I would suggest you buy a pair of APC’s, from your outfit I think you would like the ‘New Standard’, they run about ~$135 definitley worth it.
They don’t need to be selvedge denim either in order to get nice fades, selvedge just gets people caught in the hype, it can sometimes command a higher price vs non-selvedge in certain instances.
don’t use starch either.
edit: for websites you can just google APC clothing, but I reccomend you try them on in person and go a size down since they stretch.

If you just want to experiment with raw denim try out academi. From what i’ve heard its pretty good japanese denim. Plus, its only $80 so you really can’t go wrong for that price. http://www.contextclothing.com/brands/academi/
