The "Currently Playing" Game Thread-Discuss Your Games, Vent, Give Props, etc

Since it was my birthday, I spoiled myself and bouth the following:

Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls
Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
Bomberman (DS)

Funny thing is, I don’t even own a DS yet but I just wanted Bomberman so badly for it. When I read on the back that the game has more 100 multiplayer levels, I was sold.

On the KOF front, I’m really enjoying KOF '03. I checked out Leona, or whatever her name is. This girl is just awesome in so many ways. I just coudln’t get into Yuri but Leona is top tier stuff. I think she even has the one special that cannot be blocked or dodge. I knew it was coming so I blocked… but that was a HUGE mistake. Anyone else in the series have unblockables?

My journey on Destroy All Humans is finally complete.SPOILER**

“RoboPrez” was cool. The fight with “Silohuette” was also…interesting. I thought for sure I was doing it all wrong, since Silohuette kept regenerating energy. Finally I just outlasted that broad. Oh yah…with a slightly different hairstyle…she’d be a seriously hot piece of ass. If this were 1997 again, Famke Jansen would be perfect to play that role…(*unfortunately Famke is scraping The Wall these days)

I played 2 matches of Halo 2 tonight…I got on a roll in the 2nd matchup on Ascension…I was tied with another dude with 18 kills for 2nd place.

*H2’s Collosus still sucks. Who the hell designed that damn map? I think many seem to share my opinion too…I notice some people just quit as soon as they see we’re going to fight in Collosus. The board just plain sucks.

Well, aside from the grapplers, the only unblockables that come to mind are Yuri’s Demjin Hadoken rip-off, and Ralf has several (the DP + P, and the Galactica Phantom).

Mort - Did your server have a name?

Getting back into Morrowind - Game of the Year edition. Planning on actually finishing the WHOLE thing this time. I can already see the next few weeks will be spent looking for caves in moutainsides.

Which one is Colossus? I can only remember by name Zanzibar, Beaver Creek, Coagulation, Burial Mounds, and Waterworks.

colossus is the map with 2 symmetrical sides with the exploding cores and conveyor belts. Has a big lift in the middle.

I only like playing colossus on human slayer BR. EVERY other gametype on that map is hell. That map and Burial Mounds are absolute DOG SHIT.

HAPPY 4TH OF JULY, FELLOW SRK MEMBERS!!!

Well, I’m not really doing anything special today. Just enjoying the day off.

It has been almost 2 years since I played Final Fantasy I in the form of Final Fantasy Origins. In Dawn of Souls, they’ve added new dungeons along with lots of new bosses like Gilgalmesh, one of my fav baddies from FFV. I’m just glad I picked up the Nintendo Player’s Guide. Got it from Circuit City for $7.99. They even added the Four Fiends from FFIV. Even Omega is here. I ran into that dude by accident when I was near the end of FFV. Oh man, you do not want to screw with that guy. Omega >>> Your Party. It’s as simple as that. As if that wasn’t tough enough, they’ve even thrown in Death Gaze (Doom Gaze) from FFVI and the Phantom Train. I can’t wait to tackle those bonus dungeons!!
:pleased:

I’m just wondering what party I should form. The White Mage is always weak but the healing magic is a must for any FF game. I’d like to take a Thief but they aren’t very strong. But there may come times where I need to beat it so I may bring one along. Still, he’s no Locke. Locke = best thief. Period.

I just wish Square Enix would hurry up and bring us FFIII already. Hey, EX-Sucker Punch, you’re an avid import fan. Have you played the Famicom FFIII? What’s it like?

Collosus kinda looks like a very large mall designed by a retarded person, imo. It has an Overshield at the bottom part with the conveyors…

Unreal Champ 2----I played quite a bit today…and actually won a match! Haha…that brings up my record to something like…2 for 20something.

