The Blu-ray Thread v1.0

CHEA rep DAT MULAN. 2nd best Disney movie ever.

I actually have 7-8 (one of them might be canceled due to some billing errors with Google Checkout) BDs on “order” status, which should push my BD collection past my DVD collection in terms of quantity. It’s funny that, in like 3 months, I’ve surpassed my DVD collection of like 10 years.

It’s going to take a while for me to pass my DVDs… I think I’m at a good 300 or 400 -_-

Region free or not? This will be the thing taht tells me if I am getting it or not.

EDIT: It says region 1 but for DVD. I assume then that it is also region 1 for blu ray?

EDIT 2: Digging a little futher into customer questions tells me that this will not play on UK PS3’s. DAMMIT!

Thanks for that link. Will be very helpful to me in the future.

All credit to SunocO, who linked it to me first when I wanted to know if The Island was region free… too bad it’d be like 40 shipped.

Also, don’t forget that Blu-ray regions are not the same as DVD regions.

Yeah I read that on amazon somewhere like A/1 B/2 etc. Thanks for all the info guys. Will be very useful in boosting my blu ray collection.

damn want, but never seen s1 and 2 and i feel like i’ll buy it and never watch it waiting for s1/2 in blu ray which will prolly never come

edit: fuck it bought it thanks

i wanted to import death sentence, but its region B only

so i guess i’ll have to wait til the hd dvd comes out to import it

Fuck. Blu ray deals keep me buying shit I’ll never watch.

i just bought a ps3 (had a stand alone BD player before)

is there a way to check if the video is in 1080p? Randomly a box popped up and said 1080i, then i checked the settings and 1080p wasn’t checked in the video output menu

so i checked it and saved

but just want to make sure its running at 1080p, is there something i can press to see?

:u: Press Select while the movie is playing to display all the info (like bitrate and stuff. I think it tells you display resolution, but I’m not sure).

Nope, the resolution isn’t there. The television’s DISPLAY options should have the answer, though.

There should be a way in the display menu to have it test the highest output you’ve selected.

-9

ah thanks it was display on my tv

new TV not used to it, i usually use a 1080p projector and the player i have hooked up to it displays all the info not like the PS3

but decided to try and watch some new stuff on the new TV

thanks!!

Yet another Buy 2 Get 1 mail-in offer from Sony.

Is it possible to do these offer without ruining the insert? I am not a big fan of cutting my covers.

Has anyone seen The Lives of Others? Is it any good?

Good movie + excellent video quality
