter than Contra!! Enemies all around you, bombs in your aresenal, tanks. Oh man it is so cool. I’m not sweating it that there is no 2-player mode in this game. I never link up with anyone anyhow. But I’m sucking at the game. I can’t even get past the first level.

I took a detour from Persona 2 for a little bit. It really doesn’t help that I got stuck in Torifune and can’t get past this barrier in B8. I don’t feel compelled to try and figure it out right now, so I started up a quest in Sword of Mana. I haven’t touched the game since buying it when it first came out and I need to put my Gameboy Player to work.

Other than that, Ragnarok Online is opening up a new server Thursday to give everyone that wants a fresh start a chance. Now’s my chance to make my claim at being one of the wealthiest people on the new server. That and to build up some PVP/Guild War characters.

Only games I’m currently playing are Halo 2 multiplayer(got the game a week after it came out,but got live this christmas) and Super Mario 64 DS.I’m hoping to get Kingdom Hearts:Chain of Memories soon.

I just picked up Mega Man X8.

It’s both a step forward and a step back from X7 in my opinion. It’s also the hardest X game next to X6 (it might even be harder!)

First off, we find that Reploids can apparently experience puberty as Axl has had his ball bearings finally drop. His new voice is still youthful, but he doesn’t sound like he’s about to bust out with “Pikachu! Give him a Thundershock!” anymore. However since there is NO MORE LOCK-ON FIRING >:|, he now has an 8-way shot ala Metal Blade from Mega Man 2. (Why doesn’t Capcom decide to use the right analog for aiming instead of mapping it to the same control as walking?)

X and Zero are back too and they basically run this game. Where X sucked in X7, he’s back strong this time, and finally got rid of that gay voice and wuss attitude. Sure, he’s still heistant to fight, but he has no problem with mixing it up though.

Zero is more of the same. His voice isn’t so deep, but he still sounds like a badass. He especially sounds like SFA Guy when using his sword.

In addition, you get not one, but three “Navigators” this time:

Alia = the blonde one who doesn’t sound annoying as hell this time.
Pallet = A green reploid who gives you hints on where items are and how to get them
Layer = A purple reploid who has hair like Shermie from KOF (4negs/Photon would love her) and a huge crush on Zero. She tells you about enemy robots.

I’ve only beaten two bosses so far, but there are 8 again:

Dark Mantis
Bamboo Pandamonium
Optic Sunflower (yes, you fight a sunflower…)
Gravity Antonion (you fight an ant too…)
Crystal Trilobyte
and I can’t think of the others, but Capcom is running out of animals quick…

Then again, who knew there’d be a Mega Man X2 let alone a Mega Man X8?

The Bottom Line: This game is fucking hard. You will hate this game more than you hated X6, but in a good way. X6 didn’t suck and neither does X8, but you will definitely have to fight the urge to take it back to the store if you’re a hardcore Mega Man fan like I am.

Once you get past the “This is FUCKING BULLSHIT!!!” stage, this game is pretty fun. It’s incredibly hard, but fun. I’d recommend it.

At least to everyone who posted in the Mega Man thread months back.

In the words of one Thomas Anderson: “WHOAH.”

I just finished Halo 2’s single player mode for the first time, a few hours ago. (BLAH BLAH SPOILER STUFF if you somehow STILL haven’t played H2 yet.) The Xbox has been on since around 1pm today. (*paused for a little bit of “Passions”, but I forgot about my Jeopardy…) I don’t get what some people’s problem with the Halo games…the single-player mode is great, imo…and of course, multiplayer is the real deal. I’m loving the whole story…it truly feels like I’m the star of some super-macho action movie with bigtime special effects. Halo 2 is a “Schwarzeneggar”. I thought the Scarab thing earlier in the game was greatness, and it was, but it only gets better later on.
As I got deeper into “The Arbiter” side of the story, I was like the Predator…sneaking around with the cloaking tech., killing EVERYTHING. One of the best parts though was where there are 2 Hunters on your side, with some other Elites…they just bust in the room, in a nice shootout with some Brutes…while I snuck up on the side, with cloaking, and bumrushed them with the Brute Shot and my Covenant Sword! It’s just too tight for words. Sadly, my Hunter backup team died at some point, which was surprising…they normally can take a lot of shots…(unless it’s to the back, apparently) Other things:

-Fuel Rod Cannon is THE SHIT. = lay waste to everything in pretty much ONE HIT. It fires a beautiful Radioactive Projectile of Toxic DEATH. A big green radioactive Death Turd. You just can’t mess with that…it’s too much.

-I just got even more rediculous with the Particle Beam. --as I said before, this is my baby. I even love the visual that happens when you fire off 3 shots too fast, and the gun overheats. It actually looks more like those headshots you just scored were so sweet, your character just busted a nut from it.

-The Flood is serious business. =I had a hard time with these bastards, and this was only “Normal” difficulty. It must be pure hell on Legendary. Actually, I think some parts of the game with “Flood” are much harder than the final boss. I beat Tartarus on probably the 3rd or 4th try, with constant use of cloaking, and well-timed slashes with my sword.