It’s quite clear that Anubis and Raiden have melee advantages. Just today all I saw were damn Anubis players. I think even Anubis’ reflection hits all around too…I swore I shot a guy with Flak…his back was turned to me…and somehow my shot still got rejected, simply because he was wildly swinging the staff around. I’m really starting to hate that character because of this. A person picks this bean-headed little bitch, and all they have to do is mash melee like a madman…and things get reflected, and they can hit anyone around without even worrying about such things as aiming or timing. If they somehow get within range…that’s it…your shit is over unless you have Selket and do “Flash” and get away from that nonsense.

I’ve pretty much given up on headshots on Live. #1 there simply is too much lag…I might get one for every 100000000000000000 attempts…even halfway decent people can easily avoid that. Nobody in this game is dumb enough to ever stop moving for even .02 seconds, because the pace of the game is FAST. I don’t even try that much for headshots anymore…I’m just glad to at least hit them.

Also, I ran into one strat an Anubis player was using over and over that just seemed impossible to pass. With rockets, he’d just fire and immediately jump. Sounds simple, right?

  1. I laugh if you try to reflect anything on the laggy land of Live.
  2. Even if you’re somehow successful, the rocket won’t hit SHIT, because he’s in the air after firing it…jumping forward. The reflected missile will always miss him…so he’s perfectly safe from that.
  3. Jump or otherwise avoid the rocket…he’s constantly doing this, so what can you do about the other rockets on their way to your face?
  4. Return fire; as I’ve noticed in quite a few FPS…the constant jumping will always make someone a more difficult target than the idiot who only runs around. Besides, even if I went shot for shot with him with my Flak, he would win, as I’m sure the rockets are more powerful than Flak.
  5. My precious “Fear” I like to use so much? Doesn’t apply to this situation since he’s not even using powers. “Nimble” just makes me an easy target…I won’t even bother with that power…in fact, I haven’t used Nimble since my first few days of playing the game in single player.
  6. “b-air” dash isn’t going to hit anything. Even if it does, the damage is hardly worth how wide open you are after it. Power air dash? nigga please. Doing that in this game is usually just asking for any random person to kill you. It even makes you quite an easy sniper target due to the startup time.

I probably only killed this dude once or twice, and that was pure luck(he was distracted and I got the drop on him)
My Halo 2 level, btw = 4. At least I’m slowly moving up.

*whoah…extremely hot piece of ass outside my apartment just now…girl looks like she stepped out of a Playboy pictorial…

haha:rofl: Nice description.

Yeah, once DJ NGGR said which one it was, I remembered. It is a shitty map.

I’ve been playing Devil May Cry 2 now. It sucks. 1 is great, 3 is almost perfection, but 2 is ass. It is so simplistic it’s dumb. You can pretty much just mash triangle and dominate everything. Even bosses can be button mashed to death. Both of the other games took me about a week and a half to beat, but I finished both of 2’s characters’ stories in one day. Working on Hard now, hasn’t been any worse.

The auto-aim is also retarded in this one, though. It’s pretty much impossible to select your own targets, you just have to attack the enemies that it selects. And to make matters worse, it often doesn’t select the most logical target. This leads to taking a lot of cheap hits here and there. Also, enemies don’t get put in hit-stun right away. You can be beasting on this one dude, and he’ll just slap you mid combo. Not that any of that is a big deal, since the enemies are mostly weak and stupid anyway. It’s just annoying to take a hit that you could have avoided were you able to break the auto-aim at all (and if hit-stun worked properly).

Story is lame. Really lame. They don’t even explain what Dante’s last boss is. You just fight this random thing that shows up after his next-to-last boss.

They’ve nerfed Dante’s moveset badly. Stinger no longer has any of the range or speed that it did in 1 or 3. You also can’t do either of his best one-sword combos (the standing five-hit is gone, as is Million Stab).

Also, weapon upgrades are stupid. In the other two games, you bought new attacks for your weapons. It was neat. In 2, you just pay to upgrade the damage. Whoopty-fucking-doo. And the prices are retarded as well. Shit gets so hella expensive it’s dumb. As things look now, I still won’t have all the weapons maxed even after I finish DMD! mode.

