Metal Slug X is between 2 and 3. MS1, 2, X, and then 3, 4, 5.
Speaking of Metal Slug 4 & 5, what made them so hated? I know they weren’t made my the original MS team but what other reasons?

i didnt like 4 that much, it was waaay too different. first level boss was pretty cool though.
edit: fuck i didnt know the uc2 update was out, ill give it a second chance now. ill add you up million maybe we can play a few.
X is actually an upgrade to 2. Extra weapons, new enemies, a few changed bosses and such. And as for 4 & 5, I like them, they just don’t have the same spark that 2, X, and 3 have. Layout seems lacking, the new vehicles are crap, double uzis is really lame (it’s basically Heavy Machine Gun but without the ability to ghetto shoot diagonally), the new bonus score system (rank I think it’s called; the little medals that give you bonus points for rapid kills) is just another reason to feel bad for dying, many of the bosses are kinda lame too. Also, 3 had those cool branching paths and then 4 didn’t.
I still would like to pick up 4 & 5, though. They’re okay games, they just seem weak compared to the superior previous ones.
Definitely get WarioWare Touched! and Kirby’s Canvas Curse. Those are the two best games for utilizing the touchscreen, and WWT! also uses the mic pretty well, too. If you liked Super Mario 64, then also get Super Mario 64 DS. Playing as Yoshi, Luigi, and Wario is sweetness, there are some extra bosses and stars, and it’s just all around a different enough experience to be worth getting. Polarium is okay if you like puzzle games. Watch for New Super Mario Bros., a new 2.5D Mario game that is akin to the old SMB/SMW games, and Meteos, which is something like Lumines for PSP.
They aren’t until fall, but CastleVania: Dawn of Sorrow and Sonic Rush are looking pretty good, too. Maybe Scratch! Viewtiful Joe, but it is looking a little weak compared to VJ/VJ2.
I’m in love with the Souvenirs in Warioware: Twisted! The Game section in particular offers to surprisingly addictive mini-games called Eternal Wario Hockey and Pillow Fight. On Pillow Fight I got a score of 143. I’ve got to unlock more Games in the Souvenirs section. Stuff is so much fun to just go through. Makes me wish there were more than 143 Souveys to unlock. Miillion, if you’ve got a GBA you gotta get this stuff.
EDIT: Thanks for the info on MSX.
man…playing UnrealC2 against real people is almost like a completely different experience than against bots. Things get incredibly fast-paced, and even more chaotic than Quake3 Arena, especially on the smaller maps.
I was going to play Halo 2 last night since my fellow Halo1 compatriots recently all got on there…but I can’t find it! Things have a habit of fading away from reality around me…perhaps if I didn’t have the wonderful, perfect UC2, I would be much more pissed off at the fact that my Halo2 has fallen out of existence like the little sister on Family Matters.
*I hate Apophis…but I have to admit…it was kinda fun to play with that character.
Unreal fans already know, but I’ll put it out there for those few that don’t:

^there’s some good pics there too…of course I snagged one of Brock. ohhhh I’d kill to have his powers. I daydream of all the possibilities of me with those Necris powers; Wraith form, Fear, Ethereal
*I noticed that people who play Anubis and Raiden tend to rely so much on their inherently better melees…and without any precision or finesse or whatever…they just meleemeleemelee with reckless abandon…and it annoys me that this can be quite successful. It’s the equivalent of those players in fighting games that don’t know much at all about the game, and they just push random punch buttons and run at you 100% of the time…except in UC2, it actually works when they have fast characters, since you can be frozen before you can do anything to stop it. Occasionally some Flak shots will work on this if they’re truly not that skilled, since they’re too busy mindlessly jamming on the melee button to think about reflecting something.
The easier ones are the players(usually Raidens) who just charge-up air-dash 100% of the time…I can just aim up and shoot them during the lag on that move.
Destroy All Humans came on a Saturday. Aside from a somewhat troublesome camera and lock on system I’m totally fucking loving this game. Crypto is great, I put him up there with Ratchet, Jak, and Kratos. I’ll post up some first impressions later or tomorrow, so far so good though.
dammit…that game hit earlier than it was supposed to, I think…and so now it’s apparently sold out here. I haven’t checked Target or Walmart yet though…I’ll have to go there in person, as it takes forever to get an answer from either place on the phone. So…it may be awhile before I can get Destroy All Humans.
