Thats what a lot of people just dont get. They think because she didnt start cussin’ Aris out, she must have liked it. However the reality of the matter was that she came there to compete like everyone else and is the only one that has the guy who looks like he lives on the street trying to smell her. Imagine how uncomfortable that must have been. Plus you have thousands of people (including family and friends) watching online. Aris even said something along the lines of “if you are going to be part of the FGC you must accept sexual harassment”. Really? Though you may hear her laughing, when they actually show her face as these comments are being made, she looks like she’s trying not to cringe.
I honestly was not too familiar with Aris before the show other than seeing the pictures of him hugged up with Kayo Police (who ironically is really a man) but Im certainly not a fan now. Dude is a creepy jerk. Not to mention he absolutely sucks at coaching his team.
If people really want the community to grow the sexist stuff has to stop. No one wants to put up with that stuff. The “stream monsters” are the worse since they get to hide behind fake names. If it isn’t sexism it is racism. I was honestly getting pissed at how everytime Mike Ross got on the mic someone was calling him a nigger. Really?
I’m still trying to understand the sentiment held by some in this thread that Miranda should have to “toughen up” and take some of the creepy harassment that Aris was throwing her way. She should have nipped some of that in the bud from the beginning but also she shouldn’t have to be subjected to it in the first place. How badly do you think this looks towards other companies who were looking to embrace the FGC?
Seriously now, I find this affair to be really weird. Not condoning Aris or anything, but if she told him to stop and he didn’t all she had to do was to call the producers of the show to deal with it. She didn’t have to put up with this shit if she didn’t want to, and she didn’t need to forfeit her dignity and/or $25000 to do so.
Super_Yan really could not do anything, but wait for rescue. I mean when it finally came out she is painted as craving attention and such. There is a reason people commit suicide over stuff going too far and it isn’t because they are weak. As far as her laughing, if you were unable to see that her laugh was often faked then that is an error on your part to see someone’s pain. Anyone who says it is easy to handle harrassment/bullying has never really been that deep into the fire. When if you say anything, then the whole group turns on you and your situation gets worse. The only hope you have is to be rescued. That or to fight, but then you get thrown in jail. Because harrassment/bullying is fine until the victim throws a punch and the victim goes to jail. That’s why so many kill themselves and/or others. All because people do not understand the power that words have and is made ten times worse by the parrots that plague the internet.
Is it hard to imagine that a female completely surrounded by males may be afraid to start poppin off? Are you familiar with the word “intimidation”? Aris is not only a large scary looking man, he was in a position of power over her as her coach in the competition. Look, Im in the Army where men out number women 7 to 1.We have to get trained sexual harassment multiple times a year because the crap happens all the time in situations when there are many men and few women. One of the main points they always tell us is that just because a person doesnt speak up does not mean they are okay with what you are saying. You have to just be respectful o how you talk around people because you can never be completely sure how they feel about it.
BTW, How did we become this society that blames the victims for the things that happen to them?
“Since she didnt say anything it her fault. Aris is just a happy go lucky fun loving guy and she should have known that” oh okay.
The responsibility of what when down falls solely on Aris. If he wasnt a creepy douche there would have been no drama. End of story.
