The Cartoons and Animation Thread

Yeah the Megas XLR situation is all kinds of fucked up due to executive bullshit. It would probably take Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos type money to free for a re-release let alone give the OG creators ànother crack at a new season.

I had never heard of this Megan’s dor and I googled it. If it’s some tax write off he’ll why can you buy the seasons on iTunes?

Same fate as Symbiotic Titan that show was real good.

is that the same with generator rex?

CN did really good action cartoons

The rights for it could have been sold off before they wrote it off. Taxes like many things government related work in a way even if they are not supposed to get money off it they can or probably have drained it dry before saying it is a loss and not having to pay additional money for it, unless some new revenue stream is made for it’s IP.

I couldn’t bring myself to like this cartoon…

Didn’t care for it either. Liked that sitcom Looney Tunes reboot from a few years ago where Bugs and Daffy are roommates

I actually thought the Looney Tunes show had potential…

Wiig imo was great as Lola…

Loony Tunes show was the best Loony Toons anything in years and people bitches whined and cried that it wasn’t Merry Melodies.

This is why we can’t have nice things.

This was one of my favorite Lola moments

I didn’t like how the Loony Tunes show turned Lola into a stalker with a crush. They should have stuck with her Space Jam characterization

Her one note furry fetish personality?

looney tunes was great and funny not really for kids

I do like that the reruns and the new looney tunes from 2016 are airing on boomerang

Hbo max needs to put all their kids wb, tiny toons, pinky and the brain stuff on the network along with the cn stuff they own

Though with tiny toons and animaniacs and freakazoid their might be a snag with dreamworks

Sad as those people realize they never will get another Merry Melodies. That show was very much a product of the times. Also people forget all the merry melodies that can’t be shown on TV for being obviously racist.

With any property or franchise, it is never the same upon return. Whether it’s a change in the times, creative team, or you personally, it’ll never hit the same way as the original. It should be judged on its merits as it’s creation.

That said, I am currently watching Transformers: Animated on Tubi. Consistently it ranks in the top 5 of the shows produced (granted there aren’t a lot of “great” series to start with). I never watched it because of the show’s general aesthetic and thought it was far too kiddy. Going through it now I thought it was a solid take on the show with some nuances that strayed away from G1. In particular, Optimus Prime not being the Supreme Commander of the Autobots, and the team is treated more as a group of aliens in the writing.

Then I got to the episode “The Thrill of the Hunt”. It introduces the character Lockdown and retells how Ratchet met the bounty hunter. This is when I actually gained some respect for the series. It dealt with personal trauma, being vulnerable, and PTSD all in a 22-minute children’s show. It wasn’t heavy-handed yet gave you a lesson and established character motivations.

With many of these retreads, it’s not fair to immediately judge the book by its cover. I’ll at least give it a watch so I can have an informed opinion about it.

Everything is circular. You get sick of something, they change it up for a while… Then you get sick of that and it comes back to some form of the original. It’s built into our DNA for some reason… Pick anything clothes, culture, art it always works in some weird for of circular motion

Anyway.

Yeah…this seemed more adult to me.