----------Complaint:
-There were a few occasions in the game where I simply didn’t know where I was supposed to be going. The level with the library, for example. I was just wandering around there for a long time before I found the path that led to the rest of the board. This is really annoying in any game, imo…it’s like the developer puts the player in the middle of Africa with no map, with no clues other than “Find Zimbabwe to finish this stage.” I don’t like wandering around like a lost child after I’ve killed everything…I just want to move on to the next challenge as quickly as possible.

-maybe it’s just me, but I feel way too vulnerable in the Banshees. I’m fine with just about every other vehicle in the game.

-For real, if I had the Scarab…I would take over this world.

Hey BBCam, thanks for the impressions on X8. It already sounds like a much better game than X7 that’s for sure. But no lock on firing? BOOOOOOOOO!!! But the fact that the voices are better make X8 worth the price of admission alone. At least it sounds like it to me.

Anyone ever been owned by someone yougner than them while playing a game? It happend to me Monday night when I invited some duds from Church over to do some gaming. We were playing Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 on the PS2. We were playing You’re The Cop mode and I was on the run from GJ, a 15 y/o gamer. I didn’t even finish 3 laps and he caught me? WHAT IS THIS??? I can’t be getting punked by a 15 y/o!!! My pride has yet to recover from this travesty. Ow my skills.

Yup. I got Rockman & Forte. In fact I told you a long time ago, I hooked the SNES up to the VCR and taped myself beating the game from beginning to end with Rockman.

And about Metal Slug, it’s not that you suck at it. The series as a whole, especially all the Neo Geo MS’s, is notorious for being on the wild side in difficulty. From time to time in the MS games, you’ll run into some funny things the enemy sprites do. Like at the beginning of the second stage of the very first Metal Slug, you’ll walk up on a group of enemy soldiers sitting around a campfire. Once they see your player, they scramble and you just shoot them up.

I remember beating Metal Slug 3 at the arcade with someone. That was 20 bucks in quarters. We would just plunk in quarters until there was 70 credits.

As a matter of fact, not too long ago, I was playing Metal Slug 3 on someone’s laptop on emulator, I beat the game, but in the final stage, I kept nodding off and falling into small cat naps!

I have decided to quit sonic heroes. Im simply too disappointed in the game and its astonishing amount of bugs. and frankly I got bored.

So I decided to do some backtracking and I picked up the first Blinx and VoodooVince.

SMB started playing Halo and is now addicted. I would like to play as well, but i will have to play the PC version since I only do FPS on keyboard and mouse.

anyone want to buy Sonic Heroes for GC?

I’m still feeling pumped from beating Halo2 last night. This is instantly one of my favorites of all time, despite the few flaws I mentioned in my previous post…I’ve temporarily become on of those annoying fans that can’t stop droning on and on about something…so…more random things (blah spoiler warning blah):

-That sarge guy…he reminds me of Carl “Action Jackson” Weathers…
-Needler isn’t as bad as people say…at least from what I’ve seen. When it comes down to desparate weapon choices…I’d much rather be stuck with a needler than a sorry ass little Plasma pistol. As I browse the forums at Gamefaqs, most people seem to agree that Plasma pistol isn’t really good for anything other than taking out shields, and it MUST be dual wielded with something that actually does damage/kills.

-really big spoiler---------
has Cortana been “corrupted” by that Flood sentience(*apparently the name is “Gravemind”)?
-it’s so cool near the end when the Brutes are fighting the Elites. I tend to help the Elites via sniping, because the Brutes are far more dangerous enemies, imo. Brutes have that “Retard Berserker Rage” where they just bumrush you to death.

I haven’t playing much new recently. A little bit of Deathmatch HALO 2 with my roommates. I’ve also been trying to beat my one roommates PS2 copy of MMAC for the different unlockables from the GC version, and his X-Box version of Sonic Heroes just because the game is pimp and I wanted to play through it again. Plus he’s too lazy to ever finish those himself.

Needler doesn’t suck at all. In a straight-on fire-fight, Dual Needlers is one of the best things to have. It may not be quite as reliable as the Plasma Rifle/Sub-Machine Gun combo (Note that Dual PR and Dual SMG aren’t as effective), or any of the heavy arms like the Rocket Launcher or the Battle Rifle, but Dual Needlers is still pretty effective.

Million I understand you on that whole “Scarab last action hero” part. First time I got there, I was running along the side with rockets and snipers, causing a ruckus. Right when I saw that bridge, everything became clear.

Jumping onto the scarab and cleaning house was probably my favorite moment in Halo 2.

I highly reccomend that you play Halo 1 though. If you thought the flood were badass in Halo 2… :karate:

No prob, Reg. Another note, The X series takes another pace from Street Fighter’s book as there’s now a combo counter which counts the number of consecutive shots you hit. As you make combos, your meter fills up and when it’s flashing red, hit R2 to unleash a duo combo where both your characters strike for massive damage.

EDIT: Oh yeah, and for the most part, the 3D segments are gone.

I’ve played Halo 1, but only multiplayer and 2 or 3 levels of co-op.

2nd Scarab encounter—I wonder if it’s possible to pilot the Scarab yourself? I got so excited when my fellow Covenant told me about getting in the Scarab, and a mission objective even says: “Commandeer the Scarab.”, but when I got there, “Action Jackson” was already in it, and I could only escort/cover him with the Banshee…it was still cool, but I’d want to control the Scarab myself.

heh, I’m going to start up a campaign on Heroic difficulty later on tonight. I had a dream last night about playing more Halo 2. Unfortunately it wasn’t one of those “playing for real” type of dreams, where I’m actually in the game.(*I had a dream like that about Quake 3.)

My next Xbox game = either GTA Double Pack, Ninja Gaiden, or Fable(*in order of preference).

-sidenote—I can’t get enough of that “Welcome to the Jungle” song from GnR…the mention of GTA reminded me of the commercial for San Andreas, and that song seems to fit the GTA series perfectly. You are Ear Delicious…

EDIT—yeah, The gta Double Pack is definitely next. I hear you can make your own radio station there…so I could add other songs that I feel are perfect for GTA, like Motley Crue’s “Dr. Feelgood” and “Kickstart My Heart”…“Natural Born Killaz”, etc. Plus, the funny stuff like gameshow themes. One of the great things with the Psx versions of the old GTAs was that you could do the custom soundtrack thing. I was running people over and wreaking havoc to stuff like the theme from Night Court, Monday Night Football music, Soap, etc.

I’d say to rent fable and ninja gaiden, as they have very little replay value. But I know you enjoy the challenge of V.Joe, so Ninja Gaiden might be worthy of a purchase. It’s pretty god damn hard, but its awesome.

I still play some vice city, going around with my custom soundtracks and causing some serious chaos with my motorcycle+ MP5 skills. The cops cannot touch me.

Ninja Gaiden + Xbox Live = Hurricane Packs = Truly intense shit

Well in Katamari Damacy, my Katamari is getting so big in some levels that I can roll up people!! PEOPLE, I TELL YOU!! :wow:

I was gonna play some GTA: SA and Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 but I’ve been getting home from work late the last two days and spending a lot of time here on my comp. (Sigh) Can’t wait for new year’s day.

Finished playing Metal Gear Solid 3 yesterday. Awesome game. I doubt I’m going to replay it for the stealth camo and EZ gun.

I started playing King of Fighters Maximum Impact. Umm…Hmm…
The game is okay (I only paid $15). I finished it and am now playing the mission mode. I’m currently stuck on 2-05 (the combo mission). I found something on Gamefaqs to help out though.

I’ll probably start playing Suikeden 3 (never played that or 2, though I have them both).

Million,

I think you should get Ninja Gaiden. That had to be the best X-box game besides Halo 2. The difficutly and action is top notch. But GTA Double Pack is definitely your best bang for the buck (can probably find it for as low as $30).

It looks like my next purchase will be sooner than later…I just got some more “christmas money”! And I’m in no mood to save all of it…videogames are one of the few things in life that keep me from truly going off the deep end.

Katamari Damacy cracks me up every time I see footage of it. It’s one of the most oddball game ideas I’ve ever seen. This is beyond even Super MonkeyBall in weirdness…I love it. It’s like…a dung beetle situation, but under heavy influence of LSD or something. Or perhaps just typical japanese wackiness again. They come up with the most off-the-wall shit…it’s great. My mom saw footage of that game one day, and she was laughing too, with the “what the hell is going on THERE?!” look on her face.

Yeah, custom radio station in GTA for xbox is the deciding factor for me. Currently I only have “Burly Brawl” from Matrix Reloaded on my Xbox HD…and quite a few rap songs from whoever owned the system before me.(*they have “Lil’ Flip” on there…hopefully that means the song with the cool Ms. Pacman soundbytes is on there! More games should sample classic video game sounds like that…I love it.) Speaking of which, I suddenly feel like playing GTA2 for Dreamcast again. There was a problem with it though. After long periods of time, the DC version would actually freeze! I’ll never forget those good times in the tank though…nobody could stop me…not police, SWAT, Feds…the Army had a good chance though, since they had tanks too.

…and that somehow brought me right back to Halo 2 again—the Scorpion tank is great. Any part involving the tank makes you feel pretty much invincible. Sometimes I get carried away and start laughing like a madman at the chaos and destruction I’m causing. There’s one level though*-------------SPOILER---------------*where you have a tank, but it’s against Flood…it’s pretty hard because some of them are so easily hidden in the background, and by the time you realize that one Flood guy is up on a rock with a missile launcher, it’s already too late…you die.
Heroic is already kicking my ass, and this is just the first stage. Legendary must be quite rediculous.
