I mean yeah, it loses to a deep crossup on wakeup, but what DP doesn’t? DP shortcut still works in this game so you can still defend against jump in cross ups (auto correct with df,db,df)

Cannon strike has 1 MORE frame of hitstun than AE, making it easier to combo off of from air to ground- (consult the divekick chart thread if you don’t believe me ). The ranges where it wont combo are the ranges where you would cross up anyways and be safe from a lot of AAs, so don’t cannon strike then. I thought it wasn’t possible at first because timing is different to combo then SF4(because cannon strike has more recovery than SF4), but once you get the delay down, it’s pretty easy.

Test the st.mk range in training mode, it has the same range as st.hk.

I mean yeah, I’m not going to pretend like cammy doesn’t have trouble opening up people. But she has a lot of safe pressure in the form of st. jab, which scares people into not pressing buttons. This allows one to set up cl.st.hk setups and throws.

I was trying to give my impressions of cammy, and what I feel like people should be abusing with her. I wasn’t trying to put people on blast for saying cammy is ass haha. This thread should be about talking how cammy plays and what to do with her, not about how good/bad she is.

I’ve started to experiment in SFXT and I think Hwoarang has good synergy with Cammy. He can easily get in with Special Step and Air Raid, and then Switch Cancel to Cammy with Heavy Hunting Hawk, which allows for Cammy to continue the juggle or even combo into her Super Art.

Looks like Dieminion is playing Guile/Cammy, that’s what I’ve been working with too. I really like Cammy as a footsie / AA character, kind of weird for her but it feels really good in this game.

also played around with rufus/cammy and I have to agree with you teknique, that stuff is dirty. kinda using cammy as a battery/running around all speedy like. lol but I guess rufus in general is damn solid.

I’m running with raven atm and I feel like it works well for mixups and high damage as well, cause of them cr.hp loops that can tag cammy in pretty easily. Also sort of looking into cammy/law.

-MK DP is completely invincible, it never loses. Do it deep, TC into your other character for insane damage. Paired with certain characters she gets almost 300 dmg just from AAing you. USE MK DP!

-far MK chain into far HK is completely safe and can be used as a DISTANCED confirm into launcher. If it’s blocked you can’t be punished, if it hits…free damage. You can also use it to whiff punish. I can’t think of any characters that have safe hit confirmable strings from Cammy’s far MK tip range.

-Cammy doesn’t have Tag-in combos that go on for as long as some other characters. But she hits like a truck; she does more damage than most of them anyways. Tag in: cr.MP, float, st.HPxxHK DP does great damage. Run her first and throw a character with chunky combos on the tail end, and you’ve got yourself a high damage team that can initiate combos off AAs, whiff punishes, and long, safe, high priority pokes.

-Cammy isn’t meant to be played like her SF4 iteration. I think the optimal lay out is: character with good footsies and AA on point, and someone with good damage/good close range in the back. You hit confirm with Far MK/cr.MK~HK, jab x9000, or AA MK DP. If any of these hit your next character comes in and does damage PLUS retains good positioning. This is Cammy’s strength. She turns any number of safe pokes or AA opportunities into big damage. If you’re complaining about her lacking mix-ups or CS stuff, well…pick a second character who covers that and go crazy once Cammy has done her job.

The point of X Tekken is to use both characters and cover weaknesses. If Cammy could do it all there would be no point for a second character. She’s obviously slightly worse because of that, deal with it.

That MK to HK connects to a launcher? I was trying it out last night and couldn’t seem to get it.

I just looked at the recent tier list, and it appears that Cammy is in the A tier, or High Mid-Tier. Thoughts?

The tier list is lazy rough draft edition. Cammy is soo good.

I agree soo much!.. i mean i think the problem is yall are comparing her to AE… this isnt that game … and she still is a good character… i just think whoever think she sucks needs to step your footsie/movement up all together … i got interested in lookin a frames of her normals… she actually goes hand in hand with chun li in this game… work on ur movement and spacing dudes … another vital thing is that yall kno she needs bar … so she should never be ur point character in my opinion… she has excellent pressure … frame traps are wonderful and a great dp … i treat her more like a counterhit/grab character in this game… and off tag ins u can start your pressure easily and/.or do big damage depending on your team… another thing ( Josh Wong 1st place Zangief/Cammy ) sooooo she is watttt? Stop playing her like a dumbass and actually go to the training room and become open minded and creative … shes a good character … but i believe as a assist character…

I take back what I said about Cammy. JC-able cl.HK is a god-send for Cammy and making Cannon Strike faster would break her. You have to tear yourself from your SF4 Cammy mindset. Her regular Cannon Strike is too slow for SF4 Cammy rushdown and meter is too precious to use EX Cannon Strike very often, you can’t even use it reliably for meaty pressure because of rolls. Her only real use for it, IMO, is for cl.HK mixups.

I haven’t really seen much mention of her vortex. I think it’s even stronger than her already good footsies. Once she gets a jump in, it’s all over. Is there a clear answer to her cl.HK vortex? One that beats TKCS, delayed CS, crossup j.LK, and empty jump? I feel like she can do it basically all day and the opponent can only guess their way out. Her st.LP pressure is also amazing and you can seriously do like 5 walkup jabs and have them all connect in 1 combo, it’s ridiculous.

I disagree with her needing bar. EX Cannon Strike isn’t as great in this game because it’s still slow, her frame traps are aided by boost combos so you don’t need it to get damage off of a frame trap, and your opponent generally doesn’t have any reason to press buttons. EX Spiral Arrow nets you a bit extra damage, but I don’t really think it’s needed. Here’s what I get from Cammy on point, with a max jump-in combo. Also possible from frame traps:

j.HK, cl.HK JC Cannon Strike, cl.HP, st.HP xx Launcher (Lili) Angel Knee, cr.HP xx LK Sunflower Lance: 433(IIRC) damage meterless. Can make it 450+ with 1 meter. AFAIK Cammy doesn’t get much juggle potential off of a launcher? I’m not really seeing it, unless you guys just want to do EX Spiral Arrow off of a boost combo. She makes a great point, IMO.

Is Cammy really that much worse as a battery than as an anchor? From someone who just added her to my Steve team (I alternate her and Hwo), I thought with how nice her footsies are and her DP, she seemed like a solid little can opener for tags and such. I know that it’s a ‘to each his own’ kind of thing, but if she has some potential as anchor I’m not taking advantage of I’d be happy to take any advice you guys have to give.

Great you posted this. I’ve just had a good session with a good SFIV player I met on PSN… turns out he plays Nina on SFxT. The team works great with Nina on point. I NEED to get him to see this video and practice those multi tag in combos! :stuck_out_tongue:
