Remember the days when the HD DVD crowd was saying shit like, “With all the extra players, BD should be outselling HD DVD by a 5:1 margin, so ha”? Well, now it is. 
Maybe im crazy, but i simply, cannot, watch dvds anymore. Pirates , Spiderman, and Pixar movies look ungodly on my tv ( samsung 40inch lcd )and blu ray.
But i watched aladdin and 300 last night and jesus, i can see the flaws. oh god, can i see the flaws. especially, on 300. ign.com gave it a 9 in video, when reviewing the blu ray and hd dvd at the same time, which of course, got a 10.
Am i alone, or am i shocked at how the dvd looks? its like watching a vhs compared to a dvd i swear. its, horrible. the scanlines and fuzzy picture, wtf??? am i the only one whos seeing this? could the blu ray, be more than just, a 10, compared to dvds 9? or would it reach 300

Its a shame blu ray and hd dvd are pricey as hell, especially new releases ( i want saw 4 next week, but for a possible 29.99? ouch…) compared to what dvds are on release day. its a steep price to pay. but after seeing the grain and scanlines from aladdin ( disney wtf your transfers are always god tier ) and 300 ( again, it might be me, but this dvd on ps3 and on my tv sporting 1080p hdmi, it looks like absolute piss ) it looks like i dont have a choice. damn it. ><
Yeah, I’m a Blu-ray addict as well… I can’t watch SD live action movies anymore, atleast not comfortably. I even find myself trying not to go to the movies so that I can get the movie when it comes out on Blu-ray. -_-. I don’t have as big a problem with cartoons / anime on DVD at the moment though. But once Lion King and Aladdin and etc. etc. from Disney hit Blu-ray, I’m sure I will.

I finally bought my first blurays(first blood, blade runner, paprika). It should be dropped off at my house by Monday. My expectations aren’t high but after seeing you guys praise it, I can’t wait.
Yeah, I can’t watch DVDs anymore either, although on occasion, upscaled DVDs can look okay. It’s just never “good enough,” like most people claim. It sucks, and I would go to HD DVD if I had to just to avoid backtracking to DVD.
If you have 1080p or a nice tv, you should check out the simpsons movie and rattatouille , shit looks unreal.

So, there’s apparently a display configuration easter egg in ever Sony Pictures Home Entertainment (SPHE) blu-ray. You’re supposed to type in 7669 at the menu, but I’ve not been able to get this to work on PS3 (using a controller and not the remote) yet.
It works, I’ve done it, its a bunch of test screen patterns, when you hit trangle, and the menu pops up move over the numbers type it in and next to the row of numbers is the “ENTER” button.

Thanks to this thread I went out and bought a few blu ray movies. The Spiderman trilogy, POTC trilogy, 300, and Hellboy in addition to Saw 3 when it came out and Casino Royale for nothing just for registering my PS3. I totally agree with the DVD thing though. Shit looks horrible after watching Blu Ray. Grainy and not as clear. Just waiting for some classic Disney animations to hit Blu Ray and then I will stock up futher.