I know some think Game Informer is a rag but they did give Destroy All Humans and 8 and an 8.25. Unless the game ships in small amounts, I’ll wait for the price to drop before I buy it.
I just started Metal Slug X about 10 minutes ago. Man, this is pure classic, shoot-anything-that-moves old-school fun. I’m still a bit new to the MS series though. The first MS game I ever played was MS Advance on the GBA and that game rocked but it was unforgiving with the card system. If you collected cards but died at all, you got jack. On top of that, you only had 1 life but you infinite continues helped a lot. And the final boss was just plain evil. Even after 20-30 tries in a row I still never beat that fiend.
Anyway, have you always rescued prisoners in MS games? Have there always been groups of soliders chatting, unware that there is a grenade only seconds away from blowing up in their faces because they were shooting the breez? I was actually able to make it through the first stage without dying. But stage 2 was a bit tougher.
Have any of you guys imported Killer 7 yet?
Yes, you can always rescue prisoners in MS. In later MS games, there are even “hidden” prisoners that you can reveal by shooting some spots (you can tell when you shoot somewhere and notice that they disappear because they are hitting something). Like, did you know there is a hidden prisoner in the beginning of stage 2 before you enter the pyramid (still talking MS X here)?
I think that in this and later MS games, there are even prisoners that help you fight the enemies…one of the bearded guys actually throws Hadokens at enemies, and I think that in Metal Slug 3 and beyond, armed monkeys help you, too.
Yes, you can find many prisoners in casual situations like having a picnic or taking the sun. That’s when they usually raise their arms and scream when you approach.
In MS X, I can pass the first 3 stages without dying…but starting stage 4 it becomes MOST difficult.
i liked nadia from ms4. was that her name? i just thought the chewing bubblegum while shoot was cool, reminded me of duke nukem
btw i kinda want to buy the ms3 for xbox just to support snk, but i heard each mission you only have one credit. is that true? how the fuck do you beat the final mission on one credit damn haha
Lots and lots of practice. But I had played the arcade version enough to beat the entire game on one credit, so I was able to do it pretty easily by the time I got the X-Box version. It can be done, but is admittedly very, very hard.
And that restart the level system is very stupid. I hate Playmore for doing that.
is the new area 51 any good? I heard its online too. I want to try it out for ps2 online.
Ok after a few missions of DaH I have to say that the camera and lock on are not as troublesome as I thought. Once you get the hang of strafing in this engine lock on and targeting are second nature. I think I was just spoiled by the excellent lock on in R&C. The missions are fairly easy so far, but I recently engaged agents who can see through your disguise and actually deal out some good damage. I was laughing out loud at the end of this one mission where you are required to bend antennas on roof tops to help with a signal to your ship, Crypto fucks it up and the signal causes everyones head to explode. Oh yeah, Crypto sounds like Jack Nicholson.
Anyone picking up Conker live and reloaded?
anyone here play FirePro Wrestling D for DC?
PFH- area 51 is pretty forgettable. I wouldn’t reccomend picking it up.
JigglyPuff- I’m DEFINITLEY picking that game up. Halo 2 has gotten kinda stale waiting for the new maps so im gonna give that one a shot.
Let us know how it plays online. I also want to try something new and the game’s multiplayer looks good
To those playing Namco x Capcom, how does Mission 9 work? It’s the Akuma vs. Ryu/Ken stage. I’ve established that one of the objectives is to keep Ryu alive (since the game ends when Ryu dies but not when Ken dies). What do I do? Akuma is a beast and it’s unlikely that I’ll survive more than one turn from him even if I use potions and heals.
Edit- Nm, GameFAQs proved useful in this case. And proves I’m still ass at RPG’s. Back to Pokmon Blue I go.
I went back to A3^ and TA on GBA.
Tekken Advance, I found had a crazy juggle system, you can do EWGFx5, so I’ve been playing with that.
Alpha 3 Upper, been playing with the ism+'s and CVS2 characters.
So, is Alpha 3^ as good as any home/arcade versions/revisions? It seems to have EVERY bit of animation, more characters, and even frames that were taken out of the PS1 version.
D/Ling Juiced for PC now, played a demo on PS2, wasn’t impressed, plays like SRS, which is shitty. Oh well, free is free.
