If your going to play SSF4 then right now GGA isn’t really for you. DeadsArena or home play would be best. But if you want to play more than just SSF4 then support the arcade scene that just opened up here. Don’t drop this place that just opened like all the other places chicago has abandoned because of BS reasons (Gigawatts, Nicklecity, Gameworks, modchipman, brunswick bowl, whatever darkkakashi was holding his tournaments at), keep supporting them and they’ll support you guys back.
Why is it that chicago is the only major city with a crappy competitive fight scene. Could it be because most of us don’t support our arcades? Texas does, Cali does, NYC does, Japan does. They all tend to do better than us at major tournaments (Floe and Big Marcus excluded). You’d think that might be an indicator to something that they’re doing right and we’re not.
I’ll keep on going, maybe I’ll force myself it like SSF4 a little bit, learn some vs games, play some SFA3 once they swap out or fix that wacky monitor on it.

I definitely agree that we should keep supporting, I was just was making sure we had the ability to play on something until they got the cab working out. I’m really hoping we could use one of the rooms for Fri / Sat to hold casuals in it or Tournaments even. It would definitely make sure they get a steady flow(probably most) of us there consistently. If I didn’t do what I just did and players had nothing but the laggy SSF4 to play, the numbers would have decreased drastically every week…I’m sure.

correction, the numbers for people who goto play SSF4 competitively will decrease. numbers for casual gamers, people wanting to relive the old arcade does aren’t going to decrease because of a laggy SSF4 cab. Which is 90% of the arcade playerbase.
My main problems with other establishments don’t exist here at GGA. Its open late so I can drop by after work for a few hours every night if I so wish. Its relatively close to both my work and my home and it has just about everything. I wish it might have some SFEX games but then I’d be the only one playing lol.

You have to be kidding me, we were at least half the people there on Friday. How do you get 90% from? And at least 75% of those played SSF4. Either way not wanting to get into it with someone else who is a SSF4 hater, cause it would just get no where. You must have not have seen the xbox room on friday night, one lagless setup of SSF4 had a pretty big line to play till people got tired of waiting on one setup. Either way why would you make a comment that doesn’t benefit anyone…we already talked over the phone, its old news now.

Definitely gonna try for Joes this thursday, havent been to GGA yet, alot of arguing going on… im still relatively new all I can say is fuck will smith… lmao.
and on saturday night there were only 5 people there from SRK. Meanwhile there were 30 other people there playing everything else but SSF4. When I went last night I was the only SRKer there. Just remember that we aren’t the only people that goto arcades. Especially if SRK is going to decide on going on just 1 day a week like they did with gameworks. GGA will need other people to come in other days of the week, aka their regulars. Like the people playing dat madden in the console room for example.
BTW there was a slight change in their entry policy last night. No matter when you buy the entrance fee it expires at 2am.

What’s the point of your post and what does it achieve?
The point was that there were more SRK peeps than ShinjiGohan thought. He thought there were only 5, but that’s probably because he only recognized 5, when there were probably twice as many as he thought.
There are some people from Chicago who lurk SRK. Just because they’re not well-known or post in this thread doesn’t mean they’re not part of the community.

then how do we define who is on our community? just because they live here? then they obviously aren’t from SRK, if no one from SRK knows them. if I get some of my friends to post on here once then come out to a gathering, they still aren’t from SRK.
I was actually including you and your little troop of 4-5 people since I was still playing when you guys left at 1am. So unless there are srk members that both you and I don’t know there that night then my count was right.
As it was sunday afternoon when I sold my rival schools and strider 2 arcade boards (me and the one volunteer that recently started posting on here again), last night with it being only me. Or the last 4 days when my co worker came in who sucks at SF in general was getting some win streaks going (he likely wouldn’t have gotten those win streaks on anyone here who was competent in SSF4 thus negating the possibility of an SRKer being there when he was there).
So I think my point stands quite well, GGA has a lot of ther customers besides us. Just because you decided to go on openning day at midnight with 20 other SRKers doesn’t mean that its always like that. If I go right now there wouldn’t be 20 srkers, infact I’d probably be the only one again with 10-15 other regulars. So D’s comment that the arcade’s attentence will faulter greatly if we don’t get what we want is mostly untrue.