Just got done playing through Metal Slug 5 again. I got through the first level with the use of the Metal Slug and I did it with 6 prisoners. After that, well, I haven’t been so fortunate since.

Anyone here play Star Ocean: Til the End of Time for PS2? The game has recently become Greatest Hits and I was thinking about picking it up.

Honestly, I believe that Square Enix has canceled FFIII. There hasn’t been a single bit of news or info since the game was announced, not even at E3. The game has already disappeared off of Nintendo’s “coming soon” list. I’m really dissapointed… FFIII is the only FF I haven’t played and I was really looking forward to it. Oh well.

Happy 4th of July.

Fucking around with Atelier Iris. Just got to start weapon customization (called weapon synthesis) I hope it’ll be tight. The game is really pretty. I’ve been wondering though…

Is it possible to change the fucking camera when you’re walking around? The game has some weird ass 3/4 camera where when you walk you don’t see everything and some things look like you can get to them when you’re walking around but something unseen is in the way.

The dialogue is can be quite sacchrine at times. The game feels like another RPG I’ve played… but I don’t remember what that game was.

This has been THE INVINCIBLE SWORDSMAN saying:

Still waiting for NCAA Football 2006.

i got into gunbound a little bit. its ok but its kinda dry without friends. i just wish kof2k2/2k3 for xbox live would hurry the fuck up.

i need to play some bf2.

Started Final Fantasy I on FF I & II: DOS. Took me a bit before I could decide on what party members I wanted. I always go with a Warrior and a Monk. Monks pack more offensive power than an entire party put together and on top of that, they never need weapons. This was the first time I decided to go with a Thief but I’ve only been playing for less than an hour’s time and I don’t regret choosing him. I get a good amount of preemptive strikes and his offense power isn’t too shabby. And of course I picked a White Mage. So this is basically my party and their names:

Parn-Warrior
Gohan-Monk
Rocke-Thief
No. 18-White Mage

Anyone that can guess where I got those names from gets a super delux no prize.

Anyone remember back when Nintendo Power had those contests? I remember one was beating NES version of Final Fantasy with nothing but a party of White Mages. I think four people actually pulled it off. Amazing.

I didnt realize till halfway through the game i have to unequip Monks Nunchaku. Cause it registered as stronger than his physical attack but i was wrong. I had a Monk,Thief,BLack mage,White mage. My friend said warrior is one of the better classes but i beat the game by then.

Oh and some of the bosses in the extra dungeons are really hard. There was one its physical attack was like 800. But i cant remember where i saw it.

I’m gonna go with DBZ. I know Gohan and #18 (Android 18) are at least. M roommate loves that stuff.

I just bought Star Ocean 3 after asking wether to choose ManHunt over it. What can I expect from this game? On a sidenote, does anyone have a video capture of Ramirez’ Silver Eclipse from Skyes of Arcadia?

Remy gets the Super Delux No Prize!!

As for the other two names, I got Parn from Record of the Lodoss War and Rocke, well, I just removed the L in Locke’s name (FFVI and replaced it with an L.

My parents just sent me a package full of stuff they bought for me, and Meteos was amongst the things in it. As for the game… It’s not too bad. I still think that Kirby and WW Touched! are the pinnacles of DS gaming (for now), but Meteos is good. I like the way you can pick a “home planet”, and that determines different blast-off speeds, fall speeds, effectiveness of horizontal and vertical rockets, effectiveness of docking, regularity of the different block types, etc. I can see from playing the CPU that the multiplayer would likely be very good.

I still don’t get this thing with putting stories on puzzles games, though. I just pawned off a Tetris that had a new story mode, too. There doesn’t need to be a story for this shit. Let’s just match the falling blocks. Who gives a fuck why!?

Hey Reggie, what do I do with all this “No” that I suddenly have lying about?

Star Ocean Til the End of Time is easily worth the $20. My brother and I love this game!
