Pac is gonna fight whoever Massah Arum tells him to.
@MIRACLEARROW , I feel you on most of that but with regards to size, Mayweather is a pretty average sized Welterweight, albeit with a long reach but not particularly big. Paul Williams was an example of a big dude that fought at 147 (dude, could comfortably fight at 160). May only really looked “big” against Pac and Marquez, not so much against other normal natural Welterweights like Ortiz, Maidana or Mosley. These days most guys jump 3-4 weight classes over the course of their career just as a function of getting older, Pac being the extreme example.
OMG @ that GGG fight. He beat the brakes off that dude.
Did anybody see that Kovalev is gonna fight Pascal again? How do you try and sell a rematch of a one-sided KO? Unless they’re going to fight in Russia, I don’t really get the motivation for this.
Alright, lets start taking bets. Who’s Canelo who’s Cotto? I’m going to take the underdog and say Cotto outboxes him and gives 100 percent credit to Freddie Roach
Sorry but Floyd’s record is bogus. I have clearly refuted every single example thrown in defense to his running through out the entire match. You will never find any boxing match in where a boxer can run more than half of the rounds while inflicting little to no damage on their opponent. We have so many examples of that. The Ali example given on support of floyd was dumb and ignorant, it shows the lack of knowledge of the sport of boxing. There is just little to no reason why any intelligent fan should ever consider a man who wins that way plus fully engineers the terms in his fights with a legit record. Lets not forget the current IV controversy in where many of his camp are juicers as well.
Man nobody fucking cares. Mayweather was a good fighter. He fought good opponents. He did what he had to do to win. Were they the most entertaining fights… No. Was his style extremely boring and conservative? Yes. Did he win those fights… Absolutely. I’m a very intelligent fan and I have an inkling i probably know way more about the sport of boxing than you ever will and yes, his record is still legit. He didn’t LOSE any fights. To be honest you dont seem like you know shit about the sport and anyone who cares or knows anything about the sport is far more excited about the new era of boxing than caring about someone whos already retired man. Let it go…
Oh please, it is Mayweather fans who know jack shit about the sport. You guys are the only “fight” fans who doesn’t understand the reality of boxing in where the aggressor wins the rounds. You guys think that anybody can just run away, block through out the rounds and land a few number of hits and still win points. If there is nothing happening and no damage is being done then the points will go to the aggressor. Castillo kicked floyd’s ass and the results of DLH was fucked up. Berto had better aggression and pressure than Pac did but he scored that low when he was pushing and driving floyd to block on the ropes and remain in defense? You will only find that tactic being successful in Floyd matches, some idiot tried to use Ali/SRL and disregarded the fact that damage was actually being dealt on their side. I’m not saying Floyd sucks but his record is bullshit and he ruined the sport by spawning dumb ass-douchebag fans who really know jack shit about the sport.
I absolutely HATEEEEE Mayweather. I think he’s awful for the sport. As for my credentials, I grew up watching boxing in smoky bars when I was less than 10 years old before Mayweather was even big. My dad knew the various owners in town and they would show the cards. I boxed my whole life, my dad ran the gym, and his student took over the gym and I still box. You sound like an armchair warrior. There were some close fights that could have gone either way but I’m sorry, at the end of the day the fight stats dont lie.
As for your other arguement related to aggression, if you want a prime example, look at someone like Bernard Hopkins. Or really any true counter puncher… which if you knew anything are the most effective fighters in boxing. Bernard went through a phase JUST like Mayweather. People complained he was boring to watch, didnt inflict enough damage, and did “just enough to win”. You gonna discount Bernard now too? Here’s a fun fact, most people consider the best boxer ever to either be Sugar Ray Robinson or… Wiliie Pep. Want to know what Willie Pep was known for? Having unbelievable defense. Willie pep had almost 250 fights with only around 60 knockouts… What is he a fraud now too? Do you even watch boxing besides the main fighters these days? Please rank me your top 10 most legit fighters. I’de love to know.
Bernard had defeats in his record based on not engaging much so it doesn’t count. SRR and Willie Pep dished damage on their opponents, their rounds were not 75% of running, blocking, and evading… No one is going against the defense but the standard rule of boxing is that if there is nothing happening in the fight then how else are you going to score the card other than aggression? Effective aggression doesn’t mean getting open hits to the face it’s also forcing your opponent to be the defensive (shelling up, running away, etc)… if the defensive fighter is not retaliating with anything effective then he should lose. All those examples you gave are fighters who managed to dish damage while playing defense, that’s not the same with Mayweather and none of those men ever forced 100% control over their fights. BTW, this coming from a guy who was pure Floyd >>> Pac even up until the live showing on May 2. It just took me to watch it the second time to see that was complete bullshit.
